25 years ago, cell phones were the size of a brief case and each minute on the phone costed I think $1.25

rocky I came out

Star Trak was on TV

each home had one phone, no caller id, no call waiting.

25 years +- cable came out. the remote, was a box connected to the TV with a cable....think we had 30 basic channels but god gave us mTv

what did a Big Mac cost?

U2 started rocking!

20 years ago, cell phones were the size of a shoe box and the cost was down
to I think .25 per minute.

Rambo I came out

today:
U2 is still rocking
what do we pay per minute per cell phone?

10 years from now:

Rambo 40 comes out
Rocky 50 comes out

20 years from now
will U2 still be rocking like the Stones?

what will the cost per barrel of oil be?
what will gas cost per gallon?

will we have gas?

what will a big mac cost?
will we be Catholic or Muslium?
Will france still be france or be over taken?

will America primary language be English or Spanish?
will we have a cell phone or will it be part of us?
will we have a computer or will the net just be there?
will there be another Rocky?
will there be another Star Trak movie?

just a few things to think about....

soon, clothes will come with rdif (or was that ridf) tags built into the clothes we wear and purchase....what does that mean? well lets say that you found a dress that you had to have...purchase it with a credit card. then the next day you wear that dress to Sam's Club and stock up, well retails will know what you like and what your spending your money on. retailers will have the technology to tie in all your purcahses.....

okay that is my sci fi moment

I see a rather bleak future ahead regardless of where the political power goes.

I suggest the things we take for granted now will be seen as luxuries in the future.

Try to imagine not having electricity for several hours each day as a starting point for viewing the future, add to that a curtailment of private transportation, cars, to the point of once a week usage.

welcome to the future...be sure to thank the liberals...

amicus...

Ah, but Ami, even the Athenians looked with anxiety towards the future and their comments about the decline of society sound remarkably familiar. You know the lines, "Children no longer respect their parents, etc. . . . "

Chuckles...I feel as if I have just been patted on the head with a condescending, "...there, there, ami..."

Perhaps...but the Athenians only had horse puckey to contend with, we have an absence of dinosaur juice....sighs...

ami...;)

Or, perhaps, to curse the trickle-down negligence that made them necessary.

Naw, Imp, the ne'er do wells have always been with us like a bag of limburger hung round the neck of honest men and women.

There are always those who are frightened of new ways, changes that actually make them think of better ways to do old things.

If you can't help man make a step into the future then why not just gracefully step aside as those who can, will.

Amicus...

Hell 10 years ago gas was .87 a gallon...quite a rise eh? Course that depends on the part of the world you're in

True. And they were right.

I'm more optimistic than AMICUS.

I believe our nation will experience a terrible crisis as we break the stranglehold the special interests have on the economy, but at the end of it innovation and creativity will solve most of our problems. A major economic depression will precipitate the crisis.

I have a standing bet that the lights will go out before the U.S. gets a new nuclear generating facility built.
