2 Couples.. How to start out?

Any suggestion on how to open up a conversation about a foursome between 2 couples? We are all friends since a couple of years back, but have started meeting more frequently lately.
How do we ask them if they want to join us in a foursome? Any easy ways to find out what they would think and feel about it?

I say you should invite them over. Have dinner. Have drinks. Afterwards, you two should head back to the bedroom and get undressed. When you walk back in to the dinning room, the other couple will figure out what you want pretty quickly. They'll either go along with it or there'll be a relationship-ending awkward moment of biblical proportions that you'll be able to reminisce about for the rest of your lives.

My suggestion is start turning the conversation towards sex very carefully. Even begin flirting a little with the others significant other. If they flirt back take it a step further.

Suggest friendly but revealing games like strip poker or truth or dare. If you have a pool find a reason to suggest a skinny dip. The biggest thing though is if they start feeling uncomfortable, back off. You'll be able to tell by instinct I bet.

Again, never been in this situation myself, but it should be just like flirting with a girl. If they like you, your suggestions and flirting will be rewarded. If not, you can still all be friends.

NE: Yes, this has been what we've been thinking as well. We just don't know which "questions" and "suggestions" to use while playing games and such. I guess we're just nervous and it'll all be made clear to us when the situation arises.

First, I recommend that you run a search and read some of the threesome threads. The ideas there for broaching the concept would work for couples also.

Second, games and skinny dipping are good openings. We got a little play with one friend by starting with body shots at home. Eventually, he and I were doing simultaneous body shots off her nipples! You could also suggest a game of "I Never" for the 4 of you. Learn a bit about each other AND open the topic of sex in one game. Twister can be fun too. Skinny dipping is fun. Public pools aren't an easy option, but seek out hot springs in your area; many are "clothing optional." You could also check the phone book for hot tub rental places. They generally don't care what you wear.

Status report
The 2 women have talked to eachother about the trip and it seems that the other couple were thinking in the same line !!

There are still some issues and rules to consider so the 2 girls are going to come up with some general rules and then it seems that it's partytime
Now we just have to find some cool toys&games to bring with us

A couple of details, please.

It sounds like you could have taken a couple to a hotel, went to the pool and flashed them, but they didn't take you up on it.

Instead, some other hotel guest got interested in what was happening, and you ended up taking her to your room instead of the original target couple?

Or did you end up with 5 people in the room?

I love ambiguity!
