This cartoon is about a huckster selling something called "Ism." He promises archetypical figures -- the Worker, the Farmer, the Statesman, the Capitalist -- it will make their lives immeasurably better, "And all it costs is your freedom!" But John Q. Public gets each of them to try a sample, and we see visions of them suffering under the tyranny of the Ismist State.
But the really interesting thing is this: Since 1948, all the horrible things we here see the Ismist State doing to the Worker, the Farmer and the Statesman have been done to them in real life -- by the Capitalist!
