15-Year-Old Charged With Sexual Battery On Woman

MIAMI -- A 15-year-old boy is facing charges as an adult after he assaulted a woman at her home, police said.

Police said Carlos Rivero, a student at Douglas McArthur North Senior High School, attacked the woman on May 23..

Around 11 a.m. the woman heard a knock at her door. She opened her front door to see if someone was still outside. As the woman locked the door, police said Rivero covered his face with a shirt, placed the woman in a chokehold and used a stun gun to gain control of the woman.

That’s when Rivero entered the home and sexually assaulted the woman, whose children were in the home at the time, detectives said.

Rivero allegedly told the woman he would kill her and her children if she reported the incident. He stole her ring and $110 from her purse. He also stole the woman’s cell phone and digital camera, which were in the children’s room.

Rivero is charged with armed kidnapping, armed sexual battery, burglary and robbery.
