good luck, have fun, hope someone gets in there!!!

What does this mean?

Thank you for your interest in our journal. 13th MOON includes poetry, fiction, art and photography. We are accepting submissions for the upcoming Volume 19 that will focus on Women's Reflections of Popular Global Culture for the New Millennium. Our working definition is a body of ideas that will be international in scope, with sweeping concepts of an earth that is all-embracing and all-encompassing. We welcome submissions from women, and men who write or translate women's writings.

I want to write a poem in "Woman" and have Tath translate it into "Guy." lol.

I couldn't really understand that, either, Ange. It seems too broad or 'vague' doesn't it? I'd like to give it a shot...

I can't figure it and I can't find any poems at their site to get an idea of what they like.

Maria? You ever read stuff from there? It looks good, but they sound a bit forbidding.

Anyway, I just sent something somewhere else. :)

I got my 1st rejection letter today. From Literary Mama... I think (and I may be wrong) that they're looking for Hallmarky type stuff.

*sigh

"Women's Reflections of Popular Global Culture for the New Millennium."

First... what is Global popular culture? Pop culture isn't too hard to figure out, but global?

And

"men who write ((or translate)) women's writings."

Men who write womens writings?

IMHO I think someone is trying to sound a bit snobby...

try again Boo, they have some nice stuff there, look around to get an idea for what they are looking for. Send in a variety (your writing does have variety) I sent them 5 and one fit ("Imagine if he did" the one about fighter jets scaring the daylights out of my boy) I submitted to several places several times before I got it right, the right match. Some of course, I have not succeeded in yet. I think it is because I cannot spell succeeedded

eh hem

I think I got my 23rd rejection the other day.

hehe

I want stirrings damn it.

Lets all submit really bizarre stuff to the New Millennium place.

Give them a raised eyebrow.

:)

I am going to go to the site to check it out.

Beats actually doing real work.

Thanks for the link Maria!

Does anyone have an example yet of popular global culture for the new millennium that's international in scope, with sweeping concepts of an earth that is all-embracing and all-encompassing. I need an example--like real bad, man. :)

We are the world?

Maybe thats the challenge here. How can my culture and that woman over there in the Ukraine, or the one in Uganda be alike?

Just for advice, here's the ones I thought of sending.

Harvest Moon

Still

Solstice

I'd love advice and/or suggestions on these. Or critiques, tho thats not primary. Just wondering if these might be suitable? Maria? Ange? Anna?

Bullwinkle, the movie.

And dang their hides anyhow, it's Earth, not "earth"...

I know. A Whitney Huston song, I believe. But it could be the first line of a poem. There's nothing new under the sun.

:D

I think you're my Mom. How many times she said that to me! Poor thing... she had 7 kids aged 18 to 8 when the sixties hit. We all thought everything under the sun was new... how wise she was. Either that or she read the right books... LOL

*ducking... "Sorry, Mommy!!"

Too early in the morning to go quoting Ecclesiastes... hey, I don't belong in this thread anyhow! *laugh*...

*retreat*...
