Bill Gates called for improvements on the latex condom, with $1M for a prize, what did they come up with?

Will Casual Sex Ever be the Same?

1. Ultra-Sensitive Reconstituted Collagen Condom

This is a condom made with bovine tendons, which are cheap, plentiful and strong. The condom would have a skin-like surface which would “facilitate heat transfer” and offer a “more natural sensation,” according to its developer, Mark McGlothlin at Apex Medical Technologies in San Diego.

2. Dynamic, Universal Fit, Low-Cost Condom

This prophylactic would be made of a material (a “composite anisotropic,” to be exact) that allows it to shrink to fit the person who is wearing it. It is “designed to gently tighten during intercourse, enhancing sensation and reliability," says developer Benjamin Strutt at Cambridge Design Partnership, Cambridge, England.

Wonder when they will get to a "Spray-On?":)

Given the number of people in the health professions who are now deathly allergic to latex, how 'bout dropping the 'latex' crap altogether and coming up with a superior material that has nothing to do with a damned rubber tree? The bovine tendons sound promising . . .

2 or 3 of the ideas had something to do with applicators, either loading or coming with each condom.

Cow-tendons and supermaterials are nice, but the quick-applicators seem to be the only new idea that might come into use within the next five years. Applicators would reduce personal error at least, making them more effective, if not more tactile.

Weird looking condos.

Kinda look like silos.

The colors make me suspect condos for fags.

I wonder when the government, via the ACA, will require a condom dispenser in every bedroom in America?

Not to be political, really, I'm not trying, but it requires so much that shouldn't be required.

For instance: I'm Male, why do I need to purchase as part of my policy a provision for Maternity care?

Stupid shit like that making premiums higher for everyone. Wonder how females will feel about getting a prostate exam once a year. And do I have to get a mammogram? And a pap smear?

Not sure where you are coming from... This is a privately funded deal going through good-guy Bill Gates.

If you want to start a soapbox where you pontificate about the Affordable Care Act and complain about how it's infringing on your rights as a healthy male, then you really should start a new thread about it. Preferably somewhere else.

Okay boss, I'll get right on that. Or maybe I won't. It's a toss up, but stick around, I might surprise you. Or maybe I won't.

And I always tell the truth, just ask me.

You will always get that in any society.

People don't want to "pay" for a pregnancy, but then out of the other side of their mouth don't want to pay for birth control either and lets not get started on abortion.

The broken health care in this country has nothing to do with pregnancy and maternity care and everything to do with corrupt lobbyists and the pharmaceutical companies billing Blue cross $1000 for a 2 ounce tube of cream for a skin condition.

So pick your knuckles up off the ground and pick on the real target.

Good comment. :)

Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous when I started reading an LC comment about the ACA, but I agree with you 200% on this one.

You both misunderstand what I said.

If I as a male, prior to the ACA, bought an insurance policy for myself, I could get a policy without anything related to maternity.

Under the ACA, I have to purchase a policy, for myself, that now includes something I don't need.

Therefore, not only do my costs go up, but I have to pay for something I will never, ever use. As will you when you signup.

And don't think you'll get out of it 'cuz you have insurance through you employer. It's only been delayed for a year.

In 2014, your employer will cancel your insurance and pay the fine/tax because he doesn't offer you insurance and you will be headed to the exchanges to purchase you very own slice of heaven.

Mark my words.

Rattle can spray on condoms sound like a fine idea. A fast drying compound should be simple to produce, besides, you would only need to catch the wigglers and not wear a whole sheath. One that covers the head and balloons outward would suffice. I never did care for wearing a rubber; to me it was like taking a shower wearing a raincoat. :D
