I could hardly believe it. My hair length, while I thought is was luxurious and wonderful, was a pain. It would get caught when I would pull up my pants or underwear. It would get caught in the hinges on my chair back. At night, I swear I don't know how, but sometimes I would try to roll over and it would be stuck under my shoulder or caught between the waterbed bladder and side or the dog would be laying on it.

It was damned-near painful to see the locks falling down on the cape. I wish now that I would have kept some. Not sure what I would have done with it though.

It still hangs below my shoulder blades, but not much. And now I can wear the cute hair styles that were impossible with the former length.

What is the most drastic hair change you have made?
Have you ever had a change that you regretted? What did you do to rememdy that?

Hey---I bet that if I get on the scale, I will weigh lots less!!!!
(Running toward the bathroom to check.)

i think i'd picture you as blond even if your name wasn't BlondGirl....nice 'do btw.....

i have extremely curly hair.. and it grows out very slowly.. well once when i had it almost to my shoulders i cut it near buzz cut short.. and ended up having an afro for a while as it grew out.. 8 years later its finally down to the middle of my back when dry again.. and way past my waist when wet. i've also bleached out big sections of my natural red hair, dyed the rest of my hair almost black and dyed the white/bleached streaks a neon red... *ahem* i dyed it back to near my natural color very quickly.

I had the same thing done not too long ago.
I had hair down past my waist. It had to go...wayyy too much work for me now.
I donated it to the cancer bureau here, they use it for wigs for people undergoing chemotherapy. That was something that I could do to help.

It was a HUGE change, but one I don't regret doing.

My hair commited massive suicide because of a severe hair depression. The survivers decided to don white in mourning.

Oh BlondGirl, it will grow back, don't be sad. I cut my beautiful long waist length hair off over a year ago and I have mourned its loss. I am growing it back now and feeling better. You are lucky yours is still so long - I cut mine up to chin length :( Take care and have faith, it will grow back.

Chin length? Oh my! I don't think I could pull off short hair. I have had it but it never "fit" right. Besides, I am much too lazy to have it cut regularly.

I have always had long hair since I was a little girl, I think the most drastic I went was when I was going into jr. high ... my mom took me to the salon & my hair was way pass my waist ... well my mom told the lady to basically cut it short ... very short. I had like a pixie hair cut. I did not like it & when we got home my dad was furious , he liked my long hair.

Ever since then I have had long hair , it ranges in length & I have a tendency to cut it whenever I get in one of my "moods". Last time I cut off 12 inches simply because I got into a fight with an ex or some thing & felt like cutting my hair. I am weird like that ...:). But right now I have it pass my shoulder blades, odds are tomorrow I am going to get it cut -- been on my mind for some time now. :)

At one point I wanted to grow my hair out. I had it all the way down to my chin, but it just drove me too crazy and I cut it off. I don't know how you ladies do it, but I'm impressed :D

when I was in 5th grade I had my first hair cut. I cried. after numerous haircuts through hs. One of which was 1/4 inch all over with purple pinstripes. I decided to let it grow a bit. A couple years later I was a strawberry blonde with hair down to my shoulders.

I now have hair down to my ass, and am seriously thinking of cutting it.

I had a goatee at one time... it was *very* painful to shave off. At one point I had a mullet too, (yeah yeah... go on), and *that* hurt to cut as well!

I'm pretty happy with my look right now, though. I look... sharp. :)

When I was finished junior high, my mother talked me in to getting all my hair cut off. I'd never had a hair cut before so my hair was down past my ass and perfectly straight. She took me to the hairdressers and I ended up with a short permed hairdo. God it was horrible. I wish I had kept the long hair or at least stayed away from the hideous perm. It was the 80s so it was kind of on the line of Sheena Easton's look...not very good!

I am currently in the process of growing my hair out. Thanks to my mother's unrelenting nagging, I cut my hair short about a year ago. It had been 15 years since she'd hauled me in for the pixie cut that caused me to hide every time she tried to take me to the stylist. I would get it trimmed, but I never allowed them to take more off. Then, on Valentine's Day of 01, my mother suprised me with a makeover with one condition. I had to go to her salon/spa, and her stylist. The words "I do not look good with my mother's haircut." apperantly had no effect on this man's brain, because, sure enough, he did the exact same haircut on me that he always gave my mother. My hair now comes to my collar bone, and I intend to get it to right between the shoulder blades, and keeping it there.

BlondGirl,

When I graduated from high school, I started working in an office to help pay for my college tuition. That was when I got my first "true" haircut. I've always had long hair and at times it was more of a nuisance than a pleasure.

On the spur of the moment, I decided to go to the beauty parlor that was near the office I was working in to make an appointment. I didn't think I would be getting it cut at that exact moment, though. But, someone had cancelled right before I walked in.

I had decided to make a drastic chance and planned on having very short hair. As I'm typing this now, I can still hear the scissors making their cutting noise as they sliced through the first section of hair. I remember feeling a little sick to my stomach, too, because now that the first cut had been made, there was no turning back.

When I came home that night, my dad didn't recognize me at first. I'll never forget the look on his face - he hadn't been prepared for this at all. I think I cried for 3 days straight, but then I realized it would grow back.

Now I keep my hair length right at my shoulder blades. That's how I've had it for years, now.

Mine was down to the small of my back about 3 years ago. I just couldn't stand it anymore. The sheer weight would pull out any attempted styling. I keep it just below shoulder length now.
