I just logged on and the "front page" said there were 1,000,140 posts.

To paraphrase Cagney in Mr. Roberts:
"Who did it? Whoooo did it?"

It musta been Renegade.

How are the new digs treating you, Scabbers?

Last few days? I assumed it happened within the last hour. Just checked now and it said 1-mil & 152.

Settling in, Mouse--ta for asking.

Unless youwere watching each new post go up, there's no way to tell. Juspar Emvan owns post number 1,000,000 but because the front page only counts those posts that are still available to read, it changes with deletions as well as new posts. It's possible that several people could, over time, claim the millionth post on the front page, but Juspar will always hold the distinction of making the millionth post since the BB started numbering them.

Frightening? Perhaps.

But if WH charged for advice he would make a fortune.

May I ask how you know this, WH?

How I know that Juspar owns post numer one million: I put the number 1,000,000 into the "show single post" URL and called it up. (I posted that URL in another thread about the impending turn of one million of the front page.)

How I know the number on the front page changes with deletions: I've dealt with BB software at the programming level and understand how it works.

(PS: this post is ID# 1,110,422. I got that info from the address bar when I posted the message which read http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=1110422#post1110422

Thx, WH. I was curious, I understand the deletion issue, there is constant fluctuation.

I was unclear how you knew for sure the millionth post. Thanks for the explanation.

I know there's been some discussion of when we officially hit 1 million posts, but it's kind of like the year 2000 to me. When I see it written, then it seems real! :) Harold is right about the true 1 millionth, but quite a few posts have been lost over the years to upgrades, purges, merges, and even the occasional server burp.

Seeing the counter pass 1 million was pretty exciting for me. I'm in awe of how much Literotica has grown, while still seeming to me like a small (though not as small as it once was) group of friends.

Three cheers for 1 million posts!!

Hip hip . . .

So how long did it take? is there some kind of algorithem to figure when 2 million might hit?

Expontential, as in, half the time it took for the first 1 Mil. Laurelinabobena, hope you're ready to upgrade, again.
