Looking for ideas for a story or to create one together… I am rather new here and would love any input!!

She stared at the computer screen. He couldn’t be sincere. But dedicated he was, and something deep inside her thrilled at the thought. Carefully, she reread every word in the email. She read to herself, “You will receive a package, a present if you will. A butterfly especially for you. I know you know what it is since we discussed it only yesterday.” He didn’t wait for her to respond, but simply expressed.”You will wear it all day everyday for two days. You’ll wear it to work at home, and to bed. On the hour, you will begin turning the button up for fifteen minutes then med. for the next ten then low for the last ten. You will repeat this every hour on the hour from 7am till midnight.” The cursor sat blinking at her waiting for her reply.

Some thoughts about where to start:

What turns you on, and why? What kinds of stories do you like to read, in terms of category, type of relationship, length of story, etc.? Do you like short stroky stories, or longer relationship-based stories?

Nobody can answer these questions but you.

My story ideas usually spring from other stories I've read, so I think it helps to read a lot and to know what you like.

Or you could base your story on a past experience. I don't do that, but some people do.

Or base it on an unfulfilled fantasy you'd like to try. Come up with a character who is a little like you and ask yourself how that character would get involved in the fantasy.

My suggestion for your first story: Don't make it too long. Don't make it too ambitious. Just write and get it done and see what happens.

Good luck.

Ideas are everywhere. People you see, places, pictures. Pictures are my biggest source.

Sit in a coffee shop, cafe, a mall and watch the people. Characters come in all shapes and sizes. You don't even have to talk to anyone to get stories that scream from the way they look, what they wear, who they are with.

I have over 250 stories published here at Lit and another three hundred or more partially written in one form or another.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I've found pictures that ended up being forty or fifty thousand words.

Start with “The”. Write it and as soon as your fingers start to move type whatever comes into your head.

The guy at the bar next to me glanced at me, smiled, and puked all over my brand new leather coat that I’d bought that afternoon. Six months later, at our wedding, he glanced at me, smiled, and face planted into our wedding cake. An hour later, he was passed out on our hotel room floor and I was having passionate sex with the best man.

See, I had no idea what I was going to write but it all started with “The”

And that’s given me this idea for a story.......
So stop procrastinating and start now. 🤗

Welcome to the AH. Much good advice to be found here.

From your post, it looks like you have the beginnings of a tale already. To be honest, even that could do with an edit. But here's the thing - this isn't the time for editing, this is the time to create and the most important thing is the idea. Yours has a lot of potential, I think, so don't worry about anything but expressing and filling out that idea. Some people put together plot summary and then fill it in; others just start writing and see where it all goes. Both systems work. But write first, then edit.

Taking your idea, some things you might want to consider are:
  • Her feelings when she sees it for the first time?
  • How does it feel in her hands? How does it feel when she wears it for the first time?
  • She puts it on. Can she see it through her clothes? Can it be heard?
  • If it can be heard, how do people around her react to the sound?
  • Where did she meet him?
  • Have they been together for a long time and in what sort of relationship? GF-BF or dom-sub seem likely.
  • Is his intention to give her a constant stream of orgasms or is it tease and denial?
  • How does she deal with that?
  • Does she tell anybody?
  • Does she cheat and turn it off or does she do as ordered?
  • Does she have an orgasm? Six? Fifty? How do they feel?
  • How does she feel about the whole thing? You said she felt thrilled, but was that due to his dedication or the butterfly being sent?
  • Do/will they ever see each other?
Answer those questions and your initial idea has been expanded. Keep doing that and you've got a draft. Run that draft by a beta reader or editor and you've got a story.

But, as Chloe said, get writing. It's the only way to release your story.

Good luck. Keep us posted, please.
