Chief's daughter was old enough to set the table, just not old enough to eat, so to speak.

This thread does raise an interesting idea. Nothing like a gool 'ol, down home, virgin deflowering ceremony. Get the fire up. Get the drums pounding. Add some serious chanting from the assembled tribe.

The only stretch is her age. Eighteen year old virgin? She has to be ugly and able to run fast in order to still be cherry at eighteen.

Anyone see any possibilities in this idea?

This all reminds me of an old Harold Robbins book. Can't remember which title - they were all pretty much the same. He had a deflowering ceremony, I think it was set in a South Pacific tribal scenario. Hot stuff for my teenage libido.

A story like this still needs a believable setting. Anyone, any ideas?

different taboos

I think it would be fun to create new taboos while eliminating most of ours.

1. Married people do not have sex with each other. This is considered very disrespectful of the special nature of there marrieage.

2. There is a taboo of anyone having sex who is under 30. It is considered that they don't know how to do it right. (Some young 25 year olds might decide to break this taboo- and it would lead to what sort of community reaction? Disgrace? Imprisinment? Loss of Job? Or what measures would they take to hide there behavior?)

3. At 30, a birthday party/orgy comming of age party is held by the persons family members. They are shown the many ways that sex can be pleasurable.

4. Just to be really odd, it could be taboo to have sex with anyone who is *not* a relative. (ie, part of your clan)

To do this story justice, you would have to consider how families are formed and maintained- who raises resulting children- a special "nanny class"? married couples who adopt? maybe the mother and her husband? single parents? These things should be considered if you are going to claim that a new "civilisation" has been found. Also, consider that family construction and so forth are usually the *reason* for taboos (or lack thereof) so this should be explored.

Yeah, that is a great idea. Nowadays, the legal age is 18. But maybe back then, it was 30. And just think about it: Nowadays, the puberty starts earlier and earlier. Some girls reach the puberty when they are 9 or younger. But this is an ancient tribe. Back then, the girls reached the puberty, when they where about 18 ... and to give them some time to develope, the "legal age" back then could have been 25 or older ...

That is also a great idea. Nowadays, we know that incest is not good, because there is the risk of a gen defect. But back then, the tribe members believed the opposite. The closer the relationship, the better. I mean, if a guy fucks his cousin, the resulting baby will be strong - but if a guy fucks his own sister, the resulting baby will be much stronger ....

When I think about it: Cannibalism is something similar: When a tribe battled against another, many times, the winning tribe ate the corpses of the enemies. They believed, that this would make them stronger.

So, maybe incest babies were very welcome. Everyone was encouraged to commit incest.

As I said, nowadays, we know, that there is always the risk of a gen defect, when it comes to incest babys. So maybe all this incest lead to many gen defects, and so the tribe became extinct. (I know that someone posted a similar story idea like this, a few weeks/months) ago ...
