I posted this about a year ago and the thread turned into a fiasco. Let's try again! I still like the piece. :) A troll was "nice" enough to pull the original thread up yesterday, but I'd rather that memory go and this one begin. Enjoy!

"The Wolves Within"

An old Grandfather, whose grandson came to him with
anger at a schoolmate who had done him an injustice,
said, "Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have
felt a great hate for those that have taken so much,
with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you
down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking
poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have
struggled with these feelings many times."

He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside
me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in
harmony with all around him and does not take offense
when no offense was intended. He will only fight when
it is right to do so, and in the right way."

"But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The
littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He
fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He
cannot think because his anger and hate are so
great. It is hard to live with these two wolves inside
me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes
and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather solemnly said, "The one I feed."

Two natures beat within my breast.
One is foul, the other blest.
The one I love; the one I hate.
The one I feed will dominate.

Cheyenne... I like it the first time it was posted... I like it more now. I wish people could see the message within...:) :rose:

Thanks Cheyenne

I needed your post as a reminder today. I have a hard time letting go of my anger. When someone I care for hurts me, I want to lash out and hurt in return. Your post has helped me this morning to let go of some anger I was harboring. You have made my day.

May your day be blessed in return.

I want the wolves removed from my tummy. How did they get there in the first place?

Cheyenne, your threads are always thought-provoking, but this one is especially touching. :) Thanks for sharing that -- I'm not sure why you said it turned into a fiasco before, since I haven't seen the other thread, but I love the underlying message.

I'm glad all of you liked it. I think I need to read it more often myself.

And stargazer, I had a GREAT day today! Got some good news in my RL. Thanks for the extra good wishes! :)

I got two wolves in my life

:p

That was very good. Reminds me of the Last Temptation of Christ (the book).

Reminds me of a lot of things, actually.

Thanks Cheyenne

I love it Cheyenne. I am glad you posted it again because I missed it the first time you did it.
Very nice!

what was the good news?

You have a PM. This one is a little too specific for bb consumption.

But it is a good thing! :)

Thanks Chey, I remember this thread, and both these poems. Nice to see them showing up again, they're wise words.

Seems like I've heard that one before, but I think not.

Maybe because it's so true.

Thanks for posting.

I bet I know what that PM was about.:D

Ha! If you know, PM and tell me. Because I can't remember!

edit: I think I remember the timing. This may have been my health scare last year and it was good news from the doctor.

I see you've run out of "new" material...

:D

I see you need to clean your glasses.

Lukkyknight is the one who bumped this blast from the past.
