Three Nights of the Moon

This is the OOC thread for Three Nights of the Moon.

Please note that this is a time-limited story. It will take place over three game days, from midnight to midnight. I know it is sometimes difficult to have writers who can sustain their roles through the end of a story. Since this tale will have a definite ending, I encourage those who wish to join to please commit themselves to seeing their character through to the end. Of course, if RL gets in the way we’ll deal with it; just keep the communication lines open with the rest of us.

This story is a takeoff on the classic horror movies of the 30s/40s. Think Young Frankenstein. The classic characters will appear: mad scientist, created creature, werewolf, hunchback, and more. While it would be easy to make a long colorful list of characters, I’d like to avoid the necessity of people doubling up on their roles. This should be fun, not a chore. So I’ve pared the list down to several major roles, some of which have already been taken. Minor roles are available if there is enough demand. Please fill the major roles before taking on one of the minor ones. There are obviously several “classic monsters” which are not represented. Again, if the major roles get filled, I will consider other suggestions if they serve to move the storyline.

Consider the source when creating your character’s personality and using his powers. Stick with how they have been defined in the old black & whites. In fact, I’ll be imagining the whole story in black and white, and that may help you too. This is meant to be a campy gothic horror story. Don’t be afraid to show a sense of humor, while keeping the appropriate atmosphere.

On the question of violence: if necessary. I don’t see any reason why any characters need to be hurt badly, let alone killed. If you do think that violence will move along a certain part of the story, just be sure you have permission for the actions from the other player who would be affected. Again, keep in mind the overall tone of the tale.

These are the main parts:
  • mad scientist (me)
  • doctoral student (Ariosto)
  • student’s wife (Mistress Jorja)
  • housekeeper (Destiny_Brent)
  • hunchback (Jehanox)
  • wolfwoman (Honey_B)
  • madwoman (NightWhispers)
  • the creature (Exosus)
  • love creature, female (Maid of Marvels)
  • farmer’s daughter (SexyChele)
  • fortuneteller (Faith)

    Minor parts:
  • farmer’s widow
  • town deputy
  • town constable
  • fortuneteller’s son
  • gypsy woman

Synopsis:

In a distant castle lives a mad scientist trying to recreate the lost love of his life, who only exists as a disembodied brain-in-a-jar. He's been experimenting on living people, and other things, or parts of things. His first experiment was on the hunchback. It failed, but hunch was a forgiving sort, and even though he couldn't leave the castle anymore because people chased him, the scientist offered him a job and that was nice, wasn't it? The doctoral student and his wife have arrived to help the scientist. The student thinks that the scientist is just trying to cure the people in the attached madhouse but doesn't realize the depth of weirdness, nor knows about the secret laboratory.

The student's wife is fairly clueless, a city person in the country and, on the surface, a sweet dumb tourist. The housekeeper is secretly in love with the scientist and will do anything to protect him.

The wolfwoman stumbled onto the castle some time past and was accepted there. Like the hunch, she can't go out in wolf form, but that only happens during the full moon. She does some work for the scientist, but mainly mopes about in boredom. Wolfie wants a mate but, having no social skills, is pretty lousy at meeting new people. But during the change, her inhibitions break down. Lately she has been spying on the farmer's daughter.

The creature is a different angle on the experiment, one the scientist is pleased with. He is intelligent and well-read, just with a monster's body. The creature nearly killed the scientist when it realized the full meaning of his new life, but they struck a deal. If the scientist will make him a mate, the creature will forgive him and they will go off to the south tower to live alone. The scientist agreed, but secretly decided that he doesn't want to waste the opportunity. So his latest experiment is actually to resurrect his lost love for himself. He intends to isolate the creature and animate his lost love, then they'll stay together with the creature locked away in the madhouse.

The lost love will exist for the first day as a disembodied brain, able to talk and hear, but not see. During the second day she will awaken in her new body. The scientist is planning a party for the third night to celebrate the resurrection of his lost love, although he’s disguising it as just a masquerade ball (what kind of costumes will these weirdos wear??) The event will be catered by the farmer’s daughter, known throughout the village for gardening skills.

The escaped madperson is running around the house and the grounds, or the town, or the woods, or wherever. He or she is a sexual predator who loves to be caught masturbating in public places. The farmer's daughter has noticed a person watching her at night. It's actually two, wolfwoman and the madperson. Wolfie is ready to take her on the full moon and make her a werewolf too; the other just wants to do his/her thing.

If extra roles are needed:
The constable and the handsome young deputy are checking out the daughter’s story, and possibly her mother too, the farmer’s widow. The fortuneteller foresees trouble this night, and will want to warn people for a price. Her son and another gypsy girl will be in the woods, interacting wherever.

The ancient castle is huge, with secret doors and passages, and no one knows them all. Housekeeper and hunch know them the best, then the scientist, then wolfwoman and the creature. Others know none, or maybe only one.

I will control non-player creatures, encounters, and weather. The days will change when I announce it, every game day midnight. The story will cover three days and nights, from 12:01 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. over the three nights of the full moon. Day 1 will be partly cloudy but nice. Day two will dawn red, and the weather will start to turn in afternoon. Evening will bring the thunderstorm, with an occasional rip in the clouds to show the moon. Day 3 will be overcast and rainy, occasional thunderstorms, cooler later and high winds, scattered clouds in evening and night, a classic Halloween night.

If you've already chosen a character, you can post some background here if needed. Or if there are questions about roles, plot, etc, or suggestions, please let me know.

Here's a quick summary of our mad scientist:
Dr. Emil Dresden is a believer that anything under the sun or moon can be recreated in the laboratory. A highly skilled surgeon, he taught at Oxingham University for several years until his fiancée was involved in a tragic accident. His classes became erratic and he started taking odd jobs to supplement his income, such as radio repair, ditch digging, and cemetery delivery. Rumors abounded, and he was asked to leave the university in disgrace. He dropped out of sight for several months until it was reported that a curious land transaction had taken place, and the doctor had packed everything up to move to some distant Bavarian country. The faculty and students mostly breathed a sigh of relief, although a few of his closest friends (very few) regretted losing his unique viewpoint on the world. It has been approximately five years since he took up residence in the castle.

Emil is tall, about 6'2", and lean, weighing about 195. His straight dark hair is usually unruly, a shock of it perpetually hanging over his forehead. In town he dresses formally, jacket, vest and string tie.

Glad you got this up and running, Captain!

Let's see....

Character is Liesl, 18, average height, very curvy figure but not fat, blond hair that falls just past her shoulders, hazel eyes. Highly regarded in the village for her gardening and cooking skills.

Liesl lives with her mother, and times have been a little rough since her father passed away. Liesl has received many "offers" from the men of the village that would supplement the family income, but so far has declined them all. Yet, somehow her mother always seems to have cash stowed away somewhere. Liesl is somewhat wary of the activities of the castle - some in the village say diabolical things happen there - but she is not superstious. She admits the scientist who lives there (who she has only seen on rare occasions) is very handsome, but preoccupied. The latest additions to the village, a student and his wife, have been the cause of much gossip. And indeed, the husband is strikingly handsome, and his wife true beauty. Liesl has had the feeling that she is being watched for quite some time now, although local officials have a tendency to brush off her concerns.

Hope that's OK, Captain. If you need me to change anything, just let me know.

A girl's gotta get a head in this world...

The Love creature is "EveryMan's" dream come true. Yet there she sits, an experiment in a jar left too long on the shelf. Imprisoned in her crystal tower... Alone. Waiting to be set free. To chase the rainbows that have been shimmering dimly through the murky walls of her existence until...

(Oh, did I forget to mention she's a real brain?)

Student's Wife

Kayla Moran is the kind of woman whom you wouldn't pass on the street without tipping your hat and saying "Eevnun, Lil' Lady." Petite and standing at 5'2" she insists upon wearing the frilliest dresses she can find, along with the quite fashionable wide brimmed hats that cover her soft auburn curls. Her lacy gloved hands seem to always either contain a cigarette holder or a parasol to keep the harsh sun off her fair skin, and are constantly kept in motion emphasizing the unimportant comments and opinions she has on everything. Although some might think her outfits looked frivolous and overdone, she fancies her self the loveliest Southern Belle there ever was and makes sure to let everyone else know with what high esteem she holds herself. Growing up in the heart of New Orleans, the daughter of a wealthy banker, she's more than a bit naive about the outside world.

Welcome aboard, Mistress J! I've edited the original post to include your character choice.

If I had an eyebrow I'd arch it...

You thought that just cause I can't see anything yet, I wouldn't know you posted a pic of me as a box with an X marking the spot?

Is that all I mean to you?

Next you'll be ignoring me completely, mumbling "Uh huh. Yes, dear." whenever I try to talk to you during a Yankees game.

If I had a heart it would be broken. :(

Accursed geocities. A pox on thee!

Sorry, m'dear. The cleaning lady turned the jar to the wall.

Is anyone interested in taking on the role of the creature or the crazy? Take a look and let me know what you think.

Alright, I know there are lots of you guys out there who could do well with either of these parts! C'mon, this could be a lot of fun, and if you don't sign up now, it will just be another missed opportunity...

Of course, I could take on another role, and that way I could just play with myself! But, in that event, since none of you men would join, I would only do it secretly and you would be left to your imaginations!

;)

And I'm playing the wolfwoman...

The wolfwoman snarls!

Um, I think you and MoM are sharing the same dilema - are you both turning into little boxes with red x's?

How are ya, Honey?

And I'm still playing the wolfwoman...

Wolfwoman Q & A, by Honey J. Bee:

Does the wolfwoman have a name?
Why yes. It's Kitsune.
How did she become a wolfwoman?
A bite from an amorous suitor during a full moon.
Where does the wolfwoman come from?
Possibly Native American, the wolfwoman has long since forgotten where she was born.
What does she look like?
See for yourself.

Thanks for the head's up, Chele. I'm super! Hope you are too.

Wow! Maybe we can forget about the crazy person - with the sort of image you've posted, Honey, I think the farmer's daughter may just want to become a werewolf instead. YOWZER!

Of course, playing the crazy person myself will enable me to play with myself - ALOT!

Radcliff Moran, is your Doctorial student.
Son of a wealthy Mississippi used car dealer (Moran's Motor Mania) he met the adorable Kayla his first year at Tulane on a football scholarship. Razor Rad as he was known, became the finest wide receiver in Tulanes' history.
Outrageously handsome at six foot four, and with the looks of a blond adonis he soon captured Kayla's heart and other things.

ALAS! his destiny would change for all times when he fell victim to an unfortunate accident in the chemistry lab. When the smoke cleared the Razor was gone. In his place was a scholar, a man whose driving desire became the reincarnation of life from cold dead things. (ughh)
Kayla hoping that somewhere in this attractive shell still lurked the ghost and other things of her beloved 'Razor', married him and instantly regretted it.
His voracious love making began to take on 'unnatural'aspects and he began to wear thick glasses even though he had the vision of an eagle...

hi everybody

Dear Captainb...I'd like to take on the fortuneteller if it ok? I'll iron out the character...what do you think....old crone or young beauty or both depending on who's looking??? lol....love the possibilities...
see ya'
faith

Okay Faith, the fortuneteller is yours. I'll leave her details up to you. I had a couple of ideas for motivation, but I'd like to hear what you have in mind first.

I'd like to get this thread started this week. We still need a creature! Any guys willing to take this on? And no one seems too crazy about being a sex maniac running around loose??? In this forum??? I don't believe that for a minute.

I feign ignorance for I know next to nothing about old horror movies. That being said, however, I would welcome the chance to be the escaped madperson (sex maniac) if you will have me!

Character: Willow Barnes, age 27, jet black hair with a small streak of pure white that shows at the part in the left side of her hair, charcoal eyes with a few flecks of silver, average height and build.

Background: her mother died in childbirth, a piercing cry that preceded her death was her mother's last utterance in this world, Willow was born with a luxurious head of hair (the white patch was highly evident even at birth), her father deemed then and there that Willow was surely a demon, she was a willful and energetic child causing her father much grief, finally at the age of 12 when her father caught her having sex with the gardener he committed her to the "Hatcher Home for Wayward Children," from there she was sent to the state sanitarium where she has escaped from the night before finding the mansion on the hill.

I'll play the Creature if you want... give me a day or so to think up a name, and a look.

"Igor" the Hunchback

OOC: Actually, his name is Homer Gibson but the Mad Scientist who turned him into a hunchback in the first place likes to call him "Igor".

Appearance: Thanks to the Mad Scientist's experiments, he looks like the famous Hunchback of Notre-Dame with the addition attribute that he's got a very big willie (penis) as well (well it is a Sexual RP).

Personality: Apart from the disfigurement, the experiments have also given him a split personality (similar to Dr Jeckal and Mr Hyde). The first is Homer's original - a highly intelligent, kindly man who is charitable to anyone. The second one is a sex-crazed maniac with limited intelligent. As time goes on, the new personality is slowly starting to take over.

Thanks for inviting me, Captain and I hope you like my character.

Homer sounds great, Jehanox. And nice background on Willow, NightWhispers. Some of you have altered your origin a bit from the synopsis, but that doesn't matter. It's just a canvas, you guys are the painters!

Exosus, do you have the creature figured out? And are the rest of you boys and girls ready to play?
