The casual observer or newcomer might not realize that this place is quite the soap opera. There are histories - lots of them, and they're all complexly melted together here. I know people here who know people here, who have met people here, who have burned people here, who then said things to people here, who then repeated an embellished version to someone here, and it keeps on going.
I don't think that excuses poor behavior, but it does help me understand how things can get so complex.
