I'd ruin it and put smoked Pacific salmon on it all because I'm a salmon kick. I get onto food kicks and eat the same thing for weeks. Before that it was stuffed baked potatos and quesadillas with lots of jalepenos.

my AV says:

"Keep your salmon off my gouda buddy"

another one:

1 crumpet, toasted

spread with:
cream cheese (or this crazy french stuff, I think Creme....something...)
pumpkin butter

YUM

I substitute Triscuits for water crackers
sharp aged cheddar for the gouda
Baldwin or Northern Spy for the Fiji
and have schooner of beer handy.
Also my slices aren't too thin. ;)

Try the cream cheese spread with pepper jelly

ha.. I make pig of myself noshing that. er... jelly isn't really typing friendly. It has the tendency to slip in between keys and make things sticky.

;)

and stay away from sesame seed bagels, right "catbabe*? The get stuck under keys, and bad things happen.

learned the hard way,

savory wheat with
thinly sliced monterray jack cheese'
pink lady, or gala apples

OR, when in season, a bowl of juicy,
ripe, Washington State black cherries, OMG
heavennnn :D

seattle, what can you tell about a persons cracker pref? if anything...

what I am actually eating now (for dinner) as I type this:

Veggie burger on toasted roll
with
lettuce
red onion
tomato
avocado slice

horseradish sauce

It's pretty damn good and, so far, holding together though disappearing fast.

one fresh from the farm stand
juicy ripe peach

mmmmmmake mine gala (I stuttered with anticipation)

okay that does it.

we must have a wine, cracker and cheese tasting party.

I vote for Neo's place.

I remember restaurants where they would put out the baskets of cracker packets. I was always diggin' on the bread sticks and melba toast. Forget the salad.

Most of the time, I'm here in the morning, so if I do eat, it's some crap sandwich from Mickey D's. But, if I'm fortunate enough to be on the computer later in the day, (especially if I'm alone and not doing bullshit consulting work) then...

Let hedonism rule!

I developed this for my restaurant, and still use it as an appetizer... consider the recipe a "Thank You" gift...

Basil Lobster & Goat Cheese Swirls

1). Take one piece of your favorite roll up bread.
2). Spread with goat cheese, making sure to cover the top edge so that it can act like glue when you roll it up.
3). Spread with fresh, chopped lobster meat.
4). Spread with fresh chopped basil leaves.
5). Roll up, making a tight "log". Make sure the edge sticks. If not, put a little more goat cheese on as glue.
6). Put in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes minimum. It lets it harden a bit.
7). Slice log into 1/2 to 3/4 inch "rounds".

I like Chateau Carbonnieux White Bordeaux with them, or a decent Gewurtztraminer, or even a buttery Chardonnay.

Try it with other seafoods! I've done them with everything from scallops to swordfish. I've also done them with other fresh herbs. Tarragon with haddock, oregano with shrimp, etc. You can also play with other soft cheeses.

This is especially effective with a partner... a fire... soft music..
