Where Gods walk among us. The Empire is ruled by the Vicious Emperor Commodus (I changed it. This guy was an Arena nut and had his own Arena in the back of his villa and determined to cast himself as "Hercules reborn") time frame paralle to 200 - 150 BC.

Character Twist. For every Asset you must describe and Equally Hindering Flaw. I don't want Vivid Video characaters in this thread. If you have the Perfect ass your tits are lopsided and sag. If you’re the Best Swordsman in the world you can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a Crossbow. If your Tall, Dark and Handsome you’re as Dull as a Rock. Frequent Characters will be SLAVES, Gladiator Slaves, Men and women. Infrequent Citizens of Rome, possable Aristocrats and Senators can be played by people and Buy/Rent Slaves. People that post frequent and well will be asked to Double as a Gods. Hope for and donate much Blood, Sex and Tears… I want realism and depth. Not that being Fine is a bad thing but I’m going to be highly critical of Unoriginal Ideas and shallow details. I’m going to do my best to push away from that type of thread.

HOWEVER Bring in who you wish. But remember what happened to Medusa. Her beauty was such that she defied the Gods with it. Throw a Character in here with that type of Personality and Perfection the Gods just might exercise some balance and turn you into the next Main attraction at the Festival of Fools.

What about the displaced religious Man from Islam with the funny curved sword and turban. What about the tall Lankly Black African guy that don’t speak English. Also where are the Egyptians, The Greek?, What about the Romans?

A lot of the Gladiators were from foreign countries BUT not all. Also Gladiators are masters of non-fatal Injuries. Taking and Receiving them. The non-widely know fact about them. Not too many died. Yes they took hits, but they also held Bladders full of Pig and cow blood under the Armor to make it look like more gore then it really was. Think Pro wrestling. Not that there weren’t real Fatalities or accidents. But a lot was staged. This Thread will be based on that. Fake deaths and acting. Gods can also affect outcomes or accidents in favor or against the Gladiators.

For the Time being i am Sven, Jupiter and Augusta. I hope someday to pass these parts on.

Q: Can I play a God?

A: I’m not looking for the most powerful, mystical kind of SRP there can be. Even if you are asked to ‘Play a God’ occasionally it wont be your dominate character. I want this thread to have Caranage and orgies. Not a lot of political and mystical adventures as the Main plot. Subplots yes.

Q: Do I Have to Be Romen?

a: Absolutely not. A Majority of Slaves were from all cultures of the Ancient world. Asian however will be very rare. Indian, Egyption, Germanic, Cletic just to name a few. American Naives and Alaska natives are not possible. I will however consider an Advanced Cultural of Atlantis. (and when I say advanced I don’t mean Electronics. Advanced art and Medicine yes.)

Q:What were the Roman Gods again?

A: Apollo, Bacchus, Ceres, Coelus, Cupid, Cybele, Diana, Hercules, Juno, Jupiter, Latona, Mars, Mercury, Minerva, Neptune, Pluto, Proserpina, Saturn, Ulysses, Venus, Vesta and Vulcan. If your characater is from a diffferent culture such as Norse and Egypt they will refer and possabily encounter those gods.

Q: Where do we Live?

A: All established or female Gladiators have their cells. Most have a cot and desk with a lamp and nightstand. The new and less popular gladiators reside in a large open room, some on the floor others within cots. The most popular gladiators will have an almost state room with several nice things. But all lock on the out side and only Sven has the key. Some times slaves are brought to these rooms to pleasure the Gladiator other times it’s a citizen who Is going to get pleasure from the Gladiator. Some citizens arrive in a passive position requesting company. (Mostly happens with rich women wanting to bed the winner that evening.) Non Gladiator Slaves or people playing just Citizens of Rome will have Apartments. or the very Rice Town like homes, Villas etc...

FYI THE Arena has a Bathhouse which men and women don't go into at the same time. But I’ve read over and over. Public Baths were a very very Important Part of Socializing. Most Romans entered them One to three times a day. Cool pools and hot. So when doing your interacting please include this for authenticity.

I want to make note you don't have to be a Gladiator. and women and men can be either a Gladiators or a Regular slave.

Sven is as muscular as a middle aged man can get.

However deep inside he is still damaged goods and Prone to fits of true blind rage. Has night trimmers so he never gets a good night rest and you don’t want to be around him in the morning. The years have been good to a point. Though quick and strong he is Plagued with arthritis. Is blind in his left eye. If he had stayed in the Arena he wouldn’t have had many fights left. His weapon of choice are the spear and two-handed sword (which is really dull in fights) He no longer spars but works out even though painful to maintain his physique.

He picks which Characters go into fights (with player consulting) and what Slaves are available to Visiting Citizens of Rome(with player consulting/consent). And answers only to the Emperor on matters of the Arena.

Name: Hashess
Native of: Atlantis
Position: Gladiator, convicted of Harassing the Temple of Neptune

Hashess is a gladiator in the Roman Colliseum Criminal Arena. He was a monk of the Atlantean diety Dagon, the Darkness of the Deep. During his trial he claimed that his monastery was destroyed by warriors and priests of Neptune. His crime was standing outside of Neptune's Temple and chanting prayers to Dagon, the specifics of which are unknown. Archers attacked him from the battlements of the Temple. The arrows were deflected. As were the swords of the soldiers sent to attack him. He never truly injured a single Roman citizen or soldier; he only disarmed them and avoided injury to himself. Once he was formally arrested, however, he placed the manacles on his own hands and walked peaceably with the soldiers to the stockades. The jailors reported horrible screaming coming from his cell at night. They tried to wake him, but the night terrors he had held a deathgrip on his sleep. Other than his chanting, Hashess does not speak unless absolutely necessary. His trial was one of these times. He is average build, long black hair, with slate grey eyes. The senators responsible for his conviction are hoping for a swift and painful execution, due to the insult that the devotees of Neptune are in open outrage over. The Emperor, however has no knowledge of the specifics of the trial.

Potanius

Dark skinned, almost black. All his 6' 4", 247 lbs. is sheer muscle. He is from Cyprus and was captured in his early teens and trained for the games. His hair is black as are his eyes. He is proficient with all Arena weapons. His one defect is he can't read, write or speak. His tongue was torn out when he was young. He enraged his former trainer who tore it out. The trainer said Potanius didn't need to speak to be a Gladiator. The trainer died in an unfortunate training accident the next month.

Potanius is currently fighting in the games at the Arena.


Edit/Addition: Potanius has an uncut 9" tool.

Megella

Brittanni Celtoi /Gladiator Slave

Megella is a trophy of war.

After a vicious struggle , the Romans had conquered her people. Her men folk murdered or cast into slavery. She barely managed to secrete her children far away over Hadrians wall before the Romans caught up with her.
Shortly after, she became not just a prisoner but the camps sex toy. Untill she fought back in a moment they released her from her chains..beleiving in her false compliance. 3 viciously maimed and 1 dead legionaire later..Megella was recaptured and tortured. Losing both her right eye and and right hand..she somehow survived. The impressed Centurri sold her for a small price to die for the amusment of Rome.
She has proved all but unkillable since.
"Megella the Maimed", "Megella the Mad", "Barbarian Princess", "Twirling Demon" ( due to her making long circular motions in the gareana to compensate for her lost eye) are the names the mob calls her.
Even in the non fatal games the other gladiators know to avoid her as much as they can..she always tends tosend people home injured.
She dreams of returning to her children and revenge on the Romans

She is incapable of beariung children now due to the assaults of the romans

There is a savage feral beauty to her despite her scars..in the arena she often wears a mask-helmet..with half her face covered (the right side) forged as a gorgons face.

Combat note. I'm adding this to first post. but will remain here as well. When you and another character enter combat. You will be asked to describe two versions. One the crowd sees, complete with an Apparent Death then a slight off the scenes explanations about how they Fooled everyone with the final blow and what the real wounds are. You’ll enter combat with two orders. One who your fighting and two who win's or if it's up to the two of you. Typically you have 2 days before a fight to Spar with each other to iron out the details. Please PM each other when asked. I’d like to be surprised about the combats as well. Your character may play anonymous Gladiators to preserve their um, original Personas Record. Example (just and example).

Sven approaches Brittanni Celtoi in her cell and told she will be winning Potanius later this week. Potanius is told he can play an anonymous or not, person in the arena with Brittanni. But he will be falling. They have 3 days to prepare a scene which may or may not require final approval. Based on the attendance that evening. During really popular evenings all scenes will be Pre approved, and maybe fatal. Possible Fatal games aren’t known till game day and then the last hour before.

I will allow others to control Sven in this aspect. If you and someone else want a Fight. you can include Sven's Dialog concerning the Fight. And or slave interaction. This Applies when two people are corresponding. So you don't have to wait for me to come around every time.

Example. Msboy8’s Satin Kitty/Master want’s to do a sex seen with him in this thread. So MsBoy8’s thread starts like this.


Potanius was sitting in his cell. Writing in his personal Journal. When the door started to unlock. What could that mean at this time of night? He wonders. Of corse it’s Sven.

“You’ll be having a Visitor soon. Clean your self and obey all commands. She’s very wealthy Roman and knows the Emperor. Hurt her or worse Upset her and you’ll be crucified till almost dead brought back to health and Crucified again. Understand?” Sven gives him a stern look. Leaves with the door open. Obviously for Potanius to enter the bathhouse. After returning to his cell Potanius hears Sven bellow down the hall obviously with a women.

“Now here we are my lady the Unique and Mysterious Potanius.” Sven leades this women into Potanius cell and leaves. Giving him a don’t fuck this up look.

A few notes..

Mainly to dispel a misscommunication, my character is called Megella..her nationality is Brittani Celtoi

A Brittaani is anyone native to the british Isles... them and the Picti and the Scotti... no Roman knows of Ireland, so any Irish character would be considered Brittani, Scotti, or Picti..being the three main babrarian nations there

Celtoi is just the Roman term for Celt(ic)

I do have more than a passing fmailiarity with Roman history and culture, and would love to help with any details or pointers..and if I'm wrong be more than free to help correct me. learning is a gift.

First of all..the nobles and aristocracy speak greek..latin is the tongue for the common man.. while the upper class still speak latin, it merely shows their sophistication to speak Greek.

Religon is a job, not a calling. While there were many devout priests for the most part worship of the gods was a duty. And sought mainly for omens , tradition and the prosperity of the empire.

Take a good look at "The meditations of Marcus Aurelius", philosophy was the main religon of the time. But being a more fantastical roleplay..I imagine religon will be bigger and more devout

And i have to agree with Aaron about vandal.. you're character seems almost inhumanly formidable, but what flaws does he have.

Look at Delicious, MSboy and myself for examples... while delicious' flaws are slight, they match her character completely.. Msboys has no tongue and illiterate, but a considerable powerful presence..and then lastly my character..I'm FREAKING MAIMED, lol, no right eye, no right hand... those are HUGE freaking flaws... to compensate, my character is probably the hardiest killing machine of the lot of them.. but that will also challenge my RP

so get some flaws out there people

Fionn MacNessa

Age 24. Irish Celt. 6 foot 2. Red haired, hazel eyed. Skilled with Spear and Sword/shield but a lousy archer (Celts didn't use them much) mean with a sling. Married to his childhood sweetheart Maire with a young son and daughter. Now all he wants to do is survive and get back to them.

Fionn was part of a trading party sent into British celtic lands in the south west of england, his job being that of a bodyguard to the groups leaders. Unfortunately the group was double crossed, and he and the others were sold on to the roman authorities as slaves. He was assigned to be trained as a Gladiator, he'd be better off if he was just willing to submit to training.
