I've had it since Sunday. Write. Read. Hate. Delete. Rewrite. Read. Hate. Delete. Rewrite. Read. Hate. Go drink a beer.

Took me a half an hour to write that.

It still doesn't look right.

I'm going the movies.

*Edited to fix a double word usage. Dammit*

*taps MNGuy consolingly on the shoulder*

It'll pass love. Don't push it...relax and BOOM! words will be flowing form your fingertips before you know it :)

How about taking a little holiday from writing, or forbid yourself to write ANYTHING but silly lines like "The drunk duck played Mozart while the oranges fought over whose turn it was to hold the skipping rope"..?

Or try this.

Me too, damn awkward commissioned piece, can't seem to get my head round it, the subject matter is easy, the way to put it down in words is crap. I'll join you in a beer.

No Svenska I'm not going to try to say it, not even sober.:D

It's nice to know I'm not the only one afflicted with writer's block from time to time. Damn shame it shows up when I'm so anxious to write...

MNGuy, here is an idea, do it backwards. Drink the beer, write, then love it! lol

I know that wasnt much help, but it will look much better if each line looks like two and you wont know what you are writing until you are sober.... its a thought! lol

Good luck,
Cealy

The thing that really sucks, is on Saturday morning, I couldn't write fast enough. I was in the Zone. I love it when I get in the Zone. I was cruising, could've finished the whole story, but, had to go to work. Then it was Valentine's Day night. I'm sure the SO would have loved, 'Sorry, can't wine you, dine you and 69 you, tonight. I got to write, I'm in the Zone, you know.'

Argh.

I had this problem once and was offered a sound bit of advice which works for me. I think it came from Dixon. He just told me to write anything and everything until my mind cleared and it works. It doesn't even have to be legible, all I know is that it worked for me.

Good luck

Carl

Sometimes I go entire months without being able to write anything. Everything I try to write at those times sound like an 8th grader wrote it. But then there are times when my fingers can't type fast enough for the ideas that are popping into my head. Hell most of the time inspiration hits me at the most inopportune time like at work or in the car. At those times I just hope to have something handy to write with and on so I can jot down my ideas. If not then they go to that great writer's corner in the sky and is rarely ever heard from again.

When a victime of writer's block the only thing that seems to work for me is to stop and play a video game (RPG preferrably) or listen to a book (since the advent of audio books and the internet I seldon open a hardcopy..lol.. bad me)... The one book that really gets my juices flowing though is Stephen King's -- On Writing.. He has a lot of interesting ideas and exercises in that book. Tips that have helped me and, dare I say, hurt my writing style. But hey you really can't argue with him because he is Stephen King. Although I still love reading The Books of Blood -- CLive Barker.. He's the first author that inspired me to write... (bad Clive...lol)

Sometimes if it is a specific passage where you are blocked, and you know what is to happen next, it might help to skip over that passage and come back to it later. It also helps if you are writing a couple of things at the same time. Being blocked on one story doesn't meant you will be blocked on everything.
