Despite what has been said by a few people here, I find first person the easiest way to write erotica. That, combined with this thread gave me an idea.

How about a new chain story, with one addition a week by a different volunteer? All first person, all one character. It could become kind of the Literotica soap, and as it's real time could be eligible for all the competitions (I think).

How about it? Anyone interested?

I volunteer myself to write the first one, but I'm interested in ideas for settings and characters, including the protagonist.

My current main Lit project is a kind of a life story of a woman, but the main character in this doesn't have to be female.

Post your suggestions here, and if it takes off, I'll write the first over the weekend. then we can see if anyone wants to take it up.

I'd be willing to give it a go, *wink* as long as I don't have to go first, since plot creation is NOT my strong point.

Whisp :rose:

My diary would rival the geat tragedies of history:

January 3rd) Watched TV, chatted on Lit, waited for the phone to ring.
January 4th) Chatted on Lit, watched TV, waited for the phone to ring.
January 5th) Waited for the phone to ring, watched TV, chatted on Lit.
January 6th) Waited for the phone to ring, chatted on Lit, watched TV.

A life? Sounds great! Where can I download one?

Well, yeah, mine too. That's why I write on here the life I'd like to have.

January 8th) Found out secret plot to take over the world, picked up hunk in a bar, had sex.
January 9th) Saved the world, met hunk at celebration party, had sex.
January 10th) Was abducted by aliens, met hunk in space ship, had sex.
January 11th) Zapped aliens to kingdom come, drove back to Earth in space ship, kept highly advanced technical gizmo called The Orgasmizer, went home, masturbated.

Okay, I get it, diaries not your thing. Anyone else?

I would like the chance to participate, but I don't have any experience writing in Dear Diary form. I will give it a shot though. How exactly to chain stories work? Do we send our story to the other participants for approval before submitting it to Lit or do we just decided on the order in which we will write and submit once we are finished with our part?

Do you have an idea of what you want to write about? If you have a basic storyline for the first story, I might could come up with some character or setting suggestions.

I'm not exactly sure how the chains work, myself. Anyone who knows more, drop me a line. Maybe we could have a fictional author, and pool our resources by posting suggested stories in the sdc., before posting the finished submission once we'd agreed on it.

I don't have any particular genre in mind, and it might be nice to touch on everything, and give the collective a shot at the survivor contest too.

Setting is really about character, in this situation. You could have someone who's job, or hobby, brings her/him sexual adventures. It could be a road trip (maybe she could start from where I am, and visit the towns where all the authors live, for some reason). Maybe they are somewhere where people come to them, like a hooker or a cult leader.

These are all just my ideas; I am open to suggestion (I may have that tattooed somewhere).

How bout a grad student, researching sexuality and how the internet has affected norms and mores? Your inteprid Protag could then meet people online, then meet a crossection of them for real to do interviews. That should give him/her ample opportunity for sexual adventures and allow each author to write in a genre they feel comfortable with as such a researcher would proably run upon every concieveable kink. Each diry entry could be prefaced with a short paragraph from her research journal that would let the reader know what Kink he/she is checking out today, so you could warn readers of what the content is as well as give a little set up.

I like this idea and I'd write a chapter for it :)

I think colleen's idea is a really good one myself....sounds like it could work quite well :)

Colleen's idea intrigues . . . I'd be up for it!

Ditto!

You'd have to put me down for part 27 or something, though. I have rather a backlog at the moment, don't I, Lewd? ;)

I'm getting back to it right now. :D

It takes some preparation

Anyone who is interested in background to the work involved in writing a chain story should look here.

It gives an insight into the way we - especially Judo - brought the 'Talisman' chain together in 2002. Be warned, it's 15 pages!

Alex.

PS: No. I'm not volunteering for this one

I like this idea a lot, but I am concerned that we don't go too minority interest, otherwise all the entries are going to be in the fetish category.

I'd also prefer to keep the entries short, a couple of pages at the most, if we're going to bash out one a week. That doesn't allow too much time for changing the setup. Plus I, for one, don't know too much about what a research journal looks like.

I would like the protagonist to be a real actor, not just an observer, in the action. I would prefer there to be some continuing characters as well, to give a range of people to identify with.

I realise, of course, that not all of this is achievable., and some of it is going to have to bend with the wind, as it were.

Given the medium, I do like the idea of meeting people online., and of researching something. Perhaps the idea of randomness should come into this?

One idea I had was of someone winning the lottery. There are 49 numbers in the UK lottery, conveniently around how many publishing weeks we have left in the year; perhaps someone could could flippantly ask for lottery number suggestions from a site like this, and then say that if they won they would owe everyone any favour they wanted.

Then of course, they win...

No need in this scenario to feed a stict diet of fetisitic stories. Obviously every aspect of sexuality could be addressed. Just as obviously the protag is going to run into some quirks, but the majority of the episodes can be as plain or wild as the authors imagination. I think the very versitility of the idea should allow the widest possible range of authors to give it a go.

As to the protag being an observer, it seems to me the story would be a lot more fun if he/she found himself/herself drawn into the sexual action. Perhaps because ht protag feels they should experience what they are reporting on or for whatever reason each author finds the protag is moved to join in, to experience rather than just report.

I cannot see any way to keep recuring characters, unless perhaps the protag makes incremental reports to a faculty advisor of perhaps classroom peer group? Perhaps one of the other students goes with him or her to observe thier research methods?

Cahab, simply because you've proposed it I am interested, but so far I don't understand how it will work. When it gets more fixed, let me know; I'll check in on the thread too.

I'm interested. Colly's idea appeals but does it have to be a grad student's research into sex? I mean that sounds so academic. Are there going to be interviews or transcripts or such?

Count me in

I could be into the whole grad student thing (having just finished grad school, I know that place very well). I can see the sex research thing as workable too. Or perhaps she's been so focused on school for so long, she decides to go out and make up for lost time (I know that place too!). However, I'd like to see the Diary as more of a personal reflection...this is what happened and how I feel about it and such.

I'd be happy to be in on the early part of this as well :)

As to how Chain Stories work, this is what is says in the FAQ:

A Chain Story is one in which several (3 or more) authors collaborate to create a story on a specific theme or topic. The first author writes the first chapter of the story according to the theme or topic. The next author reads the previous chapter and picks up where the first author left off, continuing the story as he or she sees fit. And so on, and so on...until the last chapter is completed.
Chain Stories are a special category on Literotica. To start one, you must do the following:

1) Post your idea to the Author's Hangout in the Bulletin Board and round up any interested authors who would like to participate. If you already have a group of writers who are interested, then continue on to step #2.

2) Once you know how many authors are interested, you must get a schedule together of who will do the first chapter, who will do the second, etc. Then, you must decide how much time will be between chapters to allow each author to write their piece. We suggest that you leave no less than 4 days, but no more than 8. A week is generally a good amount of time, but it's all up to you!

3) The first author should create a story submission called "Chain Story - [Name of Chain]". In this submission, paste in the title of the chain and the schedule of who is doing which chapter(s) and when they'll be submitting them. If you've been planning this in the Author's Hangout and have posted the schedule there, you can simply paste a link to the thread containing the information into the story submission. We ask that you post the entire chain schedule before submitting the first part of the chain.

4) The first person submits his or her chapter to us, selecting the category "Chain Stories". Any story which is submitted to "Chain Stories" without following these steps will be moved to whatever category the subject matter dictates.

I'm in... (Reposted here)

Okay, I've read the links you all posted, and I think I have an idea of how we can proceed.

We pick a name, any female name will do for now, and we make her the protagonist. For fun I'll call her Diana Troy for now, Dye for short. Now Diana Troy is a college student majoring in psychology, and hoping to become a psychiatrist who deals with sexual aberrations in the future. For her doctorate she needs to write a thesis with just such a theme to it to garner her professor's favor. To this end she decides to take a job and join a troop of strippers for the entire summer vacation period, one that allows her to travel all over the country to different strip joints so that she can observe, and participate in every sexual aberration conceived by humans, and that is allowed here at Lit. To be faithful to her thesis she keeps an explicate diary of every adventure that takes place throughout her journey.

In this way each author can write about what they want to, and where they want it to take place, and all in the first person POV. There would be a set group of women to work with, and plenty of newcomers to suit any author's situation. The hard part will be the first entry, as they have to introduce the group of girls that Diana Troy will be touring with, but even that can change as things do in real life, someone may leave, so another is added as the story goes on. I suggest using no less than 6 girls plus our Diana Troy. There can be just as many regular strippers that work at each location, but our girls are the visiting team, and only work in any one location for just one weekend, or at the most a whole week giving the local girls those weekends, or that week off to spend with their families on a vacation. So in effect our ladies can fuck their way across America, and get paid for stripping at the same time. And in this way Diana gets everything she needs put into her diary for her thesis by the time this is finished.

There are strippers, and porno stars who actually do this all the time. All of them are over 18, and that's all that counts here. I've talked to some of them at the Bush Gardens up in Anchorage when I was doing a bit of research on an unrelated story while living up there. Never did understand why they called it the Bush Garden, as most of the girls shaved their pubic hair off. LOL But I can tell you this, any one of them could have been a Penthouse Pet of the year. Which is probably why they made so much money doing lap dances, and such. Of course every troop has a chaperone, and she also is the manager of the troop, usually over thirty, not unattractive herself, and sees that they aren't on drugs, or hooking on the side. She gets paid by the promoter who sponsors the girls, and he gets paid by the clubs, bars, etc. who invite them to come and entertain. The girls get paid strictly from what they take out on the floor dancing, or up on the stage, and half the cost of their non-alcoholic drinks that the customers buy for them to sit in their booth. In any event the believability factor is there, with plenty of room to embellish what our imaginations can think these girls into. Now I'm not saying that the real life women who do this are promiscuous, but the idea that they are is prevalent in our society, and easier to fit in our required joint diary venture. They certainly dress the part of a tart to perform, and that is advantageous also.

Now I could start the ball rolling if no one else wants to, but I'll leave that up to those who already volunteered for this joint venture as well as our hostess.

As Always

Dirt Man
