Public comments.

I just checked my story stats and I noticed a new feature: Public Comments. It looks like us authors will be in for a new treat, and something else to obsess about. ;)

I'm gonna have a hunt around for more info on this, but if anybody else knows anything, please tell us. :)

Sounds scary. I'm turning it on and see what happens. Maybe I'll implode or something.

This is good, I've posted publically for you. The good thing about it is that it may stop people bombing leading stories as it shows what you voted against your name.

Should get some reaction.

OK, I've turned-on the comment feature on all my old stories and poems - wonder if anyone will post on the old stuff.

I wonder what happens if you go back and turn it off on a story after it has been used? Just in case we get roasted by someone who doesn't care if they're exposed (a very few members come to mind, but who knows). Oh well, some new fun ways to get acclimatation or humiliation - wait, that's from my stories, isn't it?

-FF :D
ps. LouLou - Love your christmas tentacles - you always have such delicious looking AV's.

ROFL

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it!

seems like a good idea

yep, a good idea to be sure, be nice to see what people really think and do to back up their thoughts.

i've only got one story on here so i aint too qualified to speak, plus hubby has to explain the voting and that to me every time, baffles me. thick cow i am:D

we checked my story for the first time a couple of nights ago in the charts like, 72 votes so far and a score of 3.76 thing is hubby reckons with the pile of nice feedback i've had all telling me they voted high for the story, the actual score means there's a lot of fucking liars out there, or a lot of secret voters with twitchy assholes about there own tales and scores or a mean streak in general. that's old misery guts for you, giggle, he always looks on the dark side.:D

I've switched mine on

They're all on.

took a while.

what happens next?

I switched all mine on too, I am curious to see how this goes as well.

I don't think there are a lot of liars out there. There are a lot of people that just stick "1"s on stories when they are bored. I don't even think they read them all. I can't get to more than about 10 stories in a week and I am homemaker with only college as an added distraction.

well well

now that's something i'll never understand, bit like voting for the opposite political party to the one you support cos you're bored i suppose, well well voting low without even reading a story, makes the voting system look rather like a waste of time, which i suppose it is really.

what does it mean?

what does it mean?

We can write about stories to our hearts content. Many threads or start your own.

What is this feature all about?

Not posting audio tapes?

Oh, oh. I did say yes by all my stories (all three of them that is). :D

Is this to stop the unfair voting that seems to be going on?

Does anyone know why?

Oh, I just noticed it a few minutes ago and came over to find out more about it. Gonna go turn it on for my story.

I've clicked it on for my two latest stories......like everyone else I await comments with baited breath!

Thanks for asking Auntie Loulou, I was going to do the same thing. Just going to turn them all on now as I seem to be getting a few more reads recently on old stories.

Does it take some time for our stories' pages to upgrade? I turned comments on, but nowhere to comment yet...

Lauren

I did a test post on PierceStreet just as soon as he turned it on, seemed to go through all right and displayed, I think, on the story page.

It is a bit fiddly getting out of the posting loop, they may need to retune that else people will back out without commenting.

Also allows the opportunity to edit your post AND displays your vote next to your comments.

Will's ;)

PS Perky did well

Well, I've finally got around to turning mine on. I was a bit reluctant to try it until I'd heard from others first. Not that I'm chicken, or anything. ;)

I got all excited, then had to go out and see my Mum. Ho hum, guess we just wait and see what happens now. This is a very cool thing, thanks Laurel and Manu! :D

Lou

P.S. Thanks FF. :rose:

P.P.S. Gauche, Auntie Loulou was hoping you might know something.

Yes, Perks did very well. My plan worked. *wicked evil grin*

I look in my CP and all seems well, but nothing changed on the page yet. I guess I'll just have to wait. ;)

Those interested to see this in action, click on PierceStreets story link - 3rd post on this thread.
Scroll to the bottom of the story, below votes you will see the public comments, click and read.

Ok, I think I know what's going on. I turned on comments on some of my poems and it upgraded immediately.

I don't think this feature is working for any story on the Winter Holiday Contest. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't know, Reo, it might just be a case of us going into our CP's and checking as often as we can.

I think you're right, Lauren. It's turned on in all my stories, except the Winter Holiday Contest entry.

This is really cool. At the end of your story you can ask to see all public comments.

Now I'm off to see what else I can find.
