Here I picked Incest for the variety (I prefer the older aunt and young nephew scenes, vs. daddy/girl), lesbian, and mature (w/the interest in women like myself).

I responded to thread (1) but wanted to bump this so they stayed together.

It's great to see such open minded people here - I knew I loved Lit for a reason. Who says females are only interested in "romance"?
:rose:

My picks are usually on the Lesbian Sex, NonConsent, Anal, Group Sex categories. Occasionally Incest.

We could choose more than one category? D****ed! I missed that!

Well, it's Interracial and Humour.

Non-consent, incest, BDSM (particularly if I can find femdom) group sex and fantasy. (not necesarily in that order.)

Nonconsent presses my buttons...

....looks like it does for lots of others too :)

Nonconsent all the way, baby...

I usually only read BDSM or nonconsent...BDSM mostly.

from the Male categories #2 thread (didn't feel OK posting there):

Reshbod said:
I really like mature and loving wives. Give me a sexy older woman over a young "barely legal" teen any day.
Bless you, Reshbod. And I was presuming most of the male mature votes were for old fogies and barely legals.

Perdita :rose:

p.s. for anyone interested in 'mature' love and sex I urge you to see Paul Cox's film "Innocence".

Erotic couplings, loving wives, incest and interracial. Been reading quite a few lesbian stories on other sites, but not here. Hm, so if Lit has a gay male, a lesbian, and transgendered category, when will they end up with a bisexual and trysexual one...;)

Thanks for these two threads Lauren. For me, there are a few small surprises among both the high and low scores so far tabulated, but overall there are no big shocks.

I'm always amazed by the popularity of incest stories. Maybe I need to read more of them to discover the attraction. I've seen recent scientific reports listing exhibitionism and voyeurism as the two most popular sexual behaviour types in real life, so I would have expected something higher than 11.32 percent there, but maybe it's more fun to do than to read about.

Humour and satire scoring also seems a little low. I've always found readers like to laugh, no matter what they're reading. Perhaps humour must be an unexpected surprise to be truly appreciated in erotica. Maybe it's not the sort of thing one plans to read. Still we all like to laugh in bed, I hope, so I wonder why this category rates only 10 percent.

Romance scoring high is not a surprise, even though it seems hard for some to accept. I like to guard against becoming too blasé about sex. I don't care who you are, there is a special excitement to your first intimacy with a new lover, and the bond between two human beings is a big part of the pleasure, even if it's just a one time quickie. The bond may be brief but still gratifying. Romantic ideals underscore good sex, and sex lends romance an earthy realism. I find that by approaching erotica from a romantic angle, my characters can live, even if they are doing things that are technically impossible; just plain silly. Letting a sexy character live, for me anyway, is what results in the hottest sex scenes. I don't have to plan it. A good character just does it.

I learned my craft writing for newspapers and periodicals, most of which counted women as their largest single reader group. I can't break the habit. I like aiming my copy at women. I may miss the mark sometimes, but I enjoy the challenge of delving into the female mind to discover what women want and don't want. For a man it's like exploring an exotic paradise that can be appreciated but never fully understood. I want to know what women like and don't like and, most of all, which sensations or fetishes they crave but may be too coy to admit to. This knowledge makes my personal life richer as well as improving my writing.

The final results of this poll, answered by a group of women who are probably more uninhibited about admitting their sexual fantasies (if a little more jaded in the bargain) than the average woman, will be printed out and kept on file by me. It's valuable information for any writer who wants to appeal to women, so thanks again for thinking of this Lauren: :rose:

Thanks, GaryBob. Wanna retribute and go bump up the male readers' threads? They're almost slipping out of page 1, by now. :D

The popularity of 'incest', for women readers, is surprising. Anyone care to state, What type of incest is appealing, and/or cite favorite stories?

J.

Where is BDSM?

And what about Clown Sex? (Or the more generic "Circus Geeks/Carnies")

I read bdsm, non consent, anal, erotic couplings, lesbian sex, toys, group sex

Odd, but so far I haven't written what I read.

Been a bit busy in real life, so I hadn't noticed this before.

I voted sf, non-consent and mind control. Sf is first on my list, the other two occasionally.
I'll have to vote on the other thread as well I think. BDSM.

Really curious, why such a high non-consent vote, would anyone like to explain that?
