Just for fun -- let's talk about lesser known words. There's lots of them, familiar primarily to Scrabble players, and writers. Oh, right, that's us. So if you have a few favorite words, let's share.
I'll try fruticose to start with. Let's try a multiple choice answer:

1) an island in the west indies

2) a crystalline sugar found in sweet fruits

3) of or like shrub

4) Bush (oh, right, that's the same as #3)

no peeking now :p

Bellicose

1.a warmer for the abdomen

2. an opera by Benjamin Britten.

3. quarrelsome.

4. a stye of trousers.

Well, seeing as how FRUCTOSE is the sugar from a fruit, I will pick #3.

I sure hope you aren't a school teacher.....I can see looking up the word and giving the definition...but DAMN! You seem to have a knack for choosing "interesting" distractors in your multiple choice questions.....not fair.... ;-)

yes on bowdlerize

but you need a new rapproche to rapprochement

i haven't balderdashed -- but i'm guessing it's similar

Ahhh... rapprochement - # 4 then?\

Balderdash needs at least 4 players, really - pull a card, read and spell the word - each player makes up a definition, then the person who pulled the card reads all the fake and one true definitions... and people vote on which definition they think is real. You get points for guessing correctly, and whomever's definition gets the most votes also gets points... I don't rememer the details of how you score and win.
