Is "Dom" another word for "Asshole"?

I've yet to meet a man here who calls himself a "Dom" who hasn't proven to be a total prick.

So I'm wondering, are there any out there that can redeem this word? Or are the studies right and most men who feel the need to dominate women sexually are compensating for lack of control in the rest of their lives?

Examples please.

Then I suppose I ought to ask you if you consider me a total prick.

There are other guys out there I know who are Doms who don't exactly whip it out and flag it in everyone's face. They're reserved about it, for whatever reason. I don't necessarily want to name most of the names, though, because I don't believe they've been public about it.

Richard49 (is that the right number?) is a good example for you, though. He's thoroughly a Dom, but also a kind and considerate human being.
 
I could answer that these 'Dom's you keep comign across are nothing more than insecure jerks who would love nothing more than a sub who can't talk back. I could elaborate on how they're probably 15 years old and love their adolescent power. (Not you, JMJ)

There are a lot of wannabe's online. Not to mention, being a dominate is much more than what you say.... sometimes it's how you say it. Your body language. Your actions. The way you look at people and things. If you really wanted to meet a dominate and feel what it is like to be under his/her power, I suggest you go to your local munch group (BDSM get together where people just chat, no sexual stuff or playing happening).

I wouldn't be so limiting as to base your entire judgement of dominates by what you see online and here at Literotica. That would be like saying "I think all Aussies are a bunch of wacko's" because of what I see Don K Dyke (or whatever his nickname is) posting.
 
As Never once explained, there aren't any qualifications to being one, a person can simply make the claim.


Kinda like checking ethnicity boxes on an application.

sunny, in my experience, the more a guy tells you he's a Dom, advertises it, etc, the more likely he is to be an asshole posing under cover of being a Dom, the better to prey on many weak-willed women who profess to be submissives, but are really abuse-junkies.

Each type of person is just a poser for the real thing, which is much harder to find, mostly because they don't brag about it.
