Okay this has to qualify for the weirdest thread I've seen here in a long time. But I have a good bee story.

My grandmother was deathly allergic to beestings -- back in the days when over-the-counter antidotes did not exist. A beesting for her meant an immediate rush to the hospital, and once she nearly didn't get there in time. My grandfather HAD to be aware of this. It was quite dramatic and is still part of family folklore 60 years later. You see, my grandfather kept bees....close to the house. Go figure!

...ring around the roses... pockets fulls of posses... AhChOooo.. were falls down...

?

Yes

I have maintained a bee-hive but the wages-per-bee rose so much in the 1990s that I had to lay them all off. We tried everything to keep that operation going but it was not working.

Now I make all the honey myself. The secretions are somewhat painful.

I never kept bees, but I've always planned on keeping at least one hive once I've settled down in my own place - bees are one of my favourite insects (after spiders).

Not those Africanized bees though - I'm not that interested in getting loads of honey from them, I want bees with a decent temperament lol
