I happen to travel to New York City for the next weekend (Thu eve - Sun), thus I urgently need shopping-, clubbing- and any other tips of the kinky kind anyone can come up with as I am not travelling alone but in perfect company for a ride on the kinky side so to speak!

Will be leaving in three days so hurry up guys - spill the secrets!

I've been to the club called Paddles - it was kind of a small space, but interesting and full of people actually playing, with a fair amount of larger equipment available. That's the extent of my NYC BDSM experience. Have fun! :)

Hecate, I will about 180 miles away from NYC in the wilds of Connectcut. I would love to get together for tea, coffee, drink. I am only 1 1/2 hours away on the train. Maybe Zipman would like to join us?

Just for fairness reasons I should tell you that I will be mainly a Tourist, I need to do the Statue of Liberty cruise, the Empire State building and all that !! so probably you feel "cheated" for taking a LOOOOONG drive to NY for a couple of hours (so I better tell you straight away my schedule is tight as it is .... but DAMN, I'd love to meet you (yes, you and you and you *lol* - seriously! Eb, MissT and of course zip! and whoever else of the people I have grown to care for around here!)

Well of course, you should be a tourist. I never drive into the city if I can help it. And I have often taken the train for a day trip. It is very inexpensive, and with the nice weather, it would be very enjoyable. If we can talk Zip into joining us, it would really be fun cause I have not seen him since October, and miss him.

If you like, we can go to Toys and Babeland to shop.

Hey Hecate! What time were you planning on having tea at? I had plans but am trying to rearrange.

I will post some places to go for toys and/or clubs by sometime tomorrow night.

Venue to be confirmed

We'll probably be working out our itinary tomorrow evening, but may need to get a full map - rather than my basic one - before we can pick a suitable venue.

The only three definites (though we haven't worked out the order yet) are the Empire State, Statue of Liberty and Bloomingdales - is Toys in Babeland anywhere near any of those? (Well, not on the island, obviously!)

Can't help but to remind you not to miss Saint Mark. A lot of neat little shops around that neighborhood, very umm...I guess I can say "interesting-looking" people around...and to top it all off; I don't know if you care; but VERY good food around there. Drop by, you'll love it!

It looks like I will be seeing a film at noon with a friend at the Tribeca Film festival on Sunday. So three pm seems perfect for a meet.

If you are staying in Manhattan near Times Square, there is a visitor's center next to the theatre that has Aida.

There you can grab all the free maps of everywhere you can stand.

I always refresh my maps there. I also get a fun pass for $4.00 that allows you unlimited subway and bus rides for 24 hours. They also have one for more time too.

I have been to Toys in Babeland, and it is not in the same place as the things you mentioned. But it is not a bad walk if the weather is good, and it is a short downtown bus ride (especially with a Fun Pass).

Ok, worked out a rough itinary, and it looks like we'll be in Soho on Sunday afternoon - I guess there may be some, uh, interesting shops there?

We're doing the Statue of Liberty in the morning - any idea how long we should allow for that, including ferry trips?

Where would be a good place to meet in Soho?

A very close friend of mine who lives in Chelsea does "tours" of the local sex shops when out-of-town visitors come by... lots of good stuff in Chelsea.
  • DV8 and Purple Passion recently combined into one store at 211 West 20th (between 7th and 8th Aves). Phone (212) 807-0486. DV8 is the more fetishy side of things, but I've made a few purchases at Purple Passion too (including a gorgeous corset!). Hours are listed on their website.

I have been to DeMask, and it is one awesome store. It you love leather and latex, it is the place to be.

They even have latex stockings!

Maybe Zip or someone else knows as I have never been to the Statue of Liberty. I should think 2 or three hours should do it.
