Hi all. After a stupid comment of "If no-one else wants the job, I'll moderate round three" and no-one else dissenting, I've ended up with the job. Memo to self - Keep mouth shut next time :D.

Rules:

1. Stories that have been nominated before cannot be nominated again.
2. Eight stories will be accepted as nominations and we will operate on a first come, first served basis. Post a link and title on this thread to be nominated.
3. A panel of between 5 and 10 judges are needed. Judges need to nominate themselves and then be seconded by another poster. First nominated and then seconded will get the jobs. However anyone who has a story in the comp cannot be a judge and a judge cannot nominate one of their own stories.

Clear? Good.

Any qs, PM me.

The Earl

ok well i'll be a judge..if anyone wants to second me that is*L*

Earl..I am sure no one else volunteered because they knew you were the best man for the job ;)

Dear Earl,

I'll second ELady's nomination. Anyone who uses a black clad pink velvet sausage wallet for an avathingie is definitely qualified.

I'd like to offer a story for judging...

but I need to know if it has to be a new one? I have several stories posted on Literotica, under two names, but I've never offered one for peer dissection before. If it has to be a new story, it might be a while as I have four or five shorts cluttering up my hard drive, none of which are anywhere near completion.

So, can I offer one of my older stories? If I can, I'd like it to be A Date for the Prom. Originally written in second person and intended for an audience of one, it was rewritten with her approval and offered for general enjoyment (I hope).

If I can't enter my story, put me down as a judge, if anyone will second me!

Alex

Alex, I don't think we'e discussed (or at least decided upon) any rules about submission as yet,I may very well be wrong, if so I am sure someone will correct me!*L* but personally i think it should be new submissions that get judged to encourage current writers to write there best, that is only my feelings on the matter though*S*

Svenskaflicka, quoting the big man himself(from the first post in this thread)

"However anyone who has a story in the comp cannot be a judge and a judge cannot nominate one of their own stories."

So if you want to nominate your story you can't be a judge....and vice versa, so you need to decide which you would prefer*S*

?

I'd like to be a part of this, BUT:

a). I don't think I'm qualified to judge, and
b). I have only one story I feel is worthy of consideration. The formatting of that story got so totally effed up, that the first third is all in italics. Therefore, it's unreadable.
c). ^%*&*&)(_)(_+%$^

Ergo, I'll just be a spectator.

Mathgirl I think the only rule about being qualified is if you post feedback on peoples stories, so if you do that you can be a judge :D

I wouldn't say I am the most judge like person either, but i think the wider the variety in type of judges there is the fairer the final vote will be. Everyone has different tastes and ways of judging a story :D

We have two stories and just one judge. At the moment English lady is the sole decider of where the award goes. Anyone else feeling adventurous enough to join her?

The Earl

Even if you judged the last two CC awards, you can still be a judge in this one. Just thought I'd emphasise that.

The Earl

If it's only new stuff, I don't have anything anywhere near ready. I guess, having been around here in various guises since April 2000, and having 30+ stories or part-stories posted, that I don't qualify as a new writer either.

If the qualification for acting as a judge is having given feedback then I'm partly qualified, as I have given some, nearly always privately direct to the author.

I stand by my offer to judge, if I'm wanted.

Alex

PS:

Flicka, with a title like that I'd be tempted to read your story in any event. And roll on The Order of the Phoenix!

Alex, it's old stories. To be a judge you just have to have participated either here, on the SDC or the feedback forum and find soemone to second your nomination.

The Earl

so is it ANY story you can nominate then Earl?

*feeling lonely as the only judge*

eek..thats a lot of responsibility for a lady...*L*

Mr Chairman,
I'll second Alex de K's nomination. We're lucky to have him.

MathGirl: Be a damn judge. I'll second you. You are easily competent enough and as highly qualified to pontificate as anyone else on here.

The Earl

I'd like to be a judge, if you'll have me.
I always try to give feedback on stories I take the time to read and would like to participate further in Lit.

Anyone want to second me?

If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve. G.T.Sherman

Thank you, dear, but I respectfully decline. Pontificate, yes. Judge, no.

I'll either nominate or second the nomination of NWRain, as the case may be.

I re-propose Diane (Mathgirl) you don't have to write any critiques (do you Earl?) only vote by numbers so just be a damn judge will you?

Gauche

hmmm...

well...seeing as I'm only busy with Survivor and my chain story which I swear to god i'll finish some day, I would like a chance to judge this round.

Seconds, anyone?

and, if no one seconds me <sticks tongue out at offenders> then I'll nominate one of my own stories mwahahaha.

So, that's that.

Chicklet

Nothing in the rules

I propose chicklet.

I'd also like to proposition chicklet but I'm too old for that kind of thing, and too

Gauche

I'll second you Chicklet, despite you stealing my signature.

Judges so far: English Lady, Alex de Kok, Chicklet.
Stories so far: Svensk's.

Any more for any more?

The Earl

Mr Chairman

How about Gauchie? Please, please?

Not me, though. No thank you.
