The reason why I wasn't Litting last night was because my dog ate the cord that connects the surge protector to the outlet. Well, not ate really, but just shredded. He also worked over the phone cord that connects my dial-up ISP, and did a fair bit of nibbling on my speaker cord before I awoke and scolded him.

He's just lucky he's cute, or else I would have whaled on him.

Not that I would wish harm on him, but I really wish he hadn't managed to unplug it first. The juice it would have thrown into him would have taught him.

heh

Aren't dogs great?

Glad your pup's ok. Glad you're back.

One of my old dogs ate everything ...some of the memorable things I literally pulled out of his ass while he tried to poop was...full pair of pantyhose, 4 feet of curtain cord, an entire wool mitten and to many socks and hairties to mention...

My cat eats foam rubber....all foam rubber. Our speaker covers, my yoga mat, our camping mattresses, shoe inserts, any foam rubber packaging, the underpaddung of the carpet - if she can work any loose. Luckily for us - and her - she hasn't been swallowing it, just chewing off bits and spitting it out all over the place.

Idiotic feline.

Feline muzzle? :)

My cat eats all the plastic in the house. Well the plastic that's on like plastic bags from the grocery store. She swallows it too, and throws it all up at a later time. I have no idea why, but my house is now plastic bag free.

Like I said, my dog doesn't eat so much as shred. Lots of male puppies are like this, I'm told, but I'll be happy when he grows out of it.

And so will our upholstery.

I’m having the same problem with my puppy. Bitter Apple spray. Works like magic. It tastes like nail polish remover, but like 10 time worse. It won’t hurt them just teach them that it’s not good to eat just anything. Works great.

meant you did not well train the dog.
Well, it's an adopted stray, so yeah, it's not well-trained.

J.B., I'm told dogs won't go near things that have been sprayed down with hairspray. Any truth to that?

With our old dog, we put pepper on the floor where we didn't want him snooping, and that seemed to work.

I don't know about that. My pup's nosey she'll get in to anything she can eat it without a thought to the smell and won't realize it tastes bad until like 5 seconds after it's in her mouth.

It was a bit hard for me to belive that this could work and honestly I was afraid that she might grow to like it and eat the stuff even more, but she hates the stuff and they learn right away what not to chew on.
Petco.com has a lot of great articles that give you ideas on how to train a dog.
