Seven Suggestions

I have some ideas, some of which may have been mentioned before, which I think will help the site:

1: It would be really great to be able to look up a story -
- by author
- by title, regardless of its category

2: When one brings up a thread for approval or rejection, the default should be set at rejection. Either that, or make it so there is a way to remove an approved thread. It is far too easy to approve a thread by accident!

3: Could it be made a little more clear that a "5" is a high mark and a "1" is a low mark? I've seen really good threads get really low grades, and I suspect it's because people meant to rate them high but chose the wrong end of the scale.

4: It would be nice to be able to withdraw a submitted thread that has not been approved. In this way, we could eliminate the clutter caused by threads that were submitted to stories which no longer have active editors, and remove the "red lights" of rejected threads that we do not intend to re-submit.

5: I'd like to know when people add on to my threads in other stories besides my own. Is there a way of creating an alert that tells me that? I'd also like to have an alert for when my threads are approved by other authors.

6: When I pull up the "My Threads" page, it would be nice to see the threads organized in such a way that each story has its own page. As it is, I must hunt around quite a bit to find a thread I've just submitted.

7: There is an error that I've noticed on the thread approval page. When someone submits a thread to me, there is a link that would allow me to view the previous thread. It is important to be able to do this because sometimes people submit threads in the wrong place, or I as an editor simply wish to remind myself of what happened in the scene before. As it is, this link doesn't work and returns an error.

These are my suggestions, I hope they aid in the potential improvement of the site.

Is anything going to change?

I agree fully with the ideas that you have expressed above, and hope that they are implemented. I have seen the same basic set of ideas expressed several times over the past couple of months with no apparent response or acknowledgement. Which brings me to my point, when are some changes going to be made to make the site navigation easier?

I would really like a way to get rid of the dead threads as I have over 6 pages of threads to look through, and sometimes it is hard to find a particular thread.

Obviously I am in no position to complain about it as no charge for the service is required from me, but I would like some feedback about what is the issue with making some changes. Are any contemplated next month, next year?

It would help to know that someone is actually reading the suggestions that are given and has a list that will be worked on at some point.

I think just knowing the site moderator agrees and has some plan to make some of the changes would be great.

:D

My thoughts...

Here are my thoughts as I have many of the same problems as the other chyoo'ers.

First thing I want to mention is gystex's problem the link not working for "view previous thread" I notice that doesn't work. Here is what I do. When I am aproving a thread and need to view the page before it, I click the link and it pops open in a new window with the error message. In the address bar I delete the {STORY_ID=} or whatever it says, including the {} brackets. The I type my story ID in there, which for my story is 771.

How do you find your story ID?
go to 'My Stories' click on your story, the status bar at the bottom will say "view details". The page about your story will open and if you look at the address bar there will be the link and clearly is says 'story_id=' followed by a number.

Give that a try.

Just an add on for the average reader could you show when the stories have been updated without going to the front page.

how about something to tells you about recent threas. maybe a recent thread section for all the stories.

BINGO!

I agree with everything everyone has been saying!

I remember reading in one of the newsletters a while ago that revisions were being made, and coming out in a new release... but I haven't seen it lately!

Now to mention it, I haven't seen a newsletter in quite a while either!

I seem to recall that Manu and Laurel (site owners/operators) usually take an extended vaction during this time of year, to do some site-seeing.... Could be that they are not available right now, or are busy working on something else.

We might need to go "en masse" back to Literotica and raise some noise!

Who is the moderator of these posts anyway... and how do we know if our comments are really being heard?

Help!
