She fidgeted uncomfortably. Something in the back of Marliegh's mind told her that something was up. She couldn't quite tell who this person was or what he was feeling. It was both a shock and a relief to her as she looked him over carefully. But there was something...something...somethig unnatural about him, but she couldn't place her finger on it. She may not have been able to sense his emotions, but she could still read his face and body language. He was a somber, solemn character. Lonesome, even. Marliegh's heart softened a bit.

She watched him light his cigarette. "You know, if it's cigarettes you like, this stuff is better. Same stuff that's in heroine they use in niccotine." She stopped for a moment and surveyed him skeptically. She didn't know what to make of this fellow. She wasn't use to strangers, especially strangers like him.

"If you need a fix, I can hook you up." She said, quite business like. And to her, that's what it was. Business. She'd adopted a tone of formality quite a long time ago and had been utilizing it ever since. The warmth faded as she thought about Jake. He'd be less angry and he'd forget about her tardiness if she'd sold all of her stock. She was running short on time.

"But if you're not interested in doing business, then I have to go. Yeah, it's safe, but no, you can't walk me there. If we got nothin' else to talk about I have to be on my way before I get in trouble. I'm already wasting time." If he made her wait too much longer the hour would be up and she'd have to call his cellphone again and tell him she'd been attacked.

She tapped her foot impatiently and looked around. Jake had sent a couple of his guys to watch her every now and then - just to make sure she was doing her job. She'd never gotten in trouble because she was always focused, but if this guy wasn't going to help her she was going to have to make a run for it.

She took her hat off and tried to fix her pony tail and quickly pulled it back over her eyes.

Angelus was not at all surprised that she was getting ready to run away from him. He was used to by now how humans reacted even after one tries to help them. She was just like the rest of them but not quite. He knew she was one that he would have to look after. What ever she was doing she was not doing it for herself.

Kids like her were all over New York city streets, paddling anything and everything they could still so they could survive. He knew that if he didn't watch over her. The next time she might pay with her life. He knew she would be back here or somewhere else, trying to push the drugs for whom ever she was working for.

He saw her looking at him lighting his cigarette and she made her sale pitch. A faint smiled appeared on his lips but only for a moment. She was ready to sell him anything from cigarettes laced with some drug, or any other type of fix she could sell him.

"You know. You're still not to safe all alone with those two still around. I don't mind walking you somewhere that's safe. He already knew she would say no again. She didn't want him to know where she was going. She might still try to sell what ever she had in that bag.

He watched her adjust her hat and her pony tail, and that could only meant she was getting ready to run. He hoped she would, so he could fallow her to who ever was behind the drugs she was paddling. He could than take care of whom ever she was working, than take her away where she would safe.

He dropped his cigarette on the ground and stump it with his foot casually. But his eyes never left her not that he need to. He could fallow her now no matter what she did.

"Well ok but be careful keep your eyes open." He said without looking at her, as he was still stumping on the cigarette but.

Marliegh was jittery. The way he looked at her made her jumpy. She couldn't tell what the was thinking, but at that moment she just didn't care. She had to get back to the warehouse before she would have to call Jake back. It would take her around 30 minutes to get across town, that's if she ran.

"Look," she said as she looked back and forth. "I see you're not interested, but right now I've got to go. Thanks again."

She watched him for a moment and hesitated before she took off running out of the subway. Months of working for Jake had built her running stamina, and she jumped up the steps 3 or 4 at a time. She had to catch the bus, otherwise it'd be another couple hours before she got back.

When she hit the street she looked around: she'd almost missed it. She jogged down the block and caught it just in time. She dumped some change and sat down in the back of the bus and took a deep breath. Everything was accounted for. Jake wouldn't take it out on her for the clients not having the money, so she breathed a sigh of relief. If she was lucky he'd give her a couple extra bucks so she could get a cup of coffee while she waited. The man who had so oddly helped her by the subway was the last thing on her mind.

Angelus Let her get a head start before he started after her. He fallowed her at a great distance that she couldn't him. She ran fasted then he ever she saw capable to catch the bus. It took his only a moment to catch up with the bus and hop on the roof just above where she sat. He laid on his back and looked towards the heavens, as the bus took them to where ever their destination was.

Angelus wondered again for the millionth time if he would ever make it back home. He was not told for how long he was to remain here. Looking all around as the bus drove through the streets. He knew that life here wouldn't never change. No one wanted to be saved, they wanted material things that only money could get it them.

He leaned over the side and looked at her as she was counting the money, and wondered if she even had anything to eat yet. Happy that all the money was safe, she stuff it back in the bag She leaned back and looked out into the city.

Angelus laid down on his back again realizing he hadn't learned what her name was.
