OOC for Freelancers: Tight Quarters

This is going to be a sci-fi thread, based on the ideas in RedHairedandFriendly's story that recently came out, Ice Racer. A great story, and I hope many more to follow it! Since she is planning that to be a series, we came up with something similar to run as a thread.

Three freelancers on a small ship (tight quarters) and are currently involved with each other. They take on various jobs to earn enough to keep their bellies full and their ship repaired. What we need are friends, allies, employers, targets (for bounty hunting jobs), etc. We'll work stuff out here in the OOC thread, and keep the IC thread for the story.

Ship: Libertine Bounty – a small transport that's been modified to suit their purposes; sacrificing the 2nd crew quarters for a prison cell, and extra cargo room. Upgraded weapons, and faster engines.

Crew:
Desum “Hawk” - tseranc
Jaynnah Fawn – RedHairedandfriendly
T&A TBA – save_marla

Join with, or sit against us: we need folks to help write out our various adventures! There will be MFM play and FF play between the three crew members and possibly/probably between the folks they are hired by, or the folks they are trying to capture.

Sounds fun. I gotta get the my crew in here, and we'll all post a bio so that everyone knows who the characters are. Draw up a character and maybe a plan/plot for yoru interaction with them.

I sooo can't wait to get this going.
 
Here's an idea for a possible character. If it doesn't agree with what you had in mind, just tell me and I'll gladly come up with something else.

Colonel Derak Ytum was one of the most committed followers of Dromei, the dictatorial regime that governed Luben IX. He commanded the 9th Hammer Squadron, one of the Dromei military's most feared enforcement branches and perpetrators of some of the regime's worse atrocities. The Hammers were assigned on frontier duty, waging an unofficial war against the border forces of the neighboring Pacan system, when a revolution on Luben IX overthrew Dromei and instituted a democratic government.

Even most of the military supported the revolution, as Dromei had become corrupt and ineffectual. Ytum was one of the few who opposed the change, especially when one of the government's first acts was to order his arrest on charges of crimes against sentience. On his command ship, Ytum's loyalists massacred those who opposed him, before fleeing into the unknown. Rumors have connected him with a new wave of piracy near the Inner Worlds. The government of Luben IX has put up a sizeable bounty for him to be delivered, alive, for judgment.

As for interactions with the main three, my ideas are:
-They take the Lubeen bounty on him (obvious)
-He might try to hire them to join his nascent pirate crew
-He might capture one of them
-Any of the above
 
looks pretty good to me, i'll leave red and save_ weigh in here. You'd play the colonel?

Yeah, and any of his associates as needed (others would be welcome to play them, of course).
 
I hope this hasn't been forgotten? I was really looking forward to it.
 
Oh no, not forgotten, Save_ is going to be moving, and Red has been busy over the holiday weekend, and I have been rebuilding my home network. So it will take place, just might be a slow start.

But this thread will not die, I won't let it.
 
Ah, good. (Not to the issues, that it hasn't been forgotten). Didn't mean to sound impatient.

Yeah. . ******* issues were a factor too.

save, however has said during her moving process we can move her if needed. I've done stuff like that before, but always with permission, or if a person disappears for a long period of time. Then they are slipped away and not interacted with again, till their writer comes back.

THIS WILL HAPPEN WITH THIS THREAD TOO!
 
Bio

Desum “Hawk” - Tall, even for a human, making his otherwise medium build look deceptively thin. Naturally brown hair usually looking like he came directly from bed, or worn in spikes when on the job to look more intimidating. His ice blue eyes look amused at everything.

Rugged cargo pants with plenty of pockets, a form fitting shirt, and a utility jacket. His blaster never far from his hip. He kept true to his fictional hero from 20th century fiction, Han Solo.

Acquired the Libertine Bounty by stealing it from a poorly secured space port, while fleeing a gambler he had lost to....big. Now he flies with his two companions that he had met through his travels, taking any jobs that he felt he could accomplish, and live to talk about.

Jaynnah Fawn met Desum “Hawk” and joined the Libertine Bounty after she tried to pick Hawk’s pocket. A girl from the streets, she’s used her body and her wits to survive. Desum gave her a choice, help him locate a bounty that was in her village, or deal with the local law enforcement. After the job Hawk paid Jaynnah and she decided to stow away on his ship, later becoming a partner with him in all ways, besides helping out with the bounty. She’s a self-educated Science geek and Medical Doctor. Hawk couldn’t have afforded a licensed one, even if he wanted to.

LOL, nice twist. maybe rivals with a history of butting heads? got a whole your crew vs my crew pissing contest thing going on?

Would certainly make for a good recurring character, not to mention it adds the possibility of adding in a few more people into my crew...

Red Danson

Dashing, rugged, devilishly charming. A Captain at only 28 years old, commanding the Regeant, a well tested battle ship for the Unified Alliance. (or whatever government there is at the moment)

A paladin of the old ways, his mindset is that of some ancient knight, dashing at windmills to save his lady fair. He believes in honor and has a moral code for everything. He would never think of putting any maiden in a compromising position.

A crew (perhaps) of two, his new assignment has been to eliminate unwanted pirates, larsonists, freelancers and ne'er do wells. Even graffiti artists if he comes across them.

A hard lean body, strong, perfect teeth, impeccable smile (brushes every day and goes to the dentist twice a year) always wears a flawless tight form fitting uniform and has yet to touch a drop of alcohol, except for an occasional glass of wine for very special occasions.

Known to get the job done and has yet to fail on a mission. His record is as flawless as his olive tanned skin. He also has a bit of a reputation, well known throughout the galaxy (universe, solar system... whatever)

Sort of a respected rivalry thing? Maybe a (sometimes) ex-lover of one or more of the crew? Heck, same could be true of my crew...that could be why they signed on with him :D

LOL ok first time I read that Pooh, I thought you wrote Ted Danson...and it was all a joke.

But then I saw Red...so it's not as funny anymore.

Lets see, Save_marla should be on tonight-ish to post her bio. As far as ex-lovers go, I'm guessing this is a pretty small galaxy - should make for some interesting encounters and drama.

Pooh - sounds like you're shooting for the whole antagonist, super Fed type thing. I guess that could work, so long as you dont mine one (or more) freelancers becoming a thorn in his side. That would work better then 'just another' ship/crew thrown in the mix with an agenda. A big picture kinda self rightous bad guy sounds much more fun lol
 
Oh, and what the hell guys? Am I the only one that can bringing the chica's? Lets get some more ladies up in here. And don't friggin' tell me its because girls don't dig Sci-fi...there are geek women out there...its not just a myth like the G spot... 8^)


On a related, and more serious note(ish) note. I'd like to do any recruiting for this thread by word of mouth from those in it. I'm a picky bastard, and I like talented writers that would enjoy the thread, not just posting in the "threads that need players' thread and living with whatever the cat drags in.
 
Well, I'm perfectly capable of writing female characters and have done them in RP before...My rival captain could always be a "she" if we can't find more authors :D
