When humans took to the stars, they found more life than they could have thought possible. Many different variations on a humanoid form, and many nonhumanoids as well. Among those found were the Furries, anthropomorphic animal sentients. In fact, the amount of sentient life was staggering. Kiro Arnauto was an explorer by choice, and a pilot by vocation. His ship, the Starlight's Dream, was a sleek, fast ship used to transport cargo and people. He was on his way to an out of the way planet to pick up a new copilot. His last one had gotten shot by some thugs for being a former soldier. He didn't know what to expect, but he had been told the copilot was an excellent gunner, and that was a good thing in a universe of space pirates and Imperial soldiers. He dropped out of orbit around the planet, working his way down to the only spaceport on the surface with an expert hand. When he opened the hatch, he found himself face to face with a provocatively dressed bunny-girl with blue hair, carrying a lot of firepower. He raised an eyebrow, then looked at his watch. "I take it you're the copilot?"

SHe was still annoyed with herself for signing on with a pilot sight unseen. She knew she needed to get off this planet but she had hoped the pilot would be part furry.

She scowled at the human. "Yeah, I am one of the the best copilots and gunners you will ever find. You were lucky to sign me on."

She looked over the ship on the outside. She gave a faint nod of apprval.

She looked back at the human, "I'm Bellinda. Were is the next stop?"

She spoke as she walked into the ship with her back pack.
 
Kiro raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. He himself hadn't expected a Furry, let alone such an attractive one. He thought for a moment, mentally reviewing his flight plan. "Our next stop is Sirrus Arato. We have to pick up a shipment of rations for the military. Don't ask me why. They should be using one of their own ships for it. I'm Kiro, by the way. The best pilot this side of the Rim." He followed her inside, using his wireless net connection to order a refueling and restocking. That would take about an hour, so he figured he'd show her around the ship. He smiled. "This used to be a cruise ship. The weaponry is mostly aftermarket. I've also upgraded the engines and shields. Up for the grand tour?"
 
Belinda nodded, " a tour would be fine. From the out side it looked like the gun turrents were placed well. So did you do that or did you have help?"

HE may be a respectable pilot but time would tell. She walked and listened to him
 
Kiro nodded, leading her around the ship. "I did it myself. It wasn't that hard, really. Though most of the parts are black market. You won't tell anyone, will you?" Not waiting for an answer, he pointed out the old passenger cabins. "I've converted the rear cabin for the passengers, and the front cabin for the crew. The engines are high-end Lucian302s. The shield generators are Damians, which provide both protection from micrometeorites and energy weapons. The guns themselves are Mil-issue Z509Ds. The ship has full artificial gravity systems, along with inertial dampers and radiation shielding. Controls are standard Sepia12 boards, intended for a battleship. Think you can handle them?" He lead her onto the bridge.
 
She smiled the ships was better equiped then most. "handleing this will be a pleasue. Both as copilot and as gunner. This is very much the type of ship a good office looks for. Thecontroles are very much what I would make my self. I commend you on a job well done."

She voice was cool and impersonal. She was atracted not to the man but to the ship
 
Kiro smiled. He always enjoyed showing off his ship. It was very rare that girls approved of the ship, however. Then again, this woman was going to be his copilot, so he'd expect her to have an appreciation for it. He smiled again, then looked at his watch. "Well, the supplies should be here in about fifteen minutes. Once we're airborne, I think I'll go take a shower. You should get yourself settled in while we wait. The crew cabin has four rooms, not counting the bathroom." He started to turn his attention to the control readouts.
 
Seh nodded and went to they crew room and got settled it did not take long she always traveled light.

This ship was in good repair and clean. She was going to like being on it. even if she did wish the captain was a furry.

She took a quick look at her self in the mirror. There were signs of excitment. But she had already known that would be there. She left some of her weapons with her things but kept a couple on her person.
 
Shortly after she left, the supplies arrived. Kiro went down to the cargo hatch and directed the delivery guys in putting the supplies onboard. It didn't take very long to do, and once they had left with their payment, he stretched, then hit the controls to close the hatch. He headed back up to the bridge, and waited for her in the doorway. Once she got back to the bridge, he walked over to the pilot's seat, sat down, and his fingers danced over the controls. The ship lifted off smoothly and rapidly, and he turned to look over his shoulder.
 
She was watching him closely, He handled his ship with calm and confindense.

She sat in the copilot seat and knew with a few manuvers she would be close to as good. She had a way with ships, that was how she had been able to gain her own rep as a copilot and a guner.

When he looked at her, she smiled, "you are a respectable pilot, I can plot the jump into hyper space and to Sirrus Arato unless you wish to."

She waited for his decision. For a while it would be like that. Getting to know what part he wanted her to cover.
 
Kiro smiled at her compliment, then thought for a moment. Plotting the jump wouldn't take very long. The navigation systems were state of the art. He shrugged. "If you want. Just be sure to let me know if you have any problems." He stood up, then started for the door to the bridge. "I think I'll grab that shower now." He put one hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze, then left the bridge and headed into the cabin. He was already stripping out of his clothes as he crossed the cabin heading for the bathroom.
 
It did not take her long to plot the required course and begin the hyperspace jump. teh computer systen was state of the art. She sat there waiting. As the ship turned and set up for the jump.

Less then two seconds before the jump the was part of a hailing call but the jump was too far under way.

She was able to determine it was from a local digantary. But noting else.

She walked over to his cabin and went in. She waited for hm to be reappear from the shower.
 
Kiro had cleaned himself up, the soap easily removing the grease from his work on the engines. Once his hair was cleaned up and conditioned, he stepped out of the shower, and stretched. He grabbed a towel, and started drying himself off, stepping out of the bathroom and walking towards his section of it, which consisted of a bunk, a dresser, and a desk. He didn't even notice her in the room as he crossed it.
 
She spoke calmly, "sir, it appears we missed a last mement hail for a local dignatary. From the location and the words that atcually made it. It was really nothing more then a socail call. Just so you are informed."

She stopped looked him over form his wet feet to his wet shiney hair, Her mind thinks. for a human he reall is good looking.
 
Kiro stopped, and looked over his shoulder. He shrugged, then smiled. "Probably Alyssa. She had hoped to give her daughter a tour of the ship. Maybe on the return trip." He stretched, then tossed his towel into a hamper. Then he grabbed some boxers, and pulled them on. He turned to look at her after adjusting them, and sat in a chair. "Okay, so, what to do now...you play any video games? Or do you have anything else in mind?"
 
Bellinda smiled at that, "yeah, she has long been trying to talk some pilot, ship owner into takeing her child off of her hands. You should be glad we made the jump to light speed and you did not have to see her."

Then she nodded. "Video games are as good a way as anything to pass the time till we arrive. I feel I must warn you I am not very good at them,"

She had to admit this captain was a bit odd but that was ok. There was nothing better to do then play video games and get to know him.
 
Kiro laughed. "It's not like that. Our families know each other. Her daughter's about my age, but has never done a day's work in her life. Alyssa's afraid she's going to have to marry her off to some guy with a lot of money." He shrugged, then looked at her. "If you want, we could do Q&A."
 
She nodded. What was accepted byoutsiders was not always the way of things when you are in the know.

She smiled a bit , "Q&A would be fine. We really did not exchange and great amount of info. Feel free to ask what you will of me. I know trust is earned and built not handed out on a plater."
 
Kiro leaned back in the chair, and thought for a few minutes. Finally, he spoke. "How do you feel about being stuck on a ship for months at a time with only a human male?"
 
Bellina chuckled, "I have been stuck on ships for months at a time with worse. With creatures who had no respect and little skill, even with piloting their own ships. With horny furries who always seamed to be in need," her eyes going down to his boxers calmly.

"There are very few arrangements have not delt with. That is why I took you sight unseen."

"I can find things to keep me occupied. Dont worry about me."
 
Kiro laughed, then thought carefully. After a few moments, he spoke again. "Why DID you agree to be my copilot?" He looked at her, his head tilted. She was interesting, that much was certain. Of course, he'd have to get her to start asking him some questions.
 
She nodded, "honestly I was getting stir crazy, I have not been off planet in nearly a month. My sister said I was being to picky and if I didnt get back to work id lose my edge."

Then she cocked her head to one side, "considering this ship. Why did you hire me site unseen? "

PArt of her wondered if maybe he had heard of her being a female furry and had hopes of her going into heat.
 
Kiro shrugged at that. "Well, to be honest, you came with high recommendations. I was surprised you were a Furry though. My contact hadn't provided me with that information. Oh well, as long as you can do the job, I suppose I shouldn't complain. Do you have any other questions for me?"
