Nick Thompson was cleaning up his house, after having kicked out a roommate for drug use. He had put an ad in the paper for a new roommate the previous day, and was cleaning to make the house presentable. He hoped it wouldn't take very long, but it still took him most of the morning just to clean the room that had been used. Sighing, he collapsed onto the couch in the living room, closing his eyes. "It's going to be a long day." Just then, the doorbell rang. Nick sighed again, then slowly got to his feet, walked to the door, and opened it. Standing before him was a humanoid dog, a border collie from the looks, very definitely female. He blinked for a few moments, then realized she was talking to him. As he listened to her question, spoken in a Southern drawl, he nodded dumbly. "Yeah, there's a room for rent here."

Nick blinked, listening to what she said. It was hard to make some of it out, but he managed. Then she started fidgetting, and asked to see the room. He nodded, and stepped away from the door, heading into the apartment. "The last roommate had a drug problem. That's why there's a room for rent. I kicked him out when I caught him shooting up in the bathroom. Oh, and try not to touch my collection of swords. Many of them are authentic, which means they are a little old." He pointed to the assortment hanging from stands or mounted on racks on the walls. When they reached the actual room, he opened the door. The room had a bed, and a dresser, but nothing else. "Do you need any furniture or anything?"

Dawn followed him into the apartment. She finally recognized the scent of men, and food. What was that beef lo mein? Her stomach growled, it had been a few days of eating little or nothing. Pressing her lips together, she tried to stay the saliva as her body reacted to the smell of the food. Instead she concentrated on what she saw, and what she saw were many beautiful swords. They seemed to be everywhere, lining the walls or displayed on stands. They were mesmerizing in thier artistry and dangerous purpose. She had just reached one gloved hand toward a particuarally beautiful katana, when her would be landlord and apparently roomate, stated she should not touch them. Quickly she looked toward him, his back was to her as he was walking toward the rental room, he hadn't seen her, (whew!), so she quickly put her hand to her side and tried for all she was worth to seem disinterested in the weapons and followed him quietly to the room, her hands clasped together to keep her from temptation.

The room was sparsly furnished, but she wasn't overly disappointed. "Why, it's a nice little room," she walked in looking it over, her white tall legged cowboy boots heels clicking on the floor. Turning around once she took the whole room in, then smiled at the man Nick, "It's absolutley charmin'." She smiled showing no teeth, her tail wagging slowly and looked intently into the mans eyes, "If'n the price is right, I suppose..., you and I..., we'll be roomates? And what would the living arrangements be?" she turned her head to the right in question and sat on the bed slowly, careful not to sit on her tail, and adjusting the peace knotted holsters at her hips, "do we split th' groceries? chores or what? I'ma light sleeper and I get up early before sun-up. I have worked as a ranch hand so long, it is just habit." She reaches up and removes her hat, placing it in her lap as she continues to talk, "As for furniture... well, this is plenty, 'specially since I ain't got none of my own" she smiled her close lipped smile. "So's whatcha askin' for the room and board?", her ears up and forward in a question, she leaned forward expectantly, "and what is youa policy on guns?" she asked patting her weapons.

Nick thought for a moment, considering her questions. He leaned back against the dresser. His previous roommate had paid him one hundred dollars a month plus sharing in the utilities. However, the druggie hadn't thought about food, and Nick had had to buy most of it. Still, he had to be nice, he couldn't shaft someone just because of a former roommate. "Hmm. Well, rent should only be about one hundred. Utilities would be about fifty more. As for groceries, that depends on how much you can eat. I do like to keep the place stocked, but the last guy stuck me with the grocery bills." He sighed, stretching slightly. Then he allowed himself to study her form. Then he realized he'd missed a question. "Guns? Well, I have a few, mostly replicas or superrealistic paintball guns. I also have my grandfather's old collection in the third bedroom. It's still in boxes and crates though."

"How's about seventy-five and I split the groceries and cook th' evenin' meal 3 nights a week... your choice? I'll also help with chores around the place? What do ya say?"

Dawn, hoped it would be a good enough deal, work was slow right now and she was gonna have to find another job if it didn't pick up. She knew she could get some food in trade from the ranch she work at out of town. They had stared paying in trade, which was good and bad. It would feed you stomach, but not pay your bills. She was making about fifty dollars a week and that was living there, but now she was having to leave, and the pay wasn't changing. Maybe this Nick would wheel and deal with her a little. She hoped so, this was the last place on her list. She'd run out of options, if she had to she'd pay the money, but then she'd need another job for sure. And this area was all out of ranches...

She saw Nick looking at her body, he had that weird far away look that men got sometimes when they looked at her. He wasn't unattractive himself, and he did smell good, a mix of man, sweat and soap. She looked at him sidelong and smiled, showing just a little tooth. " I cook well... I promise..."

Nick blinked, then smiled. He shrugged. "I suppose that'll do. I have to warn you, I'm a very picky eater. I've thrown out some of my own cooking because it didn't quite match the recipe. Anyways, if you can't find me, I'm in the den, working on my own job. I work on a computer." He smiled, then stretched again. "Do you need help moving your stuff in?"

"I can have the room?" She jumped up of the bed excitedly, her tail wagging wildly. Not thinking she reached out as if to hug Nick. .. and stopped herself just short of putting her arms around him in her excitement. "Oh! Uh!" she stepped back wringing her hands and grinning, "Um... I mean, thank you!" she gestured to him like she was going to touch him again, "I-I don't think I will need any help with my things..." she walked past him through the doorway brushing her chest against his shoulder unknowingly. Still talking she crosses the apartment to the door, and opening it bends at the waist to get something right outside, her tail up, for a quick moment, her genitals are bared. Pink and mostly hairless and completely uncovered. "I can cook almost anythin'..." her voice is muffled as her head is outside the door, but her words can still be made out, "as long as it isn't too complicated." Standing up and turning away from the hallway, she walks back into the room. Her eyes are bright, "If you give me a list of th' stuff ya don't wanna eat, then I won't make those things. I know you like beef, do ya have any way ya like it cooked up? or don't for that matter?" she crosses the apartment carrying with both hands in front of her-which excentuates her bosom-a medium sized duffel bag packed full almost to bursting. She shuffels with its weight. Standing outside the room she drops the duffel and reaches into the pocket in one side. She pulls out a roll of money. It seems like a lot until, upon closer inspection, it is mostly small bills.
She counts out seventy-five dollars in ones, fives and tens. "Here's ya first month's rent. Um, and and extra ten for food tonight. I will bring home some groceries tomorrow if ya will give me a list of things ya'd like me ta pick up."
Picking up the duffel, she waits for Nick to move out of the doorway. "If ya give me about a half hour to settle in, I will make do with whatever's in the pantry. How's that sound?"

Nick shivered slightly as she brushed past him. He stepped out of the door after her, just in time to see her bending over. He stared for a few moments, then looked away just as she turned around. He'd have to tell her about underwear and other clothes, he thought. Then he wondered what she'd look like in a miniskirt and tubetop. He shook the thought away, then looked at her, and smiled. He took the money she offered him, and stuffed it in his pocket. Then he nodded slightly, trying hard not to stare at her breasts. "I'm allergic to mushrooms, so I can't have them. I like my meat well done, and I love broccoli and cauliflower in cheddar sauce. Um, aside from that right now, I have nothing you need to know about. Also, you...might want to consider wearing shorts or something."

"I'm sorry, what?"
she heard him about his food choices, but had he just suggested she wear clothing? She'd never worn more than she was right now, and no one had ever said a thing about it. Why did he say that?

Nick raised an eyebrow, then shook his head. "Either that, or you might want to avoid bending over."

She looked behind herself inspecting her bottom, "Why? did I get something on myself?" Not seeing anything, she looked back at Nick a bit confused. "I am covered in fur, s' to human eyes I am clothed. I-I don't own no clothing, I ha' neva been told to wear clothin' before. Um.... what I wear now is for protective reasons only, ya know, t' work on the ranch. Out there" she gestures to somewhere distant, "I don't need them, it's mighty hot in the summer and in winter I got my undercoat, so's I'm warm as toast. Is the city so much dif'ernt?"

Nick raised an eyebrow, then shrugged, and shook his head. "Never mind. Anyways, I'll be watching tv. It's not quite time for food, so I'll turn my attention to entertainment. Let me know if you need anything. He started to walk past her.

She watched as he walked by. That wasn't any answer, she thinks to herself. Somehow I think I have offended him, but I'm not sure how.... was it the clothing thing? Maybe I should wear somethin', I can't have him feelin' uncomfortable 'round me, I don't want him to have any reason to want me out. It is his place after all.

"O-okay then, I'll just settle in."
then she remembered, "Um, Mr. Nick? Um... is there a key I need t' get from you? I gotta leave early in the mornin' and won't be back till late evenin'. I don't wanna be no problem to ya" she looks up at his face then away to the right, rubbing her right hand up and down her left arm in a nervous gesture.
"'Course, if'n ya's gonna be here, I guess it don't matter none." she looks up at him questioning.
