Oh DearS (OOC and Casting Call)

What's DearS
For anyone who doesn't know, and I'm sure that's pretty much everyone, DearS is a Graphic Novel series in which a group of aliens comes to earth and because of their incredible beauty are quickly accepted into the culture with an almost pop star status. They are incredibly intelligent and able to learn new things very quickly, and also have the ability to manipulate gravity to a small extent, allowing them to float, and even fly short distances, as well as a few other minor abilities, such as the ability to transfer their life force to someone else, in effect healing that person. Beyond their beauty they can also be distinguished by a pattern made up of three triangles on their forehead. They are a race of slaves, who become linked to a master and gain an empathic bond with that person (where they are able to tell what that person is feeling and what they want), but because their culture is not as accepted in the Earth society they do their best to hide the fact that they are slaves while they are slowly integrated into the population through "host families" who take them in. They thrive on positive emotion, and cannot live if they are hated. The concept of shared love between a master and DearS slave is known as the "gift" and is often realized through some divine sign. Of course, none of this is known by the human race.
There are somewhere around 150 DearS who have been integrated into human society through this "host family" system, but are an unknown amount of DearS who lie asleep on their spaceship known as "zero numbers". To the human race, little is known about these zero numbers and most questions about them will be met with the same answer that they are "defective".
At the end of the series a new watcher (leader of the DearS), Io, is born. She evolves to the stage of watcher after a horrible media story about DearS having the power to kill human beings. This creates a rash of anti-DearS protests, and the media is quick to jump onto the anti-DearS bandwagon, because after all, there is little that the human race loves more than to see their heroes fall. After a confession of love from the main character to his DearS partner who had taken all of the blame for the deadly power thing, and had been prepared to exile herself to outer space, the old man, who it had seemed had taken a turn for the worst, is healed by another DearS, ending the anti-DearS sentiment. This restores the previous watcher (Fina) and extends her life span, and soon after Io decides that she is not necessary and leaves the planet using the space ship, and takes an unknown number of the DearS with her, leaving the rest under the watchful eyes of Fina, and the human race. Other that a very small group of people, none of the human race knows anything more about the secrets of the DearS than they did at the start. Life continues.

Where Does That Put Us?
This RP is going to start where the Graphic Novel ended off. The DearS spaceship that hovered in the middle of the bay is gone, but other than that, life has returned pretty much to normal. The DearS don't receive quite as much media attention as they used to, but then again, there had been all of those horrible stories about the DearS being able to kill people recently, so what the media said didn't really hold that much weight anymore anyway. None of humanity knows that the DearS are a slave race, or that the only thing keeping them alive is the outpouring of love from the people that they live with. The DearS that are left on Earth continue searching for their destined masters with whom they will share the gift. Where things go from there...no one knows.

DearS Social Structure
Watcher: (Female Role)
The Leader of the DearS. She works with the human government on the homestead project to place DearS with appropriate host families.
There is only one. (I won't have anyone playing this part, since it is easier to just deal with her as an NPC)

Barker: (Female and Male Role)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/blueblue/DearS/anime_chara_10.gif
A trainer of sorts. They train the DearS so that they will fit in with the human society, and so that they will make more effective slaves, and be more lovable to keep the outpouring of love for the DearS going on. They are rarely seen in public since all of their business happens behind the scenes.
There are very few of these. (I don't think I'll need any of these...yet...)

Biter: (Male role mostly, but to some extent Female as well)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/blueblue/DearS/anime_chara_09.gif
The muscle of the DearS colony. They are seen in public rarely since they only deal with situations in the DearS colonies, making sure that untrained DearS don't go out and ruin the image of the DearS and keep the lower levels in line. They are equal to the Barker in the social status, but are subservient to them because the Barkers are good yelling orders and most Biters specialize in combat. Also, with the DearS being completely integrated into human society, and the spaceship gone, the need for them is dwindling along with their numbers, as they are integrated into society as well.
(If you want to be some sort of fighting tank, I guess this would be for you, but I doubt anyone really wants to play the role of lackey of the barkers...I'll need these roles when I need barkers. I'll keep you informed.)

Sheep Slaves: (Female and Male Role)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/blueblue/DearS/anime_chara_06.gif
The bulk of the DearS population. These are those DearS that have been sent off to become a member of the human society and are most likely to be seeking the gift with a master. They are the ones that the people of Earth see. Sheep slaves are those who have received training by the Barkers on how to best be a slave and are then integrated into society. They already have knowledge on what is edible and what is not, and have already been taught the language and customs of people.
(I need these roles.)

Zero Numbers: (Female and Male Role)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/blueblue/DearS/anime_chara_02.gif
A large number of these DearS were left behind, and now that the space ship is gone and they have been awakened, it is far too many for the DearS society to keep proper tabs on. Every once in a while a Zero number will sneak out. They have varying knowledge of language, customs and other such things. They also know about and actively seek the gift with a master, but their connection with a master makes some of the members of the DearS society a little uneasy.
(I'll need at least one of these before we start, just to make things interesting.)

Human roles are exactly what you would expect them to be. Everyday people.

Characters So Far

Your Character Design should look something like this:

Base

Name: (DearS don't have a last name)
Age:
Gender:
Race:
Social Status (if DearS)/Occupation (if Human):
Appearance: (If you wish you can submit an image location here)
- Eyes: (color here)
- Hair: (Suggestion of length, style, and color here)
- Skin: (Pale, average, tanned, black)
- Build: (bust size, hip size, muscle tone)
- Standard Clothing: (The clothing that they wear for every day activities. DearS that are not zero numbers usually wear human clothing in human society so that they don't look so odd)
DearS/Human Partner: (I'll fill this in when you get one don't worry)
Brief History: (Zero Numbers won't have a brief history since they are basically a blank slate)

And that should be all we need. I'll be making mine soon.
Unemployed is an acceptable occupation, as well as student.
Don't worry about not having a DearS/Human partner. I'll be updating that as you get one and as things change in the game, I'll be updating it.

DearS always wear the DearS Collar, which is a red collar with a triangular metal ring at the front.
The DearS collar is a piece of alien technology that stores a DearS body suit (the images above are a few examples of that) Female DearS body suits are usually quite form fitting, but have varying degrees of decency. Male DearS body suits are pretty standard, but color and design change.
Zero Numbers only have the DearS body suit (which is stored in the collar when it isn't being worn) Most DearS who are not Zero Numbers have human clothing as well as their DearS body suits.
Unless you are a Zero Number you really don't have to describe your DearS body suit in your profile, since I'm sure you'll describe it if you ever use it.

Character profiles missing a "played by" role are premade characters since I hear making a character with my system is difficult. Because it is easier for me to make sure that things don't get crazy with people running into people that they shouldn't know I'll make a lot of them have connections.

Rules and Requests

Rules: I am not a cruel taskmaster, but without rules this game would fall into chaos and no one would want to play anymore.

1) This is a large story, as such I want to see large posts.
I know, I know, I am one of the bigger offenders of making a million little posts when the person I am RPing with is online with me, but I would like to avoid having this happen. I put more value on one or two really large posts every day, than I will put into a million really small posts that cause everyone else to be confused about what is going on and loose track on what is happening to their character. So this means, describe your surroundings, and describe what you are doing with vivid detail. Having trouble with that? Go out into the SRP forum and find pretty much any SRP that is closed for two people (Claiming Claire is a really good example) You can make your posts longer by having your character do a lot of thinking, by going into deep detail, and even by running around with an NPC that I get the first look at. It is far harder to run away with a thread when you have to make large posts.

2) Don't immediately jump into bed with someone.
This is an immersive story, not a one night stand. You are not going to get points for running in here, sexing it up and then leaving to tell your buddies about how awesome you are. Also in a real world scenario there is almost zero chance that someone is going to sex it up with a person that they don't really know right away, and I don't expect any of the players of this little game are going to be clever enough to throw in huge histories behind their characters...and now that I think about it, I might want you to put in a history in your character submission, just to slow that sort of thing down even more.

3) No Chat Speak.
If you aren't going to take the time to type out your words, you obviously aren't that interested in playing the game. Why would you ever need to rush through a post here to the point where you can't bother to type 'you' instead of 'u'?

4) There will be no killing of other characters unless it is cleared with that character.
No one likes to go off to work and then come home to find out that they are dead. This is going to become more important as things get into later chapters with more biters, but right now shouldn't be that much of a problem. If you are concerned because someone has vanished, don't worry, I'll speed up my chapters a little bit, and we'll move into a new chapter where I seek out new players to fill roles that have been abandoned, as well as making a few roles made by myself to keep the plot going.

5) Out Of Character chatter should be placed in this thread.
Feel free to spam this place up and just yammer on and on about absolutely nothing. If you are going to do that, my only request is that someone tell me when a new recruit shows up so they don't get lost in the shuffle. Please do that. I don't want anyone to think that I'm ignoring them. If you have any OOC questions, I am going to try to frequent this tread as much as possible and answer any of those questions.

Requests: You don't have to listen to these, I'd just like it very much if you did.

1) At least try to play from a third person perspective.
Saying "I" and "You" when you are taking actions can confuse people, especially if there are a lot of them? Who is "I" who is "you" does that apply to me? Those questions are going to come up a lot with anyone who hasn't been playing with you long enough to figure out who your character is, and since I expect that we will have new people dropping in at some point in time (I'll probably break the game into chapters, since I know how the second chapter would start) I'm going to need everyone to understand what is going on and what applies to them. Third person really is the best way to do that, since it leaves you with little options other than using "He/she" and the character's name, over and over and over again.

That's all I have for now, but check back, I might have more later.

Eugh...alright, I'm going to come up with some pre-mades in a little while, since I'm not getting anyone yet.

Aw....c'mon guys...so you are all telling me that no one wants to join this thing? No way...

honestly blue mage is is a very good story line.

I would not mind playing an alein. I will try to keep spelling close. It is most likely my biggest weakness for writing.

Third person is a solid way to write.

I must have miss read I though appearance and clothes were pretty much the same for all slaves.

Hair colour, eye colour, build, and skin tone were what I stuck with for the appearance part, because they are the parts that change.

Their hair color is usually a pastel colour, like baby blue, or a light teal, or pink, or something like that. Hair Style and Length also change.
Eye colours are pretty standard.
Skin tone is often pretty pale, but there are a few tanned DearS out there.
The build for the Dears runs the gamete, but they are all in shape. It was more for bust size, and hips and stuff for females, and to show the difference between those muscle covered guys, and the really weak looking guys.

As for standard clothing, Sheep Slaves who are part of society often try to blend in and be less shocking by wearing human clothing. The DearS clothing also changes colour and design. Some female DearS outfits show off a lot of skin, some don't show off much at all.

I'm probably going to be constantly editing the profile thing until it is really clear.

I still need quite a few more people before we start.

If anyone wants to convince other people that they should join that would be awesome. We are definitely going to need someone playing a zero number, because that is were the interesting stuff would come in.

Would it help if I made more roles instead of leaving it for people to make their own roles? I ask because no one is running in here and signing up for a position anymore.

heh heh...i'm still considering it, even though i've never seen the anime

Yeah, my goal with being as descriptive with the story as I was, was to make it so you didn't need to have seen the anime or read the graphic novel in order to understand what is going on and be able to participate.

Both the Manga and anime follow the plot of a zero number running into a guy who doesn't think that much of the DearS and their crazy adventures as he tries to teach her all of the things that she needs to learn. They both have quite a lot of shameless fan service and comedic relief.

If you'd like to get a feel of the anime, there are full episodes hosted on the media giant Youtube, and at last check you didn't need an account there to view them.

heh...youtube is kind of lame...they have a time limit on their videos...googlevideo is better

Yeah, that's good.

In other news, we still need someone to play a zero number. We'll also need at least one more female unit who could be the zero number.

Google Video also has full episodes that use a bit larger view screen dimensions and are probably a bit better quality as well.

I hadn't thought about the fact that google had a video search until you mentioned it.

I have played more then one char. in other threads if you want make up one you need and i'll rp it as long as we can keep the two form intereacting
