This is an RP about the new freshman arriving at Avalon University of Advanced Magic. This huge school is located on a seperate plane of existence that coexists with our plane, but is undetectable from it unless you cross over. It sits upon an island floating high in the sky, and all the magical creatures of the world can come here when they reach adulthood to fully realize their magical potential without fear of humans seeing. Dragons, faeries, pixies, elves, dwarves, gnomes, hobbits, etc. All the beings that are forced to masquerade as humans or remain hidden from them. There is a place they can go to be themselves, but they must reach adulthood first. They learn of their heritage and ways of life from parents and family friends, and then after reaching adulthood, they can go off to Avalon. Usually, students complete four years of schooling. After graduation, most careers require an internship ranging from six months to four more years, depending on the job.

For the sake of this game, we'll say all races reach adulthood at eighteen, but can live up to three or four times longer than humans.

I have to go now, but I will reply to this with more info and a list of classes and careers and what not. I will be back on in three to four hours, so if you're interested, reply right away and say so, please. Then once I post more info later tonight, we can make characters.

I usually stick to 1-on-1 RPs but the geek in me is intrigued. I'd be interested in this thread.

The floating island of Avalon is a large grass field with an enormous castle in the center. To the left of the castle is a lake, and to the right is a forest. Directly in front of the castle is a large parking lot where bewitched vehicles and other forms of transportation may park. Although students are allowed their own vehicles, they are not permitted to leave campus unless they have assumed human form. For those without their own forms of transportation, there are the Silverstar Shuttles, magical flying buses that pick up students at certain cities-- New York, London, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney, Moscow, Berlin, Toronto, Mexico City, and Athens. At the beginning of each school year, the buses fly over these cities to pick up students, though humans can't see them. To actually board the buses, you must crossover into the other plane, otherwise you'll just go through them like a ghost. Plane-shifting is merely a thought ability. Just focus, and you shift.

The buses stop by all these cities once more at the end of each school year, as well as for Yule Break. However, since Thanksgiving is a localized holiday for only a few countries, only those who request that off will get to go home, and for that they must find their own ride. Yule is a very old holiday, the same holiday Christmas was idealized from. The act of giving gifts in winter has been around for thousands and thousands of years, although most celebrate Christmas or Hanukah. Because so many countries have so many varied winter holidays, December 5th to January 5th is considered Yule Break.

When the buses arrive at the school, they land to the left of the parking lot, all lined up. There are twelve buses, and each one has the name of the city they go to on the side. When you walk up the main sidewalk, you come to a set of huge double doors, and beyond these lie the Entrance Hall and the stairways. To the right is the administration office, and to the left is two more double doors leading to the cafeteria and kitchen. Next to the stairs is a long hallway, lined with doors to various offices and storage rooms, as well as the library and clinic. At the end of this hallway is another set of double doors that lead to the back courtyard. Beyond this are the greenhouses and gym.

Floors two through five are the various classrooms, with labs on the sixth and seventh floors as well as the basement. So, to the south of the courtyard is the castle, and to the north of it are the greenhouses and gym. To the left are the Male Dorms, and to the right are the Female Dorms. Each is a long building three stories high, the halls lined with doors to rooms with two beds, two dressers, two nightstands, two closets, and two desks with chairs. For those with a desire to live away from the dorms and the funds to back it up, there is a small village in the forest. This is where the faculty of the school live, and there are houses or apartments for rent here, though they do not come cheap. The Village has a few shops and stores for the students to enjoy their weekends, as well as an Inn for when families come for special events.

All students have a set of basic courses they must take, as well as electives they may choose two or more of. Each of these are four year courses, though students may organize their classes in a way to take more than two electives. Usually, the normal student has the six basics and two electives, for a total of eight classes. These classes are an hour and a half long. Usually, they'll have four classes in a day, two before lunch and two after, twice a week. Like, on Mondays and Wednesdays you'll have the same classes from 8 to 9:30 and 10 to 11:30, 12:30 to 2 and 2:30 to 4. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays you'll have your other classes. Usually, Fridays are study days and the weekends are freetime, however, some attend additional electives on Fridays.

(Basics)

Pagan Literature (studying literary works of ancient pagan authors)
Mana Control (learning to control the mana flow in your body)
History of Magic (a history of the magical world)
Dark Magic Self-Defense (skills and spells to protect yourself from dark magic)
Herbology (magical herbs and plants)
Potions (liquid substances used for many purposes)

(Electives)

Ancient Runes (the study of ancient runes and relics)
Divination (the art of foreseeing the future and fortune telling)
Care of Mythical Animals (breed, raise, and care for mythical animals)
Archery (bow and arrows)
Sword Fighting (swordsmanship)
Transmutation (changing the physical properties of material objects)
Conjuration (creating something from nothing but the subatomic particles in the air)
Material Enchantment (enchanting normal material items to bestow them with magical properties)
And any other classes you may want that I did not list and that do not fall under one of these categories.

My character will be made tomorrow night. The school has a slightly different faculty title system than normal universities, however. Headmaster, Deputy Headmaster, Office Manager, Senior Healer, Assistant Healers, Chief of Security, Professors, Assistant Professors.

Will you post the link to the IC thread here? So that those interested in writing will be able to find it easier?

I will, but I am not creating the IC thread until we have at least six characters made. I typed mine up at work today when we were slow and printed it out, so as soon as I retype it up I'll post it.

Good cause I think everyone is waiting you to post a profile so we have some sort of template or guidline to follow, to see what you're expecting.

Name: Zorda Kandalt
Age: 18
Birthplace: Kholimari Village, Wyoming, USA (elf village hidden in the Rocky Mountains near Yellowstone).
Birthdate: August 1st

Bio: Zorda was the child of a human and an elf -- James McDillan, Executive Vice President of Microsoft, Inc. Minala Kandalt, elven herbalist disguised as a human. However, when Zorda was only a few weeks old, Minala revealed her true from to her husband. A week later he filed for divorce. Minala took Zorda and returned to her village, reassuming her maiden name, and raised the boy as an elf. Now that he has reached adulthood, he has enrolled at Avalon University and is awaiting the first day of school. He aspires to join the Zangaard Hunters after graduation -- they are a force of warriors who hunt down those that would harm others. The outfit in the pic is a future image of Zorda as a Hunter.

Also, keep in mind elves have no body hair at all except for on their scalp and eyebrows. Not even pubes, lol. Zorda is half elf, so he does have some hair and can grow facial hair.

This is the third and final time I bump this. If no one posts, this thread will be lost in the endless pages of posts gone dead.

I'm bumping this again because I think the reason everyone suddenly forgot about this game is because they are busy with the coming holidays.
