while i'll confess i've been intrigued by the feeldoe, i'm not sure i wouldn't prefer a traditional strap on. i did search HT and the blank manual and didn't seem to see what i was after.

what should a first-time buyer know? what features should i avoid/seek? what online stores (besides amazon) are generally reliable, etc.?

It's been a long while since I've purchased one, but things I would look for:

1) materials that won't chafe or rub--especially important for the straps themselves.

2) adjustable straps rather than just elastic straps that stretch because, eventually, with stretching, the elastic won't snap back into shape.

3) easy closures on the adujstable straps--some are velcro, some are clips like on a backpack

4) crotchless--it gives you versatility when being used by both males and females.

Stores to check out:

Xandria (some of their stuff is a tad pricey, but overall good quality)

I've no personal experience (published stories notwithstanding), but one point that comes to mind from various threads I've read here is that not all of the harnesses will fit all people. I'd be sure to check on the size range that the harness fits before purchase.

LOL @ the song.

I should note that D-rings on the adustable straps aren't bad, and are quite common for leather straps.

I prefer leather rather than other materials, but it takes getting used to so as not to chafe. :)

Up to 42-inch hips is a pretty standard maximum size, but you can find them for up to 60-inch hips. I haven't really thought about how small they can be adjusted in terms of hip size.
