OK ladies, (Lilred, Sarah, Selena), lets begin.

I adore cucumber sandwiches, they are refreshing and cooling on a hot summer afternoon, sitting in the shade of a spreading oak tree, on a neat lawn, with a fountain or waterfall tumbling in the background. The sound of birds, the drone of bees, the warmth of the sun.

Just add the company, and it would be a perfect English High tea.

I adore cucumbers (English, not American), for much more interesting activities.

:D

Anyone going to join me? In either?

Hm... what's the difference between an English and an American cucumber?

we may have to conduct experiments... :D

I would say absolutely not for the sandwich. I hate the smell of cucumbers. As far as other uses... I have a drawer full of toys that rarely get used, so I think the cucumber would likely turn to much before it had any of that kind of fun.

<---now prefers English Cucumbers... :D
They have them in the US...marketed as seedless cucumbers.

No cucumber sandwiches for Crim. I have some lovely honey-smoked ham, perhaps?

And as for toy usage - move them to the bathroom, take them out the next time you take a shower or bath. Something!! You must take time for yourself.

I only have a couple of waterproof ones. And, I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but I've yet to get to the point where it doesn't feel awkward using anything except the bullet by myself.

Nothing a little practice won't cure.

;)

Speaking of english cucumbers, have you read the Flashman where his current inamoratta compares him to a cucumber? I think it is one set in the States. Suggests a thesis topic: 'Is she referring to english or american cucumbers??' PHd here I cum!!!

LOLOLOL

It's not THAT big of a difference. Just two different pics. :D

Personally, I find the long, skinny English cucumbers kinda creepy.

Oooh.

I never knew that.

I'm always in favor of a slight curve.

:cathappy:

More filling from an English one.
Sandwiches.
I meant sandwiches.

*blush*

Was about to say it depended on which way you prefered to be filled. ;)

But my word, haven't we come on in leaps and bounds. :D

OK, its time for someone to bring in 'gardening' here. Some imagination, please.

English cucumbers are muuuuuch longer. ;) and invariably have a slight curve.
American cucumbers are thicker and have little nodules/spikes.
:D :D :D :D

The english cucumber also has smaller seeds, which is GREAT, you don't have to carve them out on your own - I like a good picnic, and while I am not fond of cucumber sandwiches, I do enjoy a good toasted Jewish sesame bagel slathered in butter, topped with cream cheese, slices of ENGLISH CUCUMBER, alfalfa sprouts and salt and pepper. I make a MEAN caeser salad - can I come along or is this a perverted thread about cucumbers and something along the lines of a scene in Fried Green Tomatos?

I just adore a good English Tea! Count me in. I'll bring a little fresh mint and lemon zest to add some zing to those refreshing cucumber sandwiches.

But! Most importantly, I'll bring the Double Devonshire Cream. What's a lovely afternoon tea without plenty of thick, smooth, buttery cream to spread all over....

...fresh, baked scones :cathappy:
