Good morning, friends!

Well, we received word that Colly's SO would like to move forward with the production of a print volume of her work, the proceeds of which will go to the Kaplan Family Hospice. (Thank you, Mat, for helping that along!)

I'll clean up this post later with more concise information, but here's how I'd like to proceed (although I'm certainly open to other ideas):

On a first-come basis (which is appropriate for a smut writers' hangout, methinks), participants choose one of Colly's stories for the anthology. They then write a paragraph or two (no more than 350 words, please) about Colly which will preface that story in the book.

We'll need an Intro and back cover blurb -- just like the other editions -- as well as cover art, and we can spill into a second volume if necessary. (Mel has completed the Foreword and I've done the Preface.)

Turnaround time depends on YOU! I have a manuscript file ready & waiting.

So, if you want to participate, grab a Colly story & call dibs on it. I'll keep track in the second post.

NOTES: Take Two is already published in volume 1 of Coming Together. Irish Eyes is off limits for reasons I'm not at liberty to disclose. The two novels (The Furies and The Spy Wore Petticoats) could be standalone volumes, if desired.

Once you've selected your Colly story, grab it from Lit, paste it into a DOC or RTF file, add your blurb at the top, and e-mail it to me at: EroticAnthology[at]aol.com.

I'll take, Take Two.

Edited to add: Damn... I have to read the whole post.

OK, I'll take Latin. She confered with me several times on writing it since MC is my game. She didn't feel she was very good at the Cat. Of course she went on to win the Readers Choice in that Cat the next year. (beating me soundly.)

Imp,

'The Run', please. First one of Colly's I ever read. I still like it. Starting on the preamble just as soon as I've had lunch.

A query - are we allowed to edit? I ask because she used 'loose' in 'The Run' where she meant 'lose'. Or is it 'warts and all'?

Alex

I'll take 'The Contest' - it's one of Colly's less well known stories and for me, epitomizes the challenge we all face, in various guise.
Here is a link to the story

EDIT: Blurb

The Contest

This story from Colleen, first published on Literotica.com in January 2004 is about facing the challenge from within. It is a tale of confronting fear and overcoming the obstacles placed in our path, a territory all too familiar to Colleen. Despite the personal difficulties of her life through illness, Colleen stood ready to help others in the challenges they faced with a kind word, encouragement and support, and a unique brand of love that spanned the sexes and the generations.

Her self-consciousness was legendary, yet she never allowed it to prevent her from riding into battle, fighting for a cause, or patiently elaborating her position in the face of opposition that would overwhelm lesser mortals. She was brave, and her bravery is expressed through this story and the slaying of the demons that seek to inhibit our personal goals and try to diminish our achievements. Colleen set the standard for others to emulate.

I would say editing of "obvious errors only." What do y'all think?

We'll have other benefit products in the CafePress store, too (such as -- FINALLY -- an ABSTRUSTIONS t-shirt!) ... so if you have a design for a poster or t-shirt or mug that you'd like to contribute, lemme know!

Basic proofing should be allowed, surely - that's just respect.

Glad to see A Separate Peace is in, I also think the final story - for obvious reasons - should be The Last Fuck, Goodbye - I think The Earl might take this from his comments earlier.

The book surely must have Bets .

I didn't know her other than as a fan and a reader - we exchanged a few comments - but, if none of her friends object to me butting in, I would propose The Long Way Home.

Colleen classed it as 'Incest' but it would have been at home in several other categories - for me, one of her many top gems.

I don't mind someone else taking it - as long as it's included.

Would it be appropriate to ask Melissa to write the intro?

Damn, I wish I logged in earlier now...

I wanted The Contest , cos that was her first Erotic Horror, and it's one I worked with her on and edited... it's also the one I have on my site (Psyche Erotica - which is now back up, and I'm working on updating it). Even though she didn't need to, she even asked my permission, before she also posted it on Lit, that daft thing!

Neon, love, could I please persuade you to choose another? I hate to ask, but that story is so linked to Colly for me.

Sorry :rose:

I started a thread in the Visual Artists Corner asking them to design a cover (and perhaps conduct their own contest to choose it).

Cor... bloody cheek. You lay in bed all morning, get up in time for the footy, and then ask me to bend over. :D

A gentleman always gives way. I can see why this important to you, take a look at my blurb above - it is not perfect I know, but it is why this particular story stuck with me. Be my guest.

Wonderful blurbishness, neon -- and a great example for the others. :rose:

lol, I've been doing "house-holdy" things (not like me, I know, but I have my moments. ;) )

Oooh eck, that's a wonderful blurb. It's quite ironic, though... as you said, that was one of her least well known pieces, and two of us wanna choose it. I can definitely understand why it struck a chord with you.

We'll discuss this in PM. :)

Damn - I misread that, I thought it said we'll discuss this in bed. :D

I'm happy (ONLY if others agree) for my blurb to be incorporated as part of the intro or page cover comments, with ammendments, but really those pages ought to be for people closer to Colly than I was.

I'm calling dibs on the Foreword, myself. The verse Mel posted (from the memorial card in the AH deck) should be included somewhere, too, I believe.

That's it (for now).
