Starship Titanic - OOC

In the far future, when humanity has joined the galatic community with the rest of the alien races which have achieved interstellar travel, relations between Earth and the other races are good, but shaky. Earth, now known as Terra, finally exists under a unified government, and the planet enjoys an unprecedented peace. Many of the other space faring species of the galaxy have welcomed the Terrans into their community with open arms, finding the naive race to be quite intriguing.

This new relationship between humans and the other alien races, while still shaky, has not been without benefits. Shared technology has allowed the Terrans to make leaps and bounds in the science of interplanatery space travel, and many Terran groups have been wise to take advantage of it for.. profitable ends. Many organizations have used the faster-than-lightspeed travel technology to create 'galatic cruise liners'. These ships are designed for those who are wealthy enough to enjoy the lavishness and luxury, while seeing some of the most beautiful planets in the galaxy.

Just recently, production was finished on a cruise liner known as the Starship Titanic, a vessel which has drawn quite a bit of interest as it's highly advanced hull makes it virtually unbreachable. It is also the first luxury galatic cruise liner which is affordable for all but the most poverty stricken individuals. The Starship Titanic plans to go on a trip several months long, visiting some of the most fantastic vacation planets including: Tinaz V, which has some of the most breathtaking beaches, Zarain, with it's majestic mountain peeks, Ionas, a planet where the practice of physical therapy has become a veritable artform, and much much more.

I sort of came up with this thread idea on a whim, as it seemed like a really interesting idea for a space-based SRP series. Basically, you can make a character of just about any race you can come up with, as long as you offer up some information about that race so anyone else playing has some clue how to react to your character. Also, no fantasy creatures please. No Vampires, Werewolves, Minotaurs, Elves, or any of that.

The whole setting allows for a chance to make interesting characters which can mingle and, well, 'mingle'. And it also offers a chance to visit any sort of interesting place the players would like to visit. It allows for, in my opinion, all sorts of creative situations. But most of all, I'd just like everyone to have lots of fun. This thread is for discussion of the thread, and posting of characters. I'll be working on an introduction post for a bit, so please, if you want to join, just come in and ask anything you like, I'll be glad to answer.

EDIT: By the way, I ask that anyone writing in this thread be mature and at least try to have good grammar. I don't mean to be a bother about it, but I'd prefer that people try to write well, and at least have one or two paragraphs per post at a minimum.

One question though, do they have to be humanoid aliens or will any size/shape/etc work?

They can be just about anything you like: sentient gas clouds, something that resembles a giant sea anemone, a gellatinous cube, etc, etc. The only limits are your imagination!

I might be tempted with using an alien race from a game. Klackons - sentient humanoid ants, only sorta, light brown in colour. Probably end up being just a conversation-type character though

Well, that really depends on whether or not Emperor Phalux, the tentacle alien, can even get one of his elongated, flexible, unsegmented extensions into my character's skirt.

Ok, i'm a tad tired right now, so it could be because the more rational part of my brain is asleep, but I have got a preliminary character stat.

Name: Kachkoloakk (assumed name - on his homeworld they do not have names. They identify each other by pheremones)
Species: Klackon (basically, ant-men)
Age: 8 (average life expectancy of species - 23)

Weight: 413 lbs (exoskeleton is thick and heavy)
Basic physical description: quadraped humanoid ant. broad head with large multi-faceted eyes, twin antennae, large primary mandibles, small secondary mandibles covering mouth. two arms, each ending in a fairly deterous three-fingered hand. Carapace is a dull brownish colour

Also, Screech, if you could write a little bit of info about the Klackons so the other characters can form their own views about them, that would be really helpful. It doesn't have to be anything huge, just some general info about them and their society.

Appearing to be one giant spherical city twice the size of Terra and even more polluted and over-populated. Zorgh are also known to be quite perverted and vile.

Emperor Phalux has been in power the last 200 Terran Years. He is also a principle partner in the creation and operation of the Galactic Cruise Lines. After being the center of a sex scandel on a neighboring planet the Emperor has decided to take a vacation on one of the newest cruise liners...the Starship Titanic.

Background:
Trishia only recently left home, getting a small apartment on the colony of Plaris II which is one of the few colonized planets outside of the Sol System. She grew up most of her life on Terra, living in the United States before going to college on Plaris. Her interest involves space travel, and she hopes to join the Terran Space Force and becoming a starcraft pilot herself. Her isolation to Terra left her without much interaction with the other alien species, and she's intensely curious about meeting other races.

Her friends, already having planned to take a vacation on the Pegana Moons, pressured her into buying a ticket for the Starship Titanic Cruise. Not generally the type of girl to go out and party, or to experiment with interspecies relationships like her friends, Trishia only reluctantly took the opportunity. Now she'll get a chance to meet all sorts of interesting creatures on board the galaxy's largest cruise liner. The prospect is.. exciting, at the least.

So that's Emperor Phalux? Hmm, I'm not sure if I'm scared or excited.

Species: Glorean
Physical Description: Humanoid she stands at 6'2 and moves with a slender, fluid grace. Long, wavy royal purple hair sets off sky blue skin and startlingly violet eyes. Glorean's aren't known for being curvy but her firm B-cup breasts and heart shaped ass are considered generous on her home planet.

Background: Her planet's actual name isn't pronounceable in any human tounge and is thus usually just designated Kya 12 to mark it's position on star charts. They call themselves Glorean which in Trix's native tongue means "Peaceful One's". Unlike many planets hers had never been truly violent or warlike and science and religion have rarely been at war with each other. Instead both science and spirtuality are seen as valid ways of seeking their Divinity.

Because Kya 12's gravity is nearly twice that of Earth's when they leave their planet Glorean's tend to walk with a lilting dancers gate and often appear almost as if they were floating.

Having an affinity for the Terran practice of tattooing a large red - in contrast to the blues and purples of her hair and skin - chinese dragon is coiled on Trix's right shoulder blade with the body stretching up and over her shoulder, the head coming down over her chest and when she removes her shirt it can be seen that the dragons tongue snakes down and around her right nipple.

Already creating an interesting group. I just hope Emperor Phalux's reaction to any of the female characters isn't to start pawing at the immediately with his tentacles. But I have to admit, I love the idea of some business-minded, tentacle, pervert. And your character is really cool, too, caela.

Yeah, I decided to go with a human character, cause if everyone is going to be playing aliens, then someone has to be, at least, the one human.

I've been toying with the idea of letting the Emperor have a human form, but I think it's just way better being the tentacled perverted alien right out in the open...and no, he wont be randomly "pawing" at all the pretty gals.

hehehe...i thought about it but decided to be humanoid instead of human. I figured the guys were weird enough that I could have a more "normal" appearing alien.
