I have been busier than a beaver in a flood and as tied up as one of two BDS&M lovers. But...I been hearing chitter chatter about the need for a poem contest here at lit. 'Valentines Day' is coming, one month to converse, convey, relay and execute accordingly.

What say 'Ye' ?

I am willing to donate the prize, (same as last year's ?), if some one with a lot of time wants to orchestrate this. (the poets?) Entries sent to one/or more persons (by? Feb 1) (two weeks) so that they can be put on a poll thread and voted on till (? 10th? 12th?) (one and a half weeks) and winner announced on the 14th. The 'no' names attached to the poems was a nice touch.

Well, I been kicking this around in my head and thought I'd toss it out there. I think this forum is grand but it lacks what other forums offer, a poetry contest. Poems of love, hearts, candy, naked angels <grin and any other Valentine topic.

Good idea! I mean, not using beavers as BDSM tools, but the contest... we have not done one in quite a while!

I can help to gather the poems, etc. if no one else wants to do it. It is a lot of work, you are right, but um, you know, I got lots of time :rolleyes:

I set up "Poetry Contest" as a screen name for the last one we did, and would be willing to give that one up for anyone to use...you just change the password to keep my nose out of it-- it was nice to have it last time so that the only thing coming and going from the account had to do with the contest, it made things easier to organize.

I figured this to be the chit chat thread to generate it. Then the contest thread would have a lustrious name like...

"Valentines Day Poem Contest"
or "The 'VD' Contest"

I am a good canidate to handle the lovey poems, as writing them is not in my future. I am in the process of adopting a puppy. I know my brain will turn to mush, just like anytime there is a baby in the house. My voice goes up an octave just thinking about that cute ball of fuzz, the thought of romantic love suffers greatly whever there are babies around.

Good lord, I know there are puppy av's coming. Lord help me if I start a thread talking about what a good boy he was pooping in his potty spot.

You have any canidates to partner up with me, partner?

Oh goodness, we are not going to argue about sigh the placement of the poems in thread 1 (oh no people will think they are the best!) or (oh no! No one will read those! Is it fair?) eek. This contest stuff is tough. I will try to work something out that is fair, then put it up for public scrutiny and discussion protest and bra burning.

Then I will show a new picture of my puppy and while y'all are sayin "Awww!" I will post them simultaneously and it will all be good.

Seriously I will go back to the old threads and try to remember what worked and what did not. I know we have to figure out a way to have more votes in the final round, the one time there were not enough to make any sense in the end.

I am babbling.

Actually I have bars of organic fair trade chocolate, milk chocolate and then I have some extra extra dark chocolate that has very little sugar if any, I swear this stuff tastes like suckin' the cocoa bean. ick.

but I will buy sugar free chocolate just for you....

So, what's the contest about? I stuck it but forgot to read it... I guess I should go do that.
