I am still discovering all the neat things I can do with mine, and though I post a heap of the results on the photography thread, it is only a small percentage of what I actually take once I make the time. Hey, I have a question. Does anyone know about G forces and Digital cameras?

I mean, I'd hate to take our new expensive darling camera on a roller coaster and kill it.

Anyone know about this?

BTW, what camera did you buy IYM? I am hoping to get my broken one fixed as a back up...and to keep a lid on my hungering for others to add to the collection. Hmmmm, had this problem with 35mm and TLR cameras too, but it also lead to falling into being paid for my photographic work.

I can't help you on that, though I imagine as long as you have it in a well padded camera bag it should be safe....after all, you see pics taken of people on the roller coaster. Perhaps it would be a good idea to either contact the manufacturer or a camera forum such as the dp review one which has forums for general talk as well as particular brands and makes and have a huge number of professional photographers as well as keen amateurs who are usually more than willing to share information. Let us know what you find out please, as I had not really thought about it before.

The saying that your junk is another's treasure, holds true for broken cameras!

I will be posting new photos as we take then, this camera has so many features, it will be just when it becomes obsolete, I should just about have it down pat!

LOL, well they keep bringing out new models so quick it is hard to resist the urge for new features. Have to say although Canon release new models twice a year, the Canon G6 will keep me relatively happy for awhile....though if a good fairy wants to buy me a EOS-IDs; EOS 5D; EOS-IDs Mark11; Pro 1 and/or
Powershot S1 IS I won't say no. The G6 is 7.1 mp and prosumer level which is a bit more advanced then the Canon Powershot s45 I dropped which was a point and shoot 4 mp but with excellent results.....still want it fixed. The extra pixels are not that important for on the PC, but I can now enlarge my photos in print much more without noticing any deterioration in quality than with the previous model which makes me very happy. My biggest concern was many reviews and people on forums said it took awhile to get used to it before you could get a half decent pic out of the G6....and I saw some horribly blurred and under-exposed pics to prove the point...but as you can see below, my first pic was gorgeous and they just keep coming. Does it show I am in love with a mere technical machine?!!

As to the junk/treasure debate......I try not to think of how much I threw or gave away when I moved here. Was a matter of necessity, but some of the things I thought the most worthless I have since foudn could have been worth more than I thought. I went and ran some errands today after canceling all my gigs for the week something I have never done before. In fact, I had never canceled even one gig before last week when I found myself throwing up right at the time I needed to walk out the door.

Anyway the upshot is, that I'm exhausted from those errands. I have too much to do to get ready for my next trip. I'll probably just buy some disposable cameras for the parks. It's likely I won't do the research required to find out about the digital.

If I do I'll report in.

ok so is an Olympus 5.1 megapixels D-435 camera good. I have some on my credit card to spend and I thought I would get a camera. It would cost me 288 points.

Looks like a great camera with lots of features to make is easy to use and reliable. From what I have read, you can also enlarge pics quite a lot if you want, and the quality of image is good. The added advantage, unlike mine, is it will take AA batteries so you can buy them almost anywhere if they go flat and you have no spares. There is not a lot of feedback out ther so far because it is so new, but it seems the reviewers give it a good rap. Have fun with it. LOL, on a similar note, my sister called me from Oz last night all excited because she had just bought a digital camera. She has been thinking about it for awhile, asking my advice, and researching and finally decided on the new Canon A620. Now she just has to get it in the mail and talk her husband into letting her buy a computer and printer, and she will be in heaven I am sure.
