You know who I am talking about. You know it as soon as you read their posts and you can discern it from the titles of their threads.

They are the ones who see nothing positive in the United States and spend days predicting its demise and cannot wait to point out the slightest of failings.

They see the military as inept and the leadership as a collection of idiots. They see business as evil polluters, and employers as truly evil people who crush the little man. They fear the religious and ascribe to them the basest of motivations and complete lack of intelligence. They think that calling someone a Republican is tantamount to calling them a Nazi, in fact, they cannot stop mentioning the Nazis. When it comes to non-Democrat wrongs and misdeeds, they have an elephant's memory and when a Democrat misdeed is brought up, they at once dismiss it as ancient history.

They are also the first intolerant ones eager to point out the stupidity of any one with a diverse, but differing opinion.

Bad news for the United States is good news for them. They are bearish, rather than bullish when it comes to the States, hence the moniker, Bad News Bears.

;) ;)

That's another movie I haven't seen.

It's just not Grease that I've never seen, but I have endured an entire month of Les Miserables...

Hey, get the jingoism right. It's not that he won't meet with a protestor (again). "He's hiding from a protestor." See how much better that sounds?

The tough questions are asked, they just don't get answered, ever see a packed press conference? The fresher reporters ask but they are never the ones who get called.By the time your respected enough or of the caliaber to work with high ranking officials, you've been kissing ass so long to get where you are you don't know how do anything else, or won't risk the aftermath. Thats how it is, it all comes down to what the corporations who sign the checks want to sell or who they want in or out. Media depends on adveritsers, who work for big business who pull the strings.

Evil big business...

Just wait till Hillary puts her left hand on a Harry Potter book and raises her right hand and takes the oath. The bad news bears will be good news bears overnight.

Just imagining some of LT's future Hillary threads makes me proud to be an American.

Had Kerry had won, we would be just days away from victory in Iraq...

The flip side of your argument are what I call Tinkerbelle Republicans...if you've ever seen Peter Pan onstage, there's a scene where Tinkerbelle "dies" and Peter Pan implores the audience to BELIEVE! JUST BELIEVE! and miracle of miracles, Tinkerbelle "survives".

That's America in 2005...we've got a record deficit, an administration so totally out of touch with mainstream America that 3 out of 5 citizens dissapprove of their own government, and a woefully understaffed imperial adventurism in a hostile country that has denigrated into a quagmire.

Nonetheless, like Kevin Bacon in his very first role in Animal House, the Tinkerbelles puff up their chest and shout "all is well! All is Well! ALL IS WELL!"

These types continually look for opportunistic targets to demonize, hopefully a segment of American society too cowed to retaliate. This typically means the "usual suspects": Jews, blacks, women, Muslims, gays and liberals. You can't bash Jews here because partnering with the fringe Likkudists is a cornerstone piece of neo-con philosophy. Blacks are largely out too, because America has become conditioned to condemn race-baiting in a post-Civil Rights world. You definitely treat women here as some sort of second class citizen under the guise of "looking out for what's best for them" (i.e. foisting your religious beliefs on their bodies). It's not misogyny but it is paternalistic sexism. Muslims were for one brief moment your retaliation-free targets of choice, but then some of the more extreme fringes of the GB started hollering for eradication of ALL Muslims, and you lost the initiative there.

That left you with the old bashing standbys, gays and liberals. I think it truly confounds you that gays and liberals don't sit there and take your abuse stoically, like they did in the "good ole days". Reagan used to use "liberal" as a peorative, why doesn't that work any more?

A number of the radical right here bemoan the lack of tolerance (or "tolorance" (sic) ) from others who don't feel like they do. Simply put, many folks on Lit are simply intolerant of your intolerance. They have no respect for a "differing, diverse viewpoint" that includes making de facto second-class citizens in the United States.

In summary, I categorically reject your latest attempt to somehow link support for the United States of America with support for the failing Bush Administration. Contrary to your belief, I do not wish ill on either the United States as a country or the Bush Administration. I do reserve the right, however, to continue to criticize what I feel are shortcomings and deceitful activities of the Bush Administration.

I've said this before and I think it still holds true: I support my country. You support your president.

Have a nice day! :D

More good news from the team mascot...

:D

PRICELESS in proving my point.

And he doesn't even see it that way!

You just can't script this kind of co-operation...

Typical dismissal.

Every time I call your bluff you start giggling like a schoolgirl and go into full non-sequitur mode.

Priceless in proving MY point.

You don't have a point. Just a burning, festering hate and absolute disbelief that not everyone sees Bush as an idiot Hitler-esque monkey with Cheney as his organ grinder. It is impossible to have a conversation with you, so I no longer bother. Lord knows I tried and tried but I finally gave up. You talk AT people, not to them. LT south.

Even peeps is more lucid than you after his return from the pub...

Mornin Jack. I turned Ange on to some of the newer Los Lobos last night. Also some Leo Kottke.

She liked it alot.

Sorry to hijack this political thread-Im just a dummy.

I miss Jimmy Carter's brother. Its widely known that he wizzed on the walls of the White House . Highly conspiratorial actions such as this are noteworthy, as he suggested that Billy Beer cans make good Mortar shells, and even convinced Willie Nelson that we could reduce the deficit by employing them with the beer replaced with water from the Potomac. Or added for max killing power.

Kennedy had Bobby, Bush has Jeb. Jimmy had Billy and should have made him Attorney General. Nepotism within the Spoils System is tradition, but those Horn Rim glasses were a deal breaker.

What year is it?

;)

This is the best line from RDS's post.

..................................................................................................................................

This is NOT something fucking new! Just so happens we have a Republican president in office this term.

What? Were you born in the seventies or something?
