Bleach - an odd name for a great show.

This is a summary post - I'll reveal more detailed information lower down for those who are interested. Here will be the bare bones - if you think you might be interested then please take the time to dig deeper.

This thread is based around the exploits of a Squad of Soul Reapers who search out lost spirits and gather them into the Soul Society, where they can find peace in the afterlife. Standing in the way are the evil spirits who feed on the lost - the more powerful of which also hunt regular Humans and even Soul Reapers too.

Our happy squad - the Fifteenth Squad of the Soul Society - needs Soul Reapers who will swear to protect the Humans and save the lost spirits. Shinigami are pretty diverse - there's no limit on age, race, gender or size. The only requirement is that you be able to handle a sword of some type, and that you have strong Spirit Energy.

Most of what the Squad will be doing will be fighting the evil spirits on Earth or training / resting back at Soul Society. Shinigami work in small teams or alone on the hunt, but they train in larger groups. Particularly nasty evil spirits might involve sending out the whole squad, but this is rare. Mostly you'll be picking a writing partner or two who you work well with and keeping yourself amused with equal amounts of fighting, boinking and partying - but there will also be a larger plot involving the whole squad that should be fun too.

This is a little bit different, it could be a whole lot of fun - so if you already know the series and would love to play a part in an ecchi version of it, or if you think the concept is cool, then please PM me to discuss characters.

(More information follows in the next post for those who are interested)

See, the way the world works is this; in the physical world, we humans go about our daily lives unaware of the fact that we're surrounded by spirits. These are mostly harmless creatures, wandering towards the Soul Society on their way to the afterlife. Unfortunately these good spirits - the Plusses - aren't the only type out there. All your nightmares are given form in the Hollows - spirits who have lost their hearts and exist to consume spirit energy. Mostly they harvest this from the poor wandering Plusses - but some of the more powerful ones aren't too fussy about time of death, and take it from normal humans, which kills them in the process.

Of course the dead couldn't simply let this state of affairs continue and they send the most powerful spirits from the Soul Societies - the Shinigami (Soul Reapers) to fight the hollows and gather up the lost plusses. Using their Zanpaktoh (Soul Cutting Sword) and their magic, the Shinigami have been battling Hollows for most of history, and the fight is likely to stretch on until the end of time.

The Shinigami give us a wide range of character choices. They can be any age, either sex and any size or shape. Fighting styles are mostly based around the sword - but in truth only the weaker Shinigami use the regular Katana. Stronger individuals have a variety of weapons from throwing stars, daggers, swords, chains and on.

Our squad is the Fifteenth - a rookie squad, newly created in response to the greater numbers of Hollows in the modern world. The Fifteenth is not a traditional squad with a great name to live up to, it is new and scrappy and at the bottom of the heap. Except for those poor bastards in Fourth Squad of course.

Here is the Rota of Shinigami in Fifteenth Squad

Taicho (Captain): TBA but taken by Steiner
FukuTaicho (Lieutenant): TBA but taken by MaidOfMarvels
3rd Seat: Open
4th Seat: Open
5th Seat: Open
6th Seat: Open
7th Seat: Open
8th Seat: Open

The organisation is pretty self-explanatory. The Taicho is in charge of the Squad - in addition Captains are generally far, far stronger than regular Shinigami. However they are enmeshed in politics and also subject to severe limitations when actually on Earth. FukuTaicho's are much the same but on a slightly smaller scale. Within the regular squad the seats are handed out in order of strength - so those wanting to play a very strong Shinigami would apply for the 3rd Seat and those who want to play an interesting but less powerful character would choose a lesser seat.

For now that's all the information. As people come onboard with questions I'll expand this section. Obviously the best thing to do is to find the Fansubs and watch them, or grab the Manga from somewhere.

I am intrested in this thread. Are we forced to use just a Katana? Can we use other Melee weapons? I like swords but they are very generic and I would prefer if I could stretch the rule on swords.

Just a heads up... It has to "start" with a sword, but can become anything else afterward. Hope that helps?

Scarlet - most Shinigami wield a simple Katana. However just about every major character has their Katana change into something weird and wonderful.

Oh - one particularly big guy used twin axes, but he really was monstrously big! :)

Steiner and I are writing a "prequel" to our characters on a separate thread called: BLEACH - Birth of a Shinigami.

Would really love to see some folks join in here... I'm sure Steiner would be more than willing to help out with characters, etc. if you just... feed the wolf. ;)

Hiya, Blade...

I was thinking that maybe the series is just not as well known as some of the others. No matter what, this thread is going to play out (be it with two or four or six).

Steiner is away til mid-week, but I'm sure he'll have some input for you when he gets back. In the meantime he and I started a "Prologue" to our back stories so that I could learn more if you want to read along. :)

Well could I write a prolouge or an enterance into the unit maybe,I can if you want me to though.

Well, you don't want to write a prologue as a separate thread, do you? Unless you know someone who wants to play your Lieutenant.

You could develop your profile here though?

Scarlet - I'd love to work with you on a character bio. We need more writers too - I'm thinkin that people will post in groups of 2-4 within the squad. Working together, so as to speak, so that there's enough participation to keep it interesting but not so many in one place that it bogs down.

So if you can think of 1 or 2 people you'd like to write with - please invite them!
