The Hallowed Halls of Hell - OOC

Was this intended for RP inside the boundaries of Hell exclusively, or is a certain level of interaction with the "living world" as denizens of hell permitted?

As a prince or princess, one is able to alter the environs of their principality. That should inlcude the ability to 'cross over'; to warp their own plane in such a way that it touches on that of the living.

Excursions into the mortal realm could provide some very tasty scenarios. That would require a substantial investment of power, of course. It may leave you somewhat drained and vulnerable upon your return...

Looked like you could use a little assistance getting things started...so Jorja came out to play.

xoxo

Magnificent, my dear Jorja! Thank you! You are precisely what I was looking for. Now if we can manage to pick up a few others of your calibur, we'll be off to a brilliant start here.

I've been considering my role in this pageant of perversity. It wouldn't be fair, of course, to put myself in the competition. There will be ample opportunities for bit parts, however. That should be fun...

In the interest of keeping things straight, I propose that all posts should be titled with your character's name, their title, their principality, and their current prestige rank.

i.e. Jorja - Princess of the 2nd Circle - 1 rank of prestige

Let the games begin...

Another thought, maybe if you post on the second thread - for stories that need characters - we'd be able to get a few more warm bodies.

Hi there! This thread sounds really interesting; I'd love to play a succubus or some type of similar demoness in this thread. Maybe one of Jorja's competitors or even one of her underlings? What kind of role do you think the story needs? Competition between succubi is always important, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes...

I love friendly competition ::wink:: and welcome it eagerly. I think a little tension is just what this thread could use, since it really doesn't have a storyline yet.

And Mr. Lucifer...Jorja is eagerly awaiting to see what her note says....

Well then; I think I can give you some of that good old friendly competition!

That said... I'm off to write up an intro post for Annalyra, succubus princess of the 1st Circle! :)

Annakiel

The Fell Knight Annakiel (AHN'- ah- kill), called The Eyes of Carnage when his True Name was best unspoken, harbored no certain goals for upward mobility. Thus far through the ages he had been content to serve in the Courts, moving as needed to whomever had use for his skills. Where once before, ages past, he had been called Annashell (AHN'- ah- shel), The Heart of War and had been known for his skill in any type of battle his sojourn in the Abyss had corrupted him.

Once tall and leanly built, with flowing blonde hair and brilliant blue eyes that could discern the diferences between two seperate arrows in flight; and a serenely beautiful face his experiences, and the shifting depths of Stygia had changed him. Now his once long and beautiful blonde locks were darkened with soot and dried blood, giving it a darker, redder cast. His once lovely eyes were now empty pits- the horrors inflicted upon him, and by him first changing them to black orbs that released no light, and finally burning them out entirely. His vision was unchanged, but now he stared out at the world from charred and empty husks, the hollow sockets encircled by cracked and blackened skin that seemed to always weep a pale reddish fluid- as though his blood and tears commingled and flowed slowly down his visage.

His frame, once girded in clean and glowing skin, was now encased in a thick hide- like carapace that mimicked armor. He willingly wore no clothes, or protective gear. He disdained such things, and mocked those who entered battle so unsure of thier skill that they had to wear artificial protection. The Fallen being was skilled in all weapons of battle. As mankind devised newer and better ways to slay, the knowledge of these things seeped from the minds of the creators and soldiers directly into Annakiel. Bare hands... spears... bows... swords... firearms... all of these and more were his. Even the knowledge carnal was his, as the body and the mind were, and forever would be, the first and best weapons in creation.

There were many who discounted him, however. He hid his cunning and his raw power behind the facade of a bloodthirsty killing machine, devoid of much intellect. Those few who truely angered him learned first hand of his devistating capabilities, though so far none had survived to share this knowldge with anyone. Annakiel was sure that the Dread Lord of the Pit knew the truth, though he expected that the Lord of Lies was content to allow this most pervasive of untruths to continue in existance for some time to come yet. After all, what better tribute to The Darkest One than to base facet of your existance on a lie?

Annakiel was realmless, in fact he had never progressed beyond the rank of Fell Knight. Content to serve, and gleam his minor pleasures as rewards for jobs well done, he merely watched and catalogued his 'betters'. If the time ever came that he felt the need to rise up, many was the allegedly unassailable Fallen Host who would find themselves at his mercy. As things stood now, he was possibly the safest being in the Halls. His prowess assured him of a position, and the lie he lived promised that no one would ever think him a threat.

Annakile's carapace was scarred from eons of constant battle, the dim red shell crisscrossed with both faint and striking pallid white gouges and marks. It was his habit to allow his foes the first strike, a last vestige of honor and fairness making him offer the chance of victory, however slim, to his victims. The few and far between areas of his flesh unprotected by the hide were pale white, like a slugs underbelly, and the flesh there was malleable. Whatsoever weapon he felt suited the combat at hand could be formed from his own flesh, and used to slay. After the battle was over it was his habit to allow the weapon to subside back into his flesh. It was also his habit to devour the fallen, to subsume thier knowledge and power into himself. It was this quirk that gave him more of his current power than anything else, really. For, when one consumes the power of a Fallen, one assumes a portion of that power in ones self. Perhaps he was capable of usurping a position of power, after all, countless mortal souls and Fallen shards were hidden in the blackness that had once been his own shard.

For now, however The Eyes of Carnage was willing to sit in the shattered portion of Stygia that his current Leige had gifted him with, and await the pleasure of war...

((There ya go. If you think Annakiel is a good entry into the SL, let me know and I'll post something IC.))

Bravo, my friends! This is off to a very good start.

I encourage all of you to read the entries of your peers here in Hell. You are best served by interaction with them.

For those that are creating a new character, first go through the existing posts. See if there is a character named, yet undefined. If you find someone that appeals to you, PM the originator of the thread and see if you can assume that character's role.

Currently, there is a great opportunity for someone to take up the mantle of Arrios, a duke of the Second Circle of Hell. (Sorry, Heinrich, he can't be the prince of the 2nd circle if Jorja has already taken that position).

Now, before you create a new character in the storyline, look to see if someone's existing character would fit the bill. Bit part characters can certainly come and go, but creating feature characters can get a bit tough to manage.

To help in keeping things in line, I'm going to post a running heirarchial map of Lucifer's infernal minions: a who's who of Hell, if you will. This map will be kept up to date in the topmost post of the IC thread.

Didn't I say in the post Arrios was a Duke of the Second Circle? *looks at his post* Heh... I seemed to be giving mixed messages. Some parts he's a Prince and others he's a Duke. Sorry about that... *edits the prince parts out*

There we are. And if someone takes up Arrios, this is just a warning there is already a plot in progress against you. So if you take his spot, you are putting yourself in harm's way.

sounds like an awesome story.. can you lend me the link to the main story so I can read along

Jorja: An excellent introduction to an able and enticing character. Well done!

Lilith: Deliciously described, my dear. We need to get some definition on your master, though. I'm uncertain of what position you were taking in the hierarchy. Is your master Lucifer himself, or an underking, or the prince of the third circle?

Xienti: I can't keep up. You've personified dementia well enough, but more in your writing style than in the character itself. Slow down, use and appreciate punctuation. Mold your characters with your words in such a way that they are clearly defined to your readers. Otherwise, they get lost in the fray...

Henrich: Bloody well done. I like the origin of your character. We just need to get someone to claim Arrios.

Annalyra: Magnificent! A perfect specimen...

Annakiel: He has potential, but I must reiterate: You may employ magic and powers as you like, but I warn against trying to make yourself too 'uber'. We all have weaknesses and faults. These aspects follow into the netherworld as well. If you cross the line too drastically, the devil may have his way with you. And besides, everyone will hate you. He's a juggernaut, this guy. That's fine, to a point. Strength and cunning are great, but remember that vulnerabilities are often the most intriguing aspect of a character. Tone it down a bit and you're welcome to join.

Annakiel isn't invulnerable to a Wizard. Yeah, physically he's strong but mentally he is weak willed. He truly began to cause problems, Henrich could probably pacify him.

*waves his hands and makes a pacifier appear in Jorga's mouth* There you are M'Lady. Anything more? ;)

I suspect that she was looking for something a bit more... substantial ;)

I've been giving this some thought, and I think I've figured out exactly how I want to construct the mechanics of combat.

As characters, you will start with 6 points to apply to four categories:

Strength: Raw physical power. This will factor into confrontations of the flesh, weighed against your opponent's Evasion.

Cunning: Mental agility. This will factor into battles of mind, weighed against your opponent's Will.

Evasion: Physical dexterity/toughness. This will factor into confrontations of the flesh, weighed against your oppornents Strength.

Will: Mental fortitude. This will factor into the battles of mind, weighed against your opponent's Cunning.

Prestige points can be applied to increase your abilities. If and when combat is joined between two characters, the attacker will declare the nature of the attack as physical or mental. I will apply a random modifier against the relevant attributes of the attacker and defender and notify them both of the outcome. The winner is then tasked with detailing the battle.

This should cut down on the uberificness factor and give further incentive for gaining prestige. I don't want to overcomplicate this, but some sanity must be applied or we'll have people lobbing off heads left and right.

Annakiel's weaknesses are myriad. First off, he has no magics or powers beyond his battle capacity. Spellcraft and the like are alien to him, and as such he cannot recognize it, or innately defend against it. Other Fallen possess the ability to resist it, to a degree, or atleast sense it's presence. Not The Eyes of Carnage. He is 100% vulnerable, and cannot tell when someone is girded via magic

Further, Annakiel, for all his intellect and prowess in battle adheres to a strict code of ethics that does not allow him to deviate from the path chosen for him by his superior. He's limited in scope and depth by whatsoever his Master or Mistress wishes him to do. In other words, until he is betrayed by someone, he is honest in his dealings, and will not backstab them.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, like all great warriors, he possesses a weakness, though for game sake I won't be sharing it out in the open. This weakness is something that can cause his downfall, not to mention inflicting a great deal of carnage on him.

The previous post was atleast half in game, and as such I hadn't really wanted to list his flaws... *grins* The path to success often lies in convincing the foe that the battle is won before it's joined...

If the following weaknesses/ flaws aren't enough to show his limitations, and boundaries, let me know, and we'll continue this discussion via PM.

As a last note, I'm going to work straight away after this, and won't be available til after ten my time. I'll check this soonest, and reply as needed.
