A new poem by the Ancient Greek lesbian poet Sappho has been discovered and published (in Greek and translated into English) in the Times Literary Supplement. It was found in the wrappings of a mummy. (We know what you'd been up to, mummy!)
Here are the first four lines:
"You for the fragrant-bosomed Muses' lovely gifts,
Be zealous, girls, and the clear melodious lyre:
But my once tender body old age now
Has seized; my hair's turned white instead of dark."
