As you can tell from the name, I'm fairly new to BDSM, and being a poor college student doesn't help. It seems all of the fun stuff is just TOO expensive for me and my boyfriend/pet/princess. So, do any of you know where I can get some less expensive equipment, or possibly know of normal day to day things that I could use for the same purposes? Thanks for the help!

A really all around informative site for beginners is Frugal Domme:

http://www.frugaldomme.com

There is a good section there on how to make toys, but do look around as there is a wealth of information to be had, and it is all pretty good information too.

I'm sure others will chime in too, but here are a couple things I have found with BDSM stuff- A lot of it is vanilla stuff that has been modified or just used outside it's normal environment. Riding crops, long handled hair brushes, ball gags made out of superballs, collars... Many of these things can be bought elsewhere for a lot less.

If you start browsing BDSM porn sites you can see a lot of everyday stuff being used, clothespins, rubber bands, spatulas.... Give your boyfriend the occasional assignment of finding you a pic or two of some object being used in a creative way.

Like everything else, it gets easier as you go along.

Oh, and don't forget to have fun while you're at it!

The frugaldomme website is loads of fun. I don't have time to look, but if not posted there, a set of 4 tie-downs (workforce) at Home Depot for $10 has lots of potential. Additionally, you can pick up 20' of colorful rope for under $10. Attached is a cute diagram of sorts on rope bondage someone else posted in another thread.

Have fun!

I totally agree^^^

I call it Domme Depot and go there cruisin' for inspiration every once in awhile. I gave the poor young man working in the chain department quite a giggle late one evening when I went and was trying on various chains to see which I liked better. He says, "May I help you?" and I said, " I'm just trying to picture which chain looks better with fleshtones ;)...Can you tell me where to find some clips to secure them around the slats on the bed?"

When I go there for less lustful purposes he smiles and remembers me. I think it's a great place to let your imagination run wild for very little $$$.

Oh! Those plastic ties that slide through and catch are super cheap and fun!

Ahh, the good old days of being a starving college student. I remember it so well, I was DYING to get my hands on all that leather gear, and even a nice pair of shackles was out of my budget.

Some people have given good advice about a few sites that will give you practical options. The other thing I suggest is you learn to do without; learn to improvise on the fly, with whatever you have. It's a great learning experience because in many years you may find yourself unprepared and have no gear to use -- but still want to play.

Pantyhose are good for bondage as long as you are careful about circulation and are prepared to give them up. Panties make a great gag, but be cautious of choking; do not add tape over the mouth (you can slide the panties into the crotch of the pantyhose for a makeshift evil gag).

Take the time to learn to use your body, your unpredictability, your demeanor as tools, also. So much of dominance (enjoying it, at least) is about a comfort level -- and what happens a lot is new femdoms (who can afford toys) find themselves overhwhelmed with all these *tools* that have purposes and expectations associated with them.

You have the benefit of learning slowly, fine tuning your sensuality and seduction skills. It's amazing what you can do with your own voice and a sinister imagination!
