An OOC Casting Call for: The Witch of Lower Denton Fell

Hello, and welcome to Lower Denton Fell, in the wilds of Cumbria, England! We are pleased to have you with us on this day! ;)

The time: late 1600s
The place: England
The Purpose: Witch Hunts!

The Cast:
The village's Cunningwoman/Midwife (me)
The village's powerful and respected land owner (toyMaster)
The village's Preacher (A man of looser morals, but hides it publically)
A "confused young woman" who is uncertain about urges she's been having, and comes to the Midwife for advice. (Later accuses the Midwife as a witch.)

(It's possible we could/would need more characters as the story progresses, but these other two are necessary for our plot!)


Please note, this role play will not be for the faint of heart. It is for those who enjoy hard core BDSM and Sadomasochism. Also, the role of the young woman would be best played by a bisexual or "bi friendly" woman. ;)

We do not have the role play story "open" yet, but it will be soon. Right now we're curious to see if anyone is interested at all?

Once the story is open, though, I do ask that you limit "OOC" posts only to this thread so the story can run more smoothly.
 
Hello.

May I ask if you enjoy Sadomasochistic activities and if you are submissive? It is slightly necessary for the other female lead for this story. ;) Also, it will be helpful if you are at least "bi friendly"...

If not, I'm sure we could figure out another role that you could be comfortable with. :) I'll wait for toyMaster to jump back on next to get His opinion too!
 
I can deal with sadomasochistic activity and I am definatly bi. so let me know the role if you approve of me thanx

Okay, lil mentioned "she could deal with" Sadomasochistic activity (which will be very evedit within this role play), so now the question is, can you X?

toyMaster and I have some set ideas for this role play, and they include the second main female eventually being accused as a witch as well (which means she'll be held captive), and the Preacher kind of being a "secret pervert" (that the community doesn't know about, but in private interrogations of the witches this true nature comes out).

I would be interested in the 2nd main female character as well.. I very much enjoy the Sadomasochistic idea of this.. and am bi-friendly as well.. In case Perky may desire a different role.. or if she had 2nd thoughts..

Hello Ambrosia. Since toyMaster and I are fairly new still we figured we'd do this role play in a first come first serve basis. :)

I'm sure we could always think of more roles anyway. After all, we're talking about a small, close-knit village here! ;)

Hopefully toyMaster will pop in and see what other female roles would be good. I think we're only going to have two accused witches so things don't get too confusing, though.

Hi Ambrosia

There will be another part for a female. That of the squire's housekeeper, who will be bringing food to the prisoners and the other characters as well as having liaisons with the male characters at least.

Interested?

Okay, lil, X, and Ambrosia...it's time to let ya'll know a couple/few details we want to work with here. :)

Now, I, for one, am not the best history buff, so I'm not saying each post has to be perfect, but we do want to try to keep this somewhat historically accurate.

Our setting is late 1600s England, small village where many peasants would be considered ignorant, or simple folk. Witch scares. God fearing people (most of 'em...lol). Etc.

lil, we want your character to be younger than mine (mine is set for 28) and struggling with herself to fight these "odd" urges she feels towards females in the village. (Has no desire for the males. Hasn't let them court her, etc.) Her description, etc., is entirely up to you. Just remember, English women back then wouldn't have been tall vixens. ;) And they didn't shave. lol

X, your character is the town Priest/Preacher, as mentioned before. I have NO idea if there was a more common religion or not, so I guess it could be your choice to make him Catholic or another branch of Christianity. We're looking for a morally corrup kind of person, but a "secret" one. The villagers do not know of the evil side that lurks in their spiritual leader.

Ambrosia, your character could be any age you prefered. Especially under 25, I'd think. She'd be single, never married, set out for work as soon as it was possible/available, etc. She gets "free" room and board for her services. And as toyMaster mentioned, a "special relationship" could develop between her character and his, or even the Preacher's. No "bi activity" is needed.


toyMaster and I are working on some ideas to get the story up and running now. You can all expect to see it possibly by the end of the weekend! ;)

X Project, when you do construct your character, can you ensure that he's not a Methodist..... they didn't exist until the 18th century. Almost anything else is fine.
 
hmmm, I'm an atheist with absolutely no idea how a religion works except for Church of England and I don't think that existed that far back. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I will play a catholic priest who is frustrated with his vow of celibacy and is trying to take advantage of village girl's confessions to him.

Any good? :devil:

historical accuracy

A thought on things historical...

If you want some accuracy then the clergyman really has to be Church of England, if he's the official churchman in the area. C of E has been around since the 16th c. In Cumbria there would be some Catholicism but they were somewhat persecuted in the 17th c and there would not be a Catholic priest openly active - though there might well be clandestine ones and Catholic families.

X, I think your idea still works, even though the C of E priests weren't celibate - the gals could go to your character in hope of help but find they are exploited by him.

If there's scope for it I could play a Justice of the Peace - JP, the local dispenser of law in England. They would be involved in the early stages of any witchcraft claims and preparation for trial before judges.

He would, of course, be willing to bend the rules for women who were "appreciative" of his efforts. Equally, his pleasure in tormenting them would be a poorly guarded secret in the community.

The Housekeeper to the Squire (Landowner)
Name: Karyn Wells
Age: Just turned 20
5'5"
130 pounds
Description: Fair skin, Deep green eyes, Dark chestnut brown hair usually pulled back in a pony tail or braid...
Does not think of herself as pretty... more plain than anything.. and tends to avoid sexual contact... she figuring no one would want her..

Has been working as a housekeeper/maid/child care since 16... Been working for the Squire since she turned 18...

Comes from a very poor family.. most of whom are gone now.. only ones left are a grandfather and 3 female cousins.. the 3 females have managed to marry into very well-to-do families and have little to do with Karyn or her grandfather..

She is quiet.. but watches and hears most everything.. she is loyal to the Squire since he takes pretty good care of her... (but who knows.. that may change depending on how the story plays out... and where the characters go.. if that is ok.. )

For the moment that is about it... I will edit and add if I think of anything else...

I'm talking to toyMaster to see what might be a good role. :) We're not looking for a "Justice of the Peace", per se, because we are shooting for a small, mainly ignorant, little village of God fearing (some trying to break away in thier own minds, at least) people.

I'll let ya know what we come up with. :)
