I think that it is good etiquette for a new Moderator to introduce him/herself and lay out certain ground rules before he/she starts messing with the forum. Barging in with a made-up cover username without some sort of 'hello' is in really bad form in my opinion.
 :(

"Barging in"? Perhaps it would be nicer if we welcomed the new moderator instead of bashing him/her. Remember, we are guests here. No matter how long we have been here or how many contributions we have made, we are only guests. Welcome "The Conformist", good to have you aboard.

... and another thing, too! You can't expect someone NOT to have an alter-ego as the 'moderator'. It they didn't somebody would 1-bomb them in a hurry! If I wanted all this conflict, I would be on the General Board! 'Nuff said!

It is kind of rude for someone to come in and move threads that are integral to the Story Feedback forum, like the New Story Advertisements, without first introducing themselves and giving some kind of warning.

People have used that thread for ages to announce their new stories to get votes and feedback. It should not have been moved to the AH. It belongs in this forum, not there.

Sorry Crim, I obviously don't know what I'm tallking about. My apologies to all.

What a pleasant way to welcome the new moderator.

Did you try PMing the person and discussing this matter before you got all mad?

So, THAT's where it went?

No one even bothered to answer my thread asking where that thread went to. If someone moved it, why not tell me? Or, why not SHOW it here as "Moved" like the 14 threads moved from the HT yesterday? At least we would know it was moved and could go find it.

And, if there is a moderator here now, she is not listed or shown anywhere.
Yes, if would be nice if she would introduce herself and tell us the new ground rules, like planning to delete all the threads she didn't like, or whatever.
(I fully expect this post and this thread and my other thread to be deleted soon, so read it quick. It wouldn't be the first time.)
Moderator, if we have a new one here, introduce yourself and tell us what you intend to change here and I will welcome you and abide by your rules, as always.
But, deleting threads without telling anyone won't be welcomed by many people.

Why that would make sense and be polite.

.

It's listed on the main forum page where all the moderators are listed by their forum. Since it's a brand new registered name with no posts, it seems very likely to be an alt.

Deja vu..

I choose not to post so that there would be no familiarity with the regulars of this forum. This is to prevent any type of familiarity that may be misconstrued as favoritism.

I have not barged in. I was put in place by Laurel. Yes I can be considered an alt. But does that matter? On this forum I have a particularly easy job. I have little to no spam to remove. There are few unrelated threads to this forum.

I will not intervene with differences in personal opinion. Not here, nor in PM.

I wish you all well and please continue to interact as the responsible adults you've proven yourselves to be.

I am here to keep the place free of spam, not interfere with your personal interaction. If any feel I have done you an injustice, I’d like to discuss this in PM.

Dude, you're a fucking pussy.

So, let me get this straight, new mod

The "New Story Advertisements" thread, which was in the "Story Feedback" forum is now considered to be "SPAM"?
You have a weird concept of the meaning of spam.
I suspect you are related to the HT moderator. But, at least she tells us (Sometimes) when she moves a thread.
obtw, I can't find that thread on the AH, so why don't you come clean and TELL us where you moved it to. It probably won't matter if it's not moved back here, because it will die anywhere else.

If you be nice and treat people with the respect they deserve, then I welcome you. If not, then you and Lit will get what it apparently wants, whatever that is.

Now, if you want to moderate something, why not go over to the AH. They could really use it over there. :) Ok, back off - just kidding.

It's there... on the AH. I found it on the second page about 5 or so threads down from the top. It's going to die there though unless someone can get Laurel to move it back.

There isn't enough bandwidth to explain why every thread might be moved to another forum.
I apologize that I used "spam" to describe threads that aren't for this forum.

As a courtesy I will "Move thread and leave redirect in previous forum".

Laurel and Manu have specific forums for specific reasons, what we grow accustomed to may not be what was intended by the site administrators.

Thank you!

I thank you for your response. I've wasted over an hour looking for it and writing about it, when this type of post by you would have saved me and others a lot of wasted time, time that we could have spent reading, or, hell, even writting stories.

Still don't understand why THAT thread doesn't belong in THIS forum.?

I'm curious about that myself since it's been here for right at three years and Laurel's never deemed to move it. What's the difference between it and all those individual threads posted by writers announcing their new stories? They all do the same thing. Announce new stories so people will read them and send feedback.

OK, IMO, the story feedback is for why people like a story.

The Story Discussion Circle 'Guided author criticism of specific stories.' is for enhancing the story or story line.

If I was too literal in the definition then I apologize and will ask for Laurel or Manu to replace the thread here.

I am not trying to impose my will upon those here, only keep this small community intact and as intended when it began.

I PMed a welcome message to "The Conformist, the new moderator, and received a nice response. Oh, BTW, I posted to the "New Story Avertisments" thread to bring it to the AH front page, so it could be found instead of complaining about it.

P.S. I expect to get 1-bombed, due to my comments here...

If you get 1 bombed - which is immature of whoever is doing it. PM Laurel nicely and she will help sort things out.

Thanks Debbie, that's very nice. I'm turning off my subscription to this thread now, so if you want to reach me please PM.

Thanks again, for your response

I think it is not only for feedback on a story, but for people asking for feedback on a story. And, what better way than to post a new story on the "New Story Advertisements" thread? And what better place for that thread than the "Story Feedback" forum?

I have asked for feedback on one or two specific stories here, and got some good feedback and ideas for the next stories. But, if I just have a new story released, want people to read it, and am not asking for specific feedback, for whatever reason, then that thread is the place to put it. I have read many other stories that are posted there by other authors. I feel it is supporting the authors here in the forums, the ones who want other forum members to check out their stories.

I don't know HOW they managed to hide that thread from just ME! :)
That brings up another thing, that we used to have a thread "Search" function here where we could search for a thread. It's gone now!!?? Not everything new is better.

Well, thanks for explaining yourself. :rose: No more complaining from me.
Got to go read some stuff now.
I think I'll go read the feedback on the "Nipple" stories! ;) :p :D

I've been around a few years and this is an absolute low for start by a Mod.

Anonymity so that you will avoid the appearance of favoritism? That's crap. I think the forum is entitled to know the history and slant of the one who plays the impartial judge. KM never hid behind an alias. Pure over at the SDC doesn't. Ditto for LadyCibelle at the Editors' forum or catalina_francisco at the BDSM board.

There's not enough bandwidth to explain? More crap. What rule did the moved threads break? In fact, if you ask the regulars here, you'll get an overwhelming response that the Adverstisement thread couldn't be a better contribution to this forum. You seem to be so out of touch with the environment here that I wonder...

And besides, tell me again why the forum needs a moderator after all? Or, perpahs you'll say that you are just doing what Laurel asked you to do, right?

PS To the ones that thought that a 'welcome' or 'polite PM' was in order. Get your priorities right. It is the new Mod's responsibility to say "Hello, I'm here and here's how I will be running this place. What do you think?" But, no, we get someone who hides behind an alt and immediately starts treating the board is his/her personal fief. Contrast all this to how other new Mods (Pure or LadyC) recently started their tenure and how much of a warm welcome they got. You get what you give.
