SUBMISSION QUESTION: How long does it usually take a story to show up on the site?

I submitted two stories about a week ago and they have not shown up on the site yet, nor have I received any contact from the admins indicating a problem. Is this a normal time frame? Should I re-submit?

This was my first submission so I have no idea how long it's supposed to take.

Check your submissions page and see if the stories have any views. If they have, take heart; they should go up soon. If they have not been viewed at all, I'd give it a day or two more and then consider re-submission. I'm given to understand that the program sometimes gliches, although it's never happened to me.

My newest was submitted late Monday night, and went up tonight. I think, although I may be wrong, that as they see more and more of your stories, and realize you're not likely to be pushing at the rules more than you should, your stories start getting posted quicker.

Also, when you check your submissions page, if you click the link where it says "pending," as far as the site is concerned, you've edited your story, whether you have or not, and it gets sent back to the end of the line for approval.

Notice of rejection is usually a Rejected link where the Pending link is now on your submissions page. The day before they post it will change to APPROVED without a link-- the story posts at midnight Pacific time.

The time frame from submision to posting is about a week to ten days, but there are factors that will speed up or slow down posting.

If there is a contest running -- like the Earth Day story contest -- contest entries have priority for posting; they can go up as quick as 72 hours or so.

If you write in a very popular category that gets a lot of submissions, it is possible your story will take up to three weeks to post so the new story list doesn't get flooded by stories in one category.

If your story pushes the limits of Lit's rules -- young lovers, non-humans that are to bestial, "rape fantasy" vs "rapist fantasy" in nonconsent, etc. -- or has some technical problems or special handling requirements, you can usually add a day or three to the time it takes. (Submitting in MS Word (DOC) or Rich Text Format (RTF) format adds at least one day.)

I wouldn't be too concerned until it's been ten days since the last time you previewed or clicked the pending link.

PS: I noticed the titles and celeb category in your thread in the How to forum. Celebrity stories are another category tht take a bit longer to approve. The "Kim Fuckable" story may also run into under-age problems because the ToonDisney Character, Kim Possible, is still in high school.
