Well this is gonna be a stretch for me, I'm actualy going to try and start a serious thread. <gasp> Sad but indeed, it is very true. I have to state my opinion on something I've noticed in the recent "pointless threads vs. serious threads" debate that's been going on here.
For awhile now, many have spoken up and stated their dislike about the continuing fad of starting these pointless threads that have no real meaning other then to joke around with your buddys about whatever. They have made the clear points that such things can, and at the rate they are going lately, should be confined more to email and chat conversations. Now most that have made these points have tried to be very respectful in their posts to those that start the pointless threads. Many of them try to talk about it and let it be known how it affects them in a calm, and polite way.
Those who have not been handling it in that way, well that's their way of dealing with this situation. Can't say I agree with it at all though. But back to what I was getting at in the very first place.
These people who have expressed their dislike have done so, only to then have those posters they are talking about yell back about Freedom of Speech and how they are allowed to talk about what they want because it's a porn site. How ironic, that they talk about freedom of speech to protect those pointless threads that they love. Yet, when others use that same freedom of speech to complain about the threads, suddenly that freedom of speech doesn't seem to matter anymore to them.
The ball bounces both ways here people. Yes, those who start them have the right to make all the pointless threads that they want. This is indeed very true. But then you also need to understand that people have the right to complain and 'bitch' about them as much as they want also. It's a cycle that should be better respected by both sides during these debates.
That is just my two cents. I now return you to my usual pointless posts.
