That's because all the gay men that are uneducated, slovenly, etc., are still in the closet. They can't live up to the image of the educated, cultured, well-groomed, etc., of the outed gay males.

she's got more than a valid point Kill. I am sorry you feel threatened in the face of facts.

I don't think that's so much of a fact as it is a generalization based on her own experiences. While she may know many men, both homosexual and hetrosexual, she does not know all men. It *is* a tad bit insulting.

its not as though its super shocking or anything ... if that leaves you speechless im not sure how you survive in the real world :)

having said that i don't agree with any stereotypes ... theres exceptions to every single rule

fair enough, but her generalization was closer to the truth than some want to admit.

You're damned right it's insulting.

Ruby basically said that gay guys are cooler than straight guys, and the majority of you with the exception of a brave few will sit back and agree with her.

I'm sorry, but all gay people are not cute little cupie dolls that would look nice on a car dashboard people.

They have their fucked up contestants too.

Having class, intellegence, or nice shoes has nothing to do with being straight, or gay.

Niether does holding a door open for a woman.

F this. I am not going to sit here and debate the fact that straight men are good people to this audience, because the demographics are all fucked up in this place.

True. On the other hand, they'll sleep with anything that moves, and they're almost as likely to get into silly, high-drama, back-stabbing hissy fits as women...

I have nothing against heterosexuality. I just hate it when people throw thier lifestyle in my face.

You mean like the guy who started this thread?

I have known only a few homosexual men. One was a very good friend of mine.

From my limited experience I found none of Ruby's assertion to be true.

For one thing (unless you are talking about self-education) being educated has more to do with ones finances than sexual orientation. As far as liking theatre and such I would agree simply cause it makes sense. Women generally speaking use that side of the brain more than men. The language, art, music side. And so it kinda makes sense that many gay men would also share that.

Same for dressing.

However, I'm not threatened. If a woman doesn't like me for who I am then so be it. And some women do like me just fine. To each his(or her) own.

jeez kill, I was just picking on Glam statement about throwing a lifestyle in his face, which seemed to me a joke on his part. He is cool like that, ya know?

Chill a little.

The world is fucked up.

We're all fucked up.

Can't we just accept this and all be happy in our fucked-upness?

Hey....on a side note ck, Roxy Music was either just at, or is soon to be at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston Michigan.

I was actually trying to be funny BBW. No sweat.

I'm turning this into a bumper sticker. Its perfect.

Ruby's working the law of averages. You take 10 random gay men and 10 random straight men and compare them.

Gay men do tend to be neater, more well groomed and more interested in art, theatre, music and literature.

Killswitch seems to think himself the average straight male. In fact he has said many times on this site that he is actually a perfect respresntation of the "average American man".

He doesn't read, is poorly educated, has the same hair style he had in junior high, couldn't name a single symphony without google if you put a gun to his head and probably thinks that Plato is the originator of edible colored clay.

Fortunately for straight women he is NOT a good representation of straight men. But on average the stereotypes of fashionable, culturally aware gay men live up to the hype. On average.

Bullshit!

The truth is they are the same as heterosexuals except for one thing, they like men.

They do seem to have that odd fascination with show tunes, though . . .
