Sarissa of Eldergrove was the kind of beautiful princess you read about in fairy tales, except she didn’t have the benevolent personality. She had the looks though, looks that not even a goddess could match. Her long, silver-blonde hair reached down to her lower back. Her features were soft and symmetrical, her eyes a sparkling blue, like two pools glistening in the moonlight. She was tall and slender, but not too skinny, with modest but perky breasts and a lithe waist. Tonight she wore a sparkling silvery-blue gown that reflected the moonlight and clung to her form.
She was simply not the type of Princess you turned down.
She could not fathom how she could be rejected… and for a commoner no less! Sarissa wiped angry tears from her face as she continued galloping forward on her horse.
She’d ridden away from the castle screaming like a banshee about how she needed to be alone and not to follow her. Sarissa had never acted with such defiance before, so her parents were slow to react. They almost couldn’t fathom how their goody-two-shoes daughter would ever stray too far, and they wanted to give her some time to calm down and let her return on her own time. At least that’s what Sarissa figured, since she hadn’t run into any guard yet and the sun was just about starting to set. It was time to return home.
Had been time to return home for some time now as a matter of fact.
The problem was, Sarissa wasn’t quite sure of the direction.
Gods, this was so embarrassing… an elf lost in the forest! She would never hear the end of it. There’d be snickering behind her back for weeks, she was sure of it. Worse than that, she was starting to hear strange noises. Calls of wild beast? Sarissa barely left the castle grounds let alone ventured into the interior of the forest. She did not like this feeling of uncertainty, of helplessness, of the unknown. Night was falling and she was beginning to get afraid.
Eventually, she spotted a fire in the distance. Civilization! It must be a settlement within her lands, Sarissa surmised, no way had she gotten that lost to have left her family’s kingdom, right?
For a brief second, she considered asking them for directions, but then she saw who, or rather, what they were once she overlooked the encampment below from a rounded hilltop. Orcs! Giant, hulking man--beasts! Sarissa had never seen one in person before. She’d had the misfortune of meeting a half-orc a few years back, but his ghastliness was nothing compared to these brutes.
Sarissa hoped they hadn’t spotted her. She may have let out a small yelp upon spotting them. Where the sounds of her horse’s hoofs going to give her away? Nonetheless, she swung her horse around and started back the way she’d come. She may be a sheltered princess, but even she knew better than to approach a band of any men alone, let alone brutish, thuggish, orcs!
