It is a couple of days until the last day of submissions to the 2019 Halloween contest so I have started this thread now for those authors who take some time to get writing.

Winter Holidays
themes: winter holiday traditions (dreidels, gift giving, etc.), cold weather (snow), holiday mythology (Santa, elves), etc.
starts: November 6
closes: December 5
winners announced: December 12

As usual, this thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2019 Winter Holidays Contest. Get your characters festive, cold, and sexy.

There is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but some could be appreciative and helpful.

I'm about 17.6k in on one, 10.6k in on a second, 10.3k in on a third, and 5950 in on a fourth. Now to see what will get finished. One is BDSM, the second is group, the third is incest, and the fourth is a couple of older people.

My head's still in summer. Time is going by faster than I like.

I’m finishing mine now. Slowly, though; I’m enjoying this one, and I like the ending I’ve got in mind. I want to savor it.

I have something ready to go, a bit of non-erotica flash that I wrote a few years ago and never did anything with. Trouble is that it’s something that happens at Christmas time, not so much holiday-ish in theme.

I have a piece I started last year that I really liked but the problem is that it's more of a multi-chapter story and would be about 50k words count if I did all the chapters together. Not sure I could finish before contest or would want to if I tried..... Still thinking about it too. I have part 1 finished at about 9000 words so it wouldn't be much of a stretch.

I have two stories ready and two others more than halfway complete.

Blast! Lost 3 A4 pages of draft in progress by starting another story using that as a template. Now have to retype those 3 pages.

Trying to write another story, but I've looked deep inside myself and all I've found is bitching.

Ah well, usually a story begins with the main character having a problem of some sort. Maybe this could make an ok intro before I dive into the actual plot.

Maybe a story does, but the way you develop the story doesn't have to start that way. The story I'm working on now started with a mental image of a woman, and I built a character and a story around her. She turned out to be the antagonist. I wasn't entirely surprised.

Well if worse comes to worst I can always pivot into the erotic version of Catcher in the Rye. Really getting ol’ JD rolling in his grave.

After having been too late with my Halloween entry because the flu took me down for a while, I was planning on skipping this one to work on a few longer, non-contest stories instead. But then an idea struck while discussing the contest with one of the people I edit for, and now I'm about 2.5k words in. Hoping to reach 3k before the end of the day. Oh well, can't argue with the muse, so I'd better just roll with it.

Those can be some of the best ones.

Aren’t they. I just started one for Xmas, a historical piece with a Chinese princess ending up in 5th century Northern Europe. The Dark Ages for a very good reason. So I’m channeling Hrolf Kraki’s Saga and a couple of others for all the background.

At what day is it ok to start submitting? The 30th?

Once Laurel opens the thread for it, on or a few days before the contest start date. Probably early next week, I imagine. Maybe this weekend even. Keep an eye on the stickies in the Author's Hangout, although I'm sure Og or someone else will post in here too once submissions are open.

Well for once I saw it coming and I'm done.

So: Following Laura’s Footsteps 8k+ words (oops now 9k words. Funny how that edit to tighten it up went the wrong way  )
(LW entry or maybe romance)

Woo hooo, on a roll. “No Tan Lines” repurposed and “ Huginn’s Yule” well underway.

I think I'll sit this one out (so I say for now, anyway). The Halloween Contest was my first contest (and only second story) and took a lot out of me. Phew, sitting around on my butt, clicking on a keyboard is so strenuous. :) I've got a story for the "Pastiches de Oggbashan” Story Event, and another story in the works, but nothing with a Holiday spin to it.

But I'll keep an eye on the contest page and try to read what I can, and who knows, maybe the muse will pay me a visit and demand my attention.

l have three ready to go and and while number four is stalled I have started yet another non-contest story. I am aiming for 350 posted stories as oggbashan by the end of 2019. Including poetry (or including jeanne_d_Artois I am already there but I'd like 350 stories as oggbashan.

If I finish the one in progress and the stalled Winter contest story that will be another six towards the total. Only another 16 would be needed. My total number of posted works as oggbashan is shown as 350 now with 21 as Poetry but I doubt the accuracy of the totalling system because elsewhere it shows slightly differently.

Mine's pretty much complete. The basic goal was to see how long I could make a sex scene go on for (somewhere between 5000-6000 words)

There is one sentence that I think could be the dumbest most nonsensical thing that I've ever written or one of the best. In an act as heightened as sex, some of the stuff expressed isn't going to make the most logical sex so that's my argument in keeping it. Also I can't think of a sentence that has irrevocably ruined a story.
